I was on the brink of death...

Before my last breath, I called my eldest brother, Ethan Sterling, pleading for his help to save my life.

But he dismissed me as a fool, urging me to meet my end.

My second brother accused me of betraying our sister, insisting that I needed her absolution before I could expect any help.

...

My seven brothers only had room in their hearts for the impostor, Isabelle Sterling, completely overlooking me, their true sister!

Unbeknownst to them, I was the puppet master, orchestrating their rise to eminence in their various domains...

They mocked my intellect and, in league with Isabelle, they conspired to kill me.

On the day of my miserable death, the Sterlings became the richest in Freedomland, celebrating with a lavish banquet where my memory was conspicuously absent.

When I opened my eyes again—

I was astonished to find myself given a second chance at life.

This time, I vowed to reclaim all the humiliation that the Sterling family had inflicted upon me!

Ironically, my brothers, too, had been granted a second life, now weeping and imploring for my forgiveness.

But I had hardened my heart against them...

My focus shifted to the one figure from my past who had shown me genuine affection, the young general.

Chapter 1 Marriage
On the day Sophie Sterling died, the Sterling family became the richest in Freedomland. She held a phone in her hands and saw a piece of news. The headline read: The Wealthy Sterling Family Attends a Banquet in Grand Style, Alongside Distinguished Nobility from All Walks of Life! Next came a group photo of the Sterling family. Mr. Sterling and Mrs. Sterling, along with their seven sons and their adopted daughter, Isabelle Sterling, each wore a beaming smile. Yet the real daughter of the Sterling family—Sophie—was curled up in a dark, damp basement, facing a fate where she would vanish forever. ***** Last year, the adopted daughter of the Sterling family, Isabelle, was kidnapped. Worried about her family’s safety, Sophie rushed to rescue Isabelle, never expecting that she herself would be knocked out and taken to a pitch-black place. This was the darkest corner of Freedomland. As soon as Sophie arrived, she was forcibly fed a special drug. In just one year, her body seemed to have aged by forty years, suffering countless illnesses each day. Day after day, night after night, she lived in deep despair. Sophie was on the verge of collapse... She was about to die... In desperation, Sophie tried everything and finally managed to get hold of a cell phone. However, as soon as Sophie got the phone, what she saw was news of the Sterling family members happily hosting a grand banquet. They seemed completely unconcerned about Sophie’s disappearance. This gave Sophie a strange feeling. But she had no time to think about it. With trembling hands, she hurriedly dialed Ethan Sterling’s number. When the call connected, Sophie cried out excitedly, “Ethan...” However, the voice that answered the call was not Ethan’s, but that of the adopted daughter, Isabelle. Sophie’s eyes lit up. “Isabelle, I’ve finally reached you. I’ve been kidnapped! I’ll send you the address—please come save me right away...” Hearing Sophie’s voice, Isabelle sounded displeased. “Today is an important day for our Sterling family. How dare you bother me with something so trivial?” Sophie was stunned, her voice trembling slightly. “Trivial? Is saving my life trivial? Isabelle, I was kidnapped while trying to save you...” Isabelle let out a soft laugh. “So what? Why should I save you?” Sophie’s eyes grew red, unable to believe Isabelle could be so merciless. Yet she immediately humbled herself and pleaded, “Just think of it as repaying my kindness. Ask Ethan to send someone to rescue me.” Isabelle sneered, “Ethan is very busy. He’s the heir to the Sterling family, and there are many distinguished guests at today’s banquet. He’s busy receiving them and has no time to save you.” “Sending a few people should be possible,” Sophie pleaded urgently. “There are other brothers, too. Just let them know, and they’ll surely send someone. They are my brothers. They can’t just watch me die here.” “You are not our sister.” Ethan’s voice came from the other end of the line. “We have only one sister—Isabelle, not you!” “You’re stupid, worthless, and unfit to be my sister.” Sophie was stunned. “You were in a car accident a few years ago that injured both your legs. The doctors said there was no cure, and everyone gave up on you. But I never gave up. I stayed by your side, calming you down during your nervous breakdowns, and helped heal your legs. Have you forgotten everything?” she said incredulously. Ethan replied impatiently, “The one who stayed by my side was Isabelle, not you, you fool. You healed my legs? Don’t try to steal Isabelle’s credit! “Having a sister like you is a disgrace to the Sterling family. Hurry up and die. Stop calling and bothering me!” Hearing Ethan’s cold and