Chapter 44 - Things feel different

Alex's Point Of View     I started to wake up slowly, bit by bit.  I could feel myself start to ease out of unconsciousness.  Just the same as last night I'd had a dreamless sleep, but man was that beeping getting right on my last nerve.  I tried to open my eyes, but they remained glued shut.  I tried to work out where I was or what time it might be, but my brain gave me absolutely nothing.  I could still hear the ongoing beep-beep of a machine, there was also a snoring sound coming from my left.  It was quite a soft snore, if it had been the usual loud snoring you got I would have woken up ready to stab whoever was there. On the fourth attempt at trying to open my eyes, I was finally able to get them open for a few seconds so that I could check out my surroundings.  I was in a white roo
