Dinner was an odd affair. The moment Aris and I sat down, the entire room moved away from the dancefloor and sat down at their respective tables. The music continued to play, all thanks to the small orchestra in the far corner of the room, but they played much more relaxed and undanceable songs. However, eating the actual food was nearly impossible. Every few minutes, a new alpha would approach the table and greet Aris. Some introduced their lunas to me, some even introduced their children. It didn’t take long for me to notice that it was always their firstborn son, never a daughter. Garrick was amongst the first few alphas who approached the table. It went by order of importance after all, Garrick apparently was Aris’ third most important alpha, but he arrived without luna or children.