dismissive words, the last shred of hope in Sophie’s heart was completely extinguished. Her face turned pale, and her eyes were filled with endless pain. Over the phone came Isabelle’s arrogant voice. “Who do you think came up with the idea of locking you up there? It was my suggestion. I proposed it to the brothers, and they agreed immediately!” Sophie’s body trembled violently, shocked to the point of struggling for breath. “What did you say?” Isabelle sneered, “You’re just worthless. Why should you come back and fight me for what’s mine? You should die out there!” Suddenly, Sophie understood everything. Her eyes widened, filled with disbelief and rage. “When you were kidnapped, and I went to save you—that was all part of your plan, wasn’t it? You even drugged me!” Isabelle chuckled lightly, “That’s right, I planned it all. And you actually believed it. You came running like a loyal dog to save me. How stupid and laughable!” Sophie’s eyes grew wet in an instant, tears silently rolling down. The pain and anger in her heart nearly overwhelmed her. “Why?!” Every day, Sophie had hoped her family would rescue her, but now Isabelle claimed that locking her up there was actually their decision! Isabelle’s expression was vicious, her teeth clenched. “You are the Sterling family’s biological daughter, and I’m the adopted one. When you returned, you took everything that belonged to me. I hate you, I despise you, and I want you gone from this world right now! “And so what if you came back? Neither our parents nor our seven brothers like you. I am their sister, and you are nothing.” Sophie’s eyes were wide, her heart feeling as if it were being sliced by a knife. The overwhelming anger and despair suddenly made it impossible for her to breathe. She struggled desperately, trying to grasp the last thread of hope for survival, but everything grew blurry. Sophie’s lips trembled slightly, yet she could make no sound. Tears flowed uncontrollably from the corners of her eyes, mixed with rage, despair, and unwillingness. Soon, Sophie’s gaze gradually lost its focus. Her once vibrant eyes became hollow and lifeless, as though every bit of light had been extinguished in that moment. She died in the prime of her life. ***** After Sophie died, for some unknown reason, her soul drifted out. She saw her own corpse lying on the ground, limbs twisted awkwardly. Two thugs approached Sophie’s body. One said, “Hey, there’s a woman here. Looks like she died just now. Her body’s still soft. Perfect for satisfying me.” The other man searched Sophie’s corpse but found nothing, looking displeased. “She’s so poor. There's not a single valuable thing on her.” The first man sneered dismissively, “Look at what she’s wearing—it’s even more tattered than our clothes. How could she have any money?” He paused, then continued, “Stop searching. I’m going to have my fun while her body is still soft.” Sophie watched as these two disgusting men reached to touch her corpse. Her soul trembled in fury! Sophie tried to kick them away, but to her shock, her foot passed right through their bodies. It was only then that she realized she was now just a soul and couldn’t touch them. She closed her eyes in despair, not daring to watch what was about to happen. In the next instant— The two filthy men were suddenly kicked violently, sent flying before crashing heavily to the ground. Sophie opened her eyes and saw a handsome man. He was tall, with well-defined, striking features, and exuded a dangerous aura. The two criminals looked up abruptly, shouting angrily, “Who dares interfere?!” The handsome man swung his blade calmly. Their heads fell instantly, blood spraying in all directions. Soon, a team of men in black entered and swiftly disposed of the bodies. The man walked over to Sophie’s corpse and slowly crouched down. “Sophie, I’ve finally found you.” Sophie froze. Who was this man? She had never seen him before. She didn’t know him, yet he called her name with such familiarity. Then Sophie saw the man pick up her corpse and head toward the riverside. He personally dressed her corpse in a pure white wedding gown and applied makeup. He himself wore a black suit, and under the direction of an officiant, this handsome man held a wedding ceremony with Sophie’s corpse. Sophie was utterly stunned. She stared intently at the man’s face, confirming she had never met him. So why was this noble-looking man marrying her? The very next second, the man approached Sophie’s corpse, his eyes gentle. “Sophie, we’re finally married!” With that, he leaned down and kissed her lips softly. Sophie was shocked beyond measure. This man... actually kissed her corpse? The man sat down, cradling Sophie’s body, murmuring softly, “Sophie, I searched for so long before I finally found you. It was the Sterling family who caused your death. I swear to you, none of those who harmed you will meet a good end. I will wipe out every member of the Sterling family!”
