Chapter 5 – Tale of the Half-breeds

Chapter 5 “Hey, look I also have this at home.” I took out the history book from Storm’s bookshelf and showed him. It was the same book I misplaced and could not found at home. He finished signing a paper first before looking at me. We are actually at his office here in the pack house right now and he is kind of busy, I am just here to disturb him since I have nothing to do. I asked the twins to train me but they got busy suddenly so I was left alone with the Alpha. In the past few weeks, I just spent my days hanging out with the twins, the beta and her sister Dianne, and here our Alpha Storm is just… well kind of very serious and all that. “You read?” “Obviously.” I stated before sitting on a couch in his office. The book is not like the one I had, this one is not dusty and wrecked, but the maroon color and design of the cover shows that this is already old. I opened the book and scanned the pages to where I stopped reading the story of those half-breeds like me. I read the pages silently and it says… Half-breeds of human and werewolves, they tried but they failed. They are not the one. None of them is the ‘one’. The war between humans and werewolves has been going on for centuries. When will this end? Where will this battle take the human and werewolf race? When will the child in the prophecy come? Will this war continue from generation to generation? I sign my name on this book, for this lifetime is my turn to document the events of this period. I certify that what are written in my tales bears all truth. To the next holder of this book who will write the next tale, may you be guided by our goddess. I now sign off as death creeps inside me, taking me to my peaceful abode. We all hope that the blood will stop spilling and peace shall reign in lands. Peace and Chaos are on the hands of the child in prophecy. Take the path of the righteous, where blood will never be spilled again, where two races will be saved and war will come to an end. Chaos, choose not to prevail, peace must reign. Be in control, neither the prophecy holds the decision. Options were given, a choice has to be made.   I scanned the next pages but there were not half-breeds mentioned in them anymore. There are some pages missing as well. I can’t figure out what the other tales was saying due to the absence of some pages. I do not know what the prophecy the author of the tale was talking about or was it even true? This was dated centuries ago, the prophecy might have been fulfilled already. I closed the book and put it on the coffee table in front of me and leaned on the couch. I thought I would find out more about those half-breeds but that was the end of it. How did they die? How their lives did go on? I have lots of questions. I am curious. I sighed and looked at Storm whom I found staring at me as he is leaning back on his swivel chair while her fore finger is grazing his bottom lip. “What?” I asked. “Nothing. It was just fun to watch you.” “Like how you did when I was looking for that cinnamon scent? Goddess, Alpha, you made me look stupid. You could have just said that it was you.” “And ruin my source of entertainment? Nah-uh.” “I am not a clown.” I rolled my eyes at him. What am I? a performer in a circus? “You do that again and you will regret it.” he warned. “Empty threats, Alpha.” I uttered before picking up the book to return to the shelf. “You do not wanna test me, Llana.” “Calm your hormones.” I retorted, pushing the book to its place before looking at him and he just chuckled. That deep voice chuckle is attractive, does he know that? “My hormones are fine, baby. You might want to control yours.” I might not want to admit it, but he was right. My body reacts too much to his touch and all that, and I know he was enjoying my responses to it. I still have trouble controlling it since those are all new to me and I do not know how to do it. “How many women have you taken in bed already?” I asked out of nowhere. Maybe that is why he was good at keeping his hormones at bay since he knows what to do. Experienced they say. “Why?” “So I may do it as well to learn how to control my hormones?” I scanned the tall shelf and all my eyes were getting are business books, economics, math, and some law books. There are lots. I turned around and he is already in front of me with his eyes darkened, glaring at me. His hands went to my waist gripping it tightly but not painful. “No one gets a piece of you. Understand that?” he uttered after a deep growl. “Why? So I would know what to do next time you try to torture me.” I answered. “Oh. I should ask for some advice to those four.” I added, referring to Dylan, Dianne, and the twins. “Will you keep your mouth close about things like that?” he said and had his hand travel to my neck, his thumb caressing it. “You made me know about it. I do not know anything when I came here and then you just did it. So, basically it was your fault.” I smiled sweetly, looking up at him since he is a lot taller than me. “Hmm. What should I do with you? You are too good at answering.” His eyes scanned every detail of my face and ended up for a minute on my lips. I tiptoed and gave him a quick kiss on the lips and felt the shivers on my spine making me giggle like a kid. He was stunned at my action and just stared at me for seconds. For some reason, I got addicted to his kisses. It just makes me feel happy and connected to him. I saw him rule the pack, give orders, and lead them train. He was so cold and stoic; no emotions could be seen from his eyes. He is like a different person when it comes to the pack and fighting. But whenever he is with me, I could see hints of emotions from him, although they were just small hints but at least they are present. His lips slowly formed into a smile, a genuine one, and it is my first time to see it because he never smiles. He could laugh but it was like a chuckle due to disbelief, amusement, or mock. This time, he smiles for real. “You look better.” I put my index fingers on both sides of his lips and he took my hand. Then he shook his head and looked at the ground. “Do you want anything?” he asked. “Can I train with the pack?” “No.” his face became serious. I have always wanted to learn how to fight, and not because I want to kick his a-s but to have skills as well. So if there is an attack, I may be able to defend myself and not to depend on them protecting me. “Please?” I pleaded, pulling my best puppy face as I pout. “No, Llana.” “Come on, Storm. Let me, please?” “Why? I can protect you and besides, you will just be hurt. The training is not easy and you are so fragile, baby. You will be bruised, wounded, I do not want to see you in that state.” “Close your eyes and not to look at me.” I responded like a stupid kid. “It does not work that way.” He said and flicked my forehead slightly. “Then what am I gonna do here? I would just stay in our room, or in the living room, then to your office.” His finger went to my cheek, poking it absentmindedly and I just let him. My back was against on the shelf as he stood in front of me. “I have nothing to do here. I want to cook too, but it was not fun to cook alone you know. I want to cook with you too, and run with you like how I did with my friends before. We will race and climb to the tallest tree, and guess what, I always won.” I added, telling a story like a child who just came back from school. He just watched me talk and blabber about nonsense, telling him what I usually do before when I was still at home and he listened attentively although his eyes wandered on my face to my hair touching whatever interests him. Whether curling his finger on my strands, checking my eyebrows, tracing my nose bridge, I just let him since I could not stop my mouth from talking. And when I am done, I inhaled deeply and exhaled as I ran out of air talking. “Do you want to go for a run with me?” he asked. “You will show me your wolf?” I have not seen his wolf yet and I also want to race with him. “You want me to shift?” “Yes!” I exclaimed and another chuckle escaped from him. “You are so adorable.” He said and ruffled my hair on top of my head. “Go change and we will have a run.” “Really? You are not busy?” “I will always make time for you, baby. Go now.” “Alright!” I hopped walked to our room and changed into my running clothes and tied my hair up. “Oh shoot, I forgot to ask about the prophecy.” I slapped my forehead. He might know about it, or maybe even heard about it. I wonder if he has a book about it too, that would be better.
