Kara was floating again in that dark abyss that seemed to numb her to the world around. She could not be sure just how long she had been there, nor why she was there in the first place. Still, it was calming. For the first time in a very long while, she was at peace. There were no shouts of rage, no fists of anger, no words of condemnation, instead there was only sweet, blissful silence.
Vaguely, she recalled her last thoughts. A man with gray eyes asking her questions. a multitude of lights that popped and shimmered around the backdrop that was the Martins dining room. Then a blindingly bright light that shone throughout the room and nearly burned her with its intensity.
