Chapter 9 Unlike the night before, Laura was perfectly happy to put a little more effort into her appearance before dinner with Connor and his family. But not enough so her mother noticed. She knew it was perverse, of course, that desire to hide when she was taking an action that would make her own mother happy. And she wanted to hide it anyway. She had more time to think about it than she had the night before, anyway.
