Chapter 2 - A Human?

1187 Words
Liam's Point Of View I opened my eyes and let out a bit of a wince as the sun came streaming through the window.  Werewolves could drink a lot of booze and rarely got hangovers - That didn't mean that sometimes I didn't feel a little delicate after a session, and that wedding was the biggest session I'd taken part of in a long time. I turned to my right to see Lauren still asleep next to me.  Her eyes were twitching in dream and she was snoring gently.  I contemplated waking her up for a bit of morning delight but thought better of it.  My Mom and Dad had agreed to take Samuel last night so that we could have a bit of a lazy morning.  Lauren would probably have my testicles if I woke her up too soon. Lauren and I had talked about getting married but had decided to "Moth Ball" it for now.  We had been setting up our own pack Copper Rose Moon.  My brother Lucas, or rather Erin his Beta, on his behalf, had killed the Alpha from the Copper Rose for being involved in the kidnapping of his Luna April.  I'd been watching a prisoner so I wasn't there when it all went South but it had been an awful time for anyone involved. My brother would not be able to run two packs, we'd tried every possible way to make it work but it was logistically impossible.  Both our girls were pregnant with our kids and if Lucas took it all on he would never see his twins. So long story short I was now the Alpha of my own pack.  And let me tell you it was an absolute Mare to rebuild.  We'd had to start from scratch and build the whole thing again.  Alpha Ryan had been such a selfish bastard that he'd drained all the pack money and spent it on himself.  The pack house had been hanging and the wolves there were living in what would be best described as shacks.   I wasn't expecting it to be easy to gain the trust of the pack but it was actually pretty easy.  A dozen or so left but the rest of the Wolves were relieved that someone had finally stepped in.  So now they have great accommodation, they have a training schedule, and a pretty awesome Alpha.  The pack house which is now about three times the size of the previous s**t hole is open to every wolf all the time.  I gained 100 Warriors from my brothers pack when I moved on.  Lucas's pack homes Vampires and Witches and some of us had, had enough magic to last us 10 lifetimes.  So I've got around 300 Warriors and there families here.  I've got no plans to take the pack much further than this.  I've got a perfect work life balance and everyone is happy. I was just thinking about getting out of bed and going for a run when I received a mind link from my Beta "Hey, Liam you ok to come down to the security border dude?" "Sure Elliot!  Why what's up?"  I'd stolen Elliot from my brothers pack.  He worked security at the wedding reception the previous evening but had called it a night early so that he could take the morning shift.  I for one was extremely grateful for that. "There's a female here that wants to see you..."  Elliot replied in a pained tone. "You're not calling her a wolf.  Which means she's a vamp or a witch.  Tell her to go to my brothers place.  We don't take in strays" "I've been through that with her chief.  She's not looking for a place to stay.. She's a girl, like a human girl!" "What like a human, human?"  I asked incredulously "How on earth did she track us down?" I could hear Elliot starting to get impatient with me, "This is why I asked you to come down Alpha, she's only going to talk to you" I disconnected the mind link.  For Goddess sake there was a human about a meter away from a Werewolf pack.  I was pretty sure that had never happened before.  Not at my brothers and certainly not at mine!   I chucked on some sweats and a t-shirt and threw on my runners.  This is so not how I wanted the day to start!  I was tempted to call Lucas and get some advice on how to handle things, but last night was his wedding night so he wasn't going to be to impressed at me mind linking him.  My brother is one scary Alpha. I decided to try and handle this myself.  I mean what could possibly go wrong?  I jogged down to the pack border and saw Elliot stood calmly in front of a human being!  I honestly thought, or maybe hoped, he was wrong.  But no she was a girl!  And she was quite pretty which surprised me as well. "Can I help you?"  I asked cautiously. She didn't respond, she just looked at me like she was trying to suss me out.  She rolled her head from one side to the other.  She was frowning. "Are you looking for something in particular?"  I asked amused.   "I'm not sure."  She replied still looking at me. I looked at the girl again.  She looked like her clothes were too small for her, like maybe they got shrunk in the wash, although they hadn't been near a washing machine for quite some time I'd bet.  Her blonde hair was pretty dirty and up in high bunches. Her eyes were blue with a very attractive set of black rings around them - Did she every sleep.  She had kind of a Harley Quinn thing going on, minus the face tattoo's. "Well I've actually got quite a bit to do today so perhaps you could tell me what it is that you want?" "How many children do you have?" "How is that any of your business?"  I snapped loudly.  She jumped backwards about three feet.  She was scared.  I also got the feeling that she had her suspicions about what I was.   "It's not but if you answer me I'll know whether I'm here" What??  Are all humans this weird, or did I just meet one on an off day?  Her tired eyes looked at me now in a pleading manor she also looked extremely worried about something. "I have one son."  I replied. "Oh thank the Lord!  I'm sorry for disturbing you"  She said then with a huge smile on her face "You'll have to forgive me for this.  I honestly thought there was danger here.  But there's not you don't have twins"  She started to skip back the way she came. "What did you say about twins?"  My face was set in a very serious expression which she didn't fail to notice. "You don't have twins."  She repeated again. "No"  I said trying to keep my anxiety levels at a fixed position "But my brother does." The girl looked absolutely terrified.   "It's real" she whispered.
