The Lost Princess' Second Chance

Chapter 6

Raya’s POV

‘Oh, why Moon Goddess? Why is he the mate you chose for me?’ I thought to myself as I fought to catch my breath.

Hugo’s hold tightening, before I saw his eyes flash to black and him releasing me. I coughed as I fell to the ground. Normally this kind of stuff is backwards. Normally it would have been his wolf holding me to the wall if I had pissed him off, not his human side. I looked back up and the real Hugo was back in control.

“Why the hell would the Moon Goddess give me such trash for a mate?!” He roared.

I flinched at his words. ‘Trash? So he going to reject me?’ I wondered.

I have always believed in the Moon Goddess and respect her choices, but I don’t know if I can actually get behind this one, but for respect I have for her, I will try to see if this can work out.

Though if we can’t reach an agreement then we would have to reject each other tonight under the full moon. Mates can only reject one another under the light of the full moon, sending that mate bond back up to the Moon Goddess.

I picked myself off the floor and looked my mate in the eyes.

“Hugo, we are mates for some reason or another… can’t you give it a chance? I am willing to try and look past all the abuse you, your family, and your pack put me through-”

*SMACK*

I was cut off by him smacking me across the face. He hit me so hard that I fell back onto the ground. My head started to ring and the metallic taste of blood coated my tongue once again.

“How dare you call me by name, you filthy mongrel. You are no better than the trash we throw out. If it wasn’t for my father I would have killed you years ago when you and you worthless rouge mother crossed into our lands. You are nothing but a waste of space.” He growled.

I spit out a bit of blood from my mouth onto the floor and stood back up. I was not going to grovel or beg for him to accept me.

“Fine.” I said. My eyes casted down to the floor as I took a deep breathe to collect myself, then I looked up and glared at him.

“I want to apologize to Riff in advance, since he is the best one out of the two of you, but I will not put up with a disgrace of an alpha like you anymore than I have to.” I said through gritted teeth.

His eyes filled with shock that I was standing up to him, but I didn’t care. This pack no longer has anything to hold me here. After this, I need to leave… no matter how painful.

“I, Raya Robinson, hereby rej-” I was cut off once again, but this time Hugo had gripped my mouth with his large hand. He slammed me into the wall once more and squeezed my jaw so tightly that it felt like he was going to crush it with just his bare hands.

“Oh no you don’t. I will be the one rejecting you, not the other way around.” He said, pushing me father into the wall.

“But first, I think you need to learn a lesson in respect.” He said with a wicked smirk on his lips. He then released my jaw, only to grab me by the hair and started dragging me away.

I groaned and I tried to get free from his hold. I will not give him the satisfaction of him hearing me cry out. He will not know that he is causing me pain and suffering. I barely pay attention to the direction he was dragging me in until I noticed that we entered the alpha’s office.

Hugo opened a small door and throws me inside. “Now let us have some fun, mate.” He said, spitting it out as if the words left a bad taste in his mouth. His big frame was blocking the doorway and I knew that I was no match for 6’2 of pure werewolf muscle unharmed. Especially since I don’t have a wolf to help me.

He brushed his dark brown hair back as he walked towards me. He pulled on some leather gloves and then grabbed some silver cuffs that were hanging on the wall. He walked over to me and placed them on my wrist. I felt the burning sinsation on my wrist. I tried to pry my wrist out of the cuffs when I heard a creaking sound.

I looked over and Hugo was cranking a little wheel in the corner. The wheel pulled the chains that the cuffs were connected to, so Hugo could make them as long or short as he saw fit. I was not going down without a fight.

“I, Raya Robinson, hereby-” I was cut off once again, this time by Hugo kicking me in the gut. Hard. I coughed up a mouth full of blood and could feel it running down the corner of my mouth.

“Seriously bleeding after a small kick? You truly are pathetic.” He knelt down and looked into my eyes. His eyes swirled with a little bit of black in them, meaning he is using some kind of wolf sense.

He growled at me as he grabbed my throat. “You don’t even have a wolf!! You must take more after your father, you worthless half breed.” He snarled as he released me to fall back to the floor.

