Mila was informed that a driver was waiting for her outside, she quickly gathered her bags and went right ahead, outside was a bright red ford edge not something she expected she thought it would be something black with tinted windows. It seems like the type of car that a private billionaire would be driven in.
“Good morning miss. Here are your keys, I do hope you enjoy your new car.” The guy she presumed was the driver said. Holding out the keys for Mila. She watched him skeptically.
“Sorry, my car?” She questioned the clearly confused man, this is an expensive gorgeous new car. He couldn’t be serious about just handing it over to her. She knew she needed to make sure that there wasn’t some mix up. She didn’t want to get in trouble or get him in trouble.
“Mr. Valdez instructed me to bring the car straight from the garage here, you are Mila Davis his new Nanny?” He couldn’t have just bought this car, the benefits did say car and gas allowance but she assumed that she would just be driving one of his cars. She found herself thinking that he must have a bunch of cars. It confused her as why he’d buy a new car. Although rich people don’t seem to care about spending money like it is nothing. The previous family she worked for also had money, not enough to buy cars like it was nothing, but they use to buy things she felt was completely unnecessary.
“We also installed the baby car seat in the back just as requested, we even made sure it matched the red and black of the cars interior. Here you go.” He held out the keys and this time Mila took it from him with a gracious smile. The guy didn’t hesitate he walked over to a different car got in and left, leaving her standing there staring at the car, she didn’t have a lot of time to wrap her mind around it, she opened the boot and placed her bags inside. Then she got in and left. It felt strange driving the brand-new car, she attempted to drive as carefully as possible, just in case it was some kind of muddle up, a car mix up or something. She drove up the driveway and stopped where the cab had parked yesterday not knowing where else to go. Sebastian appeared in the doorway as she got out of the car.
“Let’s go for a test drive, I need to ensure my children’s safety whilst you’re driving and then I can show you where your parking spot will be for future reference.” Mila got back in the car with Sebastian sitting next to her dominating the space. The car no longer felt new or hers, it felt like all the air was sucked from it, maybe she is just nervous because of the intense way he is looking at her. Sebastian looked her over. She looked so small sitting on the other side of the car. Her red hair falling over her face as she tries to hide it from him. He was so intrigued by her, he couldn’t help his eyes watching her.
“Are you planning to drive or do you intend for the car to move on its own?” a testy approach being tested is not what she expected, doesn’t he grasp how unnerving he is, she can’t even take a little time to breath and manage her bearings with this guy. Not only is him staring at her so closely causing her to feel nervous, but those dark set eyes were making something flutter in her.
“Look I’d like to introduce you to the kids before they leave for school, which means that we don’t have a lot of time to do this, we’ll just go down the road and back up into your parking space.” With him talking to her calmly she pulled away it was a quick trip down the road and back up and she drove with ease, not too slowly to make him think that she was a beginner, but also not casually to make him think that she was showing of, it was just another day on the road. They pulled into a garage, Mila taking the only empty space left. Sebastian didn’t say a word just motioned for her to follow and so she did, better to follow than to get lost. They ended up in the kitchen, at least a familiar place now filled with unfamiliar faces three of them being the children she will be taking care of. They were sitting at the table in the left-hand side of the kitchen eating breakfast, finishing breakfast actually.
“Good morning, I’d like you all to meet your new nanny, Mila. This is my eldest daughter Alexis, My son Matthew and my youngest daughter Ava.”
“It’s nice to meet all of you finally I have heard wonderful things and I’m quite excited about our time together.” Mila offered a kind and warm smile to the children wanting the first impression to be one of open friendliness. She didn’t receive any smiles back unfortunately to her despair, they weren’t just as beautiful as their father, but they had the same intimidating aura’s.
“I’m sure we’ll just have a splendid time Mary freaken Popins, my father must have agreed since he has hired you someone close to my own age to nanny me, that’s what every teenage girl wants to be managed by an older boring version of herself.” Alexis said getting up staring Mila down with those same hazel green eyes as her father, pursing her very full lips, throw in the amazing sculptured cheekbones into the whole stare and you get a very intimidating look from a teenager that looked more like a model as someone heading over to school, too bad for her short stature though, models are usually preferred tall.
“I do not intent to nanny you, but yes I will manage your time, not you as you have a strict schedule.” Alexis rolled her eyes before just walking away. She couldn’t believe her fathers nerve to have hired such a young nanny. She imagines it has more to do with the red heads gorgeous looks. From Matthew Mila just got a quick up and down look with his icy blue eyes and then she saw his blond wavy head leaving the room. Clearly, she wasn’t even worth a word. It was yet again a strange feeling for her to be so rejected it has never happened before the kids she took care of before took an immediate liking to her. At least she had one shot left with Ava. She was just staring at her, she was a mixture between her siblings she has the same light hair as her brother paired with the hazel eyes of her sister, she finally smiled, something that she must have learned from the other staff, because she couldn’t possibly have gotten it from her siblings Mila thought sarcastically. One down a whole lot left to go, but she felt positive that she would win them over eventually.
Her first day was quite a day. She had gotten Ava’s complete schedule and what a schedule it was. Every minute of the day was planned out exactly. She knew that it is important for kids to have a schedule. Children have a tendency to fear the unknown, having a routine helps to make small changes in their life without having them notice it or fight against it. It also teaches the child what to expect, this limits their disappointment in life. If the schedule says that her father will be in for dinner he’ll be there. It is also a great way to grant a child independence. Mila has had great success with schedules and routines when she was working with Tyler. Even knowing all this she wished that the little girl had more freedom in her daily schedule.

With her schedule he gave me a list of all fine motor and gross motor skills that I was allowed to do with Ava. I also received an USB stick for the car radio that has sing along songs and books in English, Spanish and French. I was expected to also learn the languages as Ava does, because it is expected of me to converse with her in different languages and to incorporate these languages in our everyday routine. Mrs. Wilde had shown me where everything is that I’ll need for Ava’s schedule. There was a soft play room where we did her gross motor and fine motor skills. All the things we needed was neatly packed in a cupboard there. The memory games were on her tablet and she had specific shelves for her dance and swimming classes in her wardrobe. Ava already had a handle on her schedule so I basically let her take the lead. The cutest thing ever was seeing Ava in her pink ballet tutu. Things was going smooth until Mila had to fetch Alexis and Matthew from school. They weren’t where they were supposed to be waiting. She had to get out of the car and take Ava out and ask around until she found them, which meant they were behind on their schedule. The kids did their homework at least, but not without some difficulty. It felt like a blessing when they finally went to the Santa Babara equestrian and tennis club grounds. Mila was exhausted when she finally fell into my bed. It was a very long first day. She knew the kids were acting out and waited at the wrong place just to cause her difficulty, but she will win them over. She will make a success of this job and her time with this family. It is this that she wrote in her letter to Juan. She only wished that he could write back more often, but she understood that he is very busy and it takes time for her letters to reach him. He hasn’t even read her letter that she have moved to California yet. She closed her eyes and drifted off with the feeling of hope and excitement at another day coming soon.
