“Thomas is safe.”
Selena “What?”
I whisper.
David “He escaped with some pixie girl; Brian found them just when they crossed the territory.”
Selena “Ok.”
Feeling confused about what to do and not sure what happened I turn around to find another woman being driven to the territory.
Selena “Are you the Queen?”
Donella “What is it you want vamp?”
Selena “If it wasn’t important to you, you wouldn’t be here, now would you? It’s a scroll I came across that tells the story of how your parents died, signed by your doctor, and stamped by your judge. If your general was clever, she would have remembered and told you by now.”
Donella “Why do you think I would want something like that?”
Selena “Because it incriminates you.”