He went back to the wheel to continue turning it while I coughed and tried to catch my breathe again. Hugo had shorted the chains so that I wasn’t even on the ground anymore. My feet dangling a foot off the ground, with my arms pulled all the way up above my head. The silver still burning and cutting into my flesh.

Hugo then tore off some of my dress and stuffed the material to gage me. “Now I am going to teach you a lesson… you think just because the Moon Goddess chose you to be my mate that I would accept you? That you can disrespect me?” He asked while gripping my chin so tightly that I felt his nails digging into my skin.

“Well you are wrong. I am going to reject you, but you won’t be able to accept it without me being in front of you and not unless you can say the proper words. So the bond will still be intact for you.” He said with an evil smirk. Nothing by pure hatred and evil in his eyes.

“Did you know that when mates find each other, there is a penalty for if one of them decide to mate with someone other than mate while the bond is intacted?” He asked in a sadistic tone.

I whimpered a bit. I have learned that when mates make the connection and meet for the first time, the bond is fully formed. If one of them decides to sleep with another, then the other one will feel the brutal pain of betrayal. The more that a mate cheats on their other half, the longer and darker the marks of betrayal will stay one the other's body.

If Hugo does what I think he is going to do, then the pain and marks will start in my abdomen and spread throughout my body the more he cheats on our mate bond. If I can’t reject him tonight, then I will have to wait until the next full moon to do so. I would be force to suffer the whole next month enduring the pain of his betrayal.

I wiggled my tongue around trying to push the gag from my mouth. If he rejects me tonight, then he will be free from feeling the effects of the mate bond. Where I would feel it until the next full moon if I can not accept the rejection now, and everytime he sleeps with another female… I will feel the pain and be marked by his betrayal.

“Let us see if I can teach you proper respect for an alpha by making you feel the pain of betrayal for an entire month.” He said, as he tore the ribbon from my hair and tied it tightly around my mouth.

He wanted to make sure that there was no way I could accept his rejection after he spoke the words. Because to accept or reject a bond gifted from the gods, you have certain rules to follow.

Like for mates, the first condition is that it must be done face to face with one’s mate. Two… It must be done on the night of the full moon, when the Moon Goddess is the closest to her children on earth, and three… All parties involved with the bond must say the proper words by stating their full name and rank.

All rules go for accepting your mate or rejecting them, that is why the mating ball is always held on the night of a full moon. So mates that are blessed to find one another at the ball can accept each other that very night.

“Let us see how strong a little half breed like you actually is…” Hugo snickered as he stood in front of me.

Me hanging off the ground made me be a bit higher up than his normal height. He looked me dead in the eyes and said the words that no werewolf should have to hear…

“I, Hugo Woods, future alpha of the Nightshade pack. Hereby reject you, rouge Raya Robinson, as my mate and future luna.” He said in a dead tone.

I felt a shock run through my body as our bond began to break.

‘I need to say the words.’ I thought as I fought against the fabric around and in my mouth. Hugo staggered a bit, clenching his chest, but recovered after a few minutes.

“Well I will see you later, half breed. I need to go enjoy my time while you spend the night locked up in for the rest of the night. Oh and this room is soundproof so no one will here you once the door closes.” He said with a small wave as he walked out of the room.

I was still in pain. My whole body was starting to go numb.

After what felt like hours passed, a burning pain hit me in my stomach. I screamed against the cloth covering my mouth. It was a pain I had never felt before. It was like I was slowly being burned alive while being slowly being pierced with millions of small needles all over my body at the same time.

‘This must be the pain of betrayal.’ I whimpered in my thoughts as I continued to scream into the gag. I thrashed around in pain all night as Hugo had bedded another female over and over again until the sun came up.

When morning came, my body was sore and drained from the pain. To survive a night was almost unbearable, and now I have to withstand this pain until the next full moon.

An entire month away. I don’t know if it is something I can handle, but something inside my heart feels like there's something else for me. Calling me. I wondered what it would be like in the future when all this pain is gone.

I vowed I would find a way to end this suffering and make Hugo pay in full once I was free from this hell that was my life in this pack.
