"H-Henry?" My eyes went wide, ready to pop out of their sockets anytime soon. "How— how are you… you're here?" I stuttered.
"Yes." He grinned like he had just achieved the World's best goal.
"How's this possible? We just had a video call quite a while ago." I didn't mean to frown but I did and that caused his smile to drop. "Why didn't you let me know you're coming over?"
"So?" He frowned too. "I sent you a text message, clearly stating that I was in a hotel that's literally ten buildings away. It was dark so I guess you didn't notice. Now I'm here, so what? It doesn't seem like you're happy to see me. You wouldn't even let me come in?"
"No, I'm glad to see you." I corrected, smiling nervously. "My phone was in my room so I didn't receive the text." Else I'd have stopped you from coming. Definitely didn't say that to him.
I didn't know what action to take so I pulled him into a tight hug, pulling free from the hug immediately.
Gosh! I needed help. I couldn't let him stay outside but The Dawson's were in. There was no way I could let them know I wasn't interested in their son and have a boyfriend. At least not now.
"Sure, come in." I fidgeted, opened the door wider and stepped backwards so he could step in freely.
"Wow! This place looks so different." He chuckled after stepping in.
I shut the door as quietly as I could, breathing in and out at shorter intervals than normal. I prayed he didn't see the dining. How was that even possible?
I followed behind him in light footsteps.
"...then I decided to come here." He stopped talking, sharply turning to me. I flinched at his unexpected action. "Isn't that nice of me?" He asked with a wide grin.
Oh wait, he was talking? I didn't even realize that.
"My room." I whisper-snapped at him when he wanted to take a seat on the couch.
He raised his eyebrows in skepticism. "Really, Lexi?"
"Just do it, Henry." I pleaded. I didn't want to raise my voice at him.
"This is weird." He continued walking. Edward and Mitchell's back faced us so we were only able to see the faces of Ava, Nora and Jax as well as my empty seat, around the long rectangular dining table.
Jax's face was fixed to his phone but Nora was able to notice me. She widened her eyes as those grey eyes landed on Henry.
"Visitors?" Henry stopped walking, noticing the unfamiliar people in the dining room. Well—there wasn't exactly a wall separating it from the living room so of course he noticed them.
"Yes, very important visitors to Dad." I whispered.
"Oh." He nodded, beginning to walk up the stairs.
Mom, being the sensitive person she was, snapped her head in our direction. "Lexi," She called before her eyes landed on Henry.
Everyone else on the table turned their heads to us as well. Oh jeez…
The look on Dad's face wasn't good at all. I was going to be dead meat if anything went wrong. Well, it wasn't my fault my so-called boyfriend
I hadn't seen in months decided to show up when there was a meeting going on with my supposed future in-laws.
"Hi," I smiled and waved nervously. "So… I'll be back here soon." I held Henry's hand, running up the stairs really fast as I pulled him with me.
"What's going on?" He asked mid-way.
I didn't give him an answer but continued running, scampling really fast.
I rushed into my room with him, slammed the door shut and clicked it twice to lock it.
I rested my back against the door like there was a demon from a horror movie coming behind us to take our dear lives.
"Do you care to explain what this shenanigans is all about?" He didn't look pleased by this welcoming.
"I'm so sorry." I apologized.
I was finally able to admire his beauty. His ocean blue eyes made my tense self relax. His blonde hair was neat this time. He was dressed in a neatly-ironed red flannel shirt and black denim trousers with red and white Chuck Taylors. "Wow! You look… amazing." I smiled, walking closer to him.
He held my waist while my hands went on his neck. "That doesn't change the fact that you welcomed me shabbily."
"It wasn't shabby." I bit my lower lip flirtatiously. My eyes were fixed on his lips, internally pleading for them to make contact with mine.
As if he read my mind, he connected our lips together for a long kiss.
We explored each other's mouth for a while. Kissing him never missed a chance to amaze. It was always so special to me because it happened between us only once in a while, except the air kisses through phone calls and video calls. We finally broke apart from the kiss.
"I've missed you so much." I stated the obvious and he nodded with a grin.
"Who are those people downstairs?" He asked.
"They're one of Dad's very important business people. Dad hosted a Family dinner for both families and he doesn't want anything to go wrong." I explained, not giving him the full details. I felt terrible for not telling him about the planned marriage. I didn't want to know his reaction towards it; what if it caused him to break up with me again? I wasn't going to bear it.
"Oh, that explains it all." He smiled. "Aren't you supposed to be there right now?" He reminded me of that very important fact.
"Yes, yes. Gosh… Dad will be so mad at me." I dropped my hands to my sides and he let go of my waist. "You'll wait here, right?" I needed to confirm that, though I already knew his answer was going to be positive.
"Sure, as long as I can use your laptop to study?" I internally rolled my eyes at his over-seriousness with studying.
"Sure." I agreed, gave his lips a quick peck, remembered to take my phone from the nightstand this time, unlocked the door and scuttled out of the room.
I found my way down the stairs, praying that all was going to be fine.
"Who's that?!" Mitchell asked, immediately I returned to the dining.
"He's a friend of mine." I responded, borrowing one of Ensley's angelic smiles.
"Really?" She didn't sound convinced enough.
"Yes." I pulled out my chair beside Jax who had barely made a full sentence since they arrived, had my seat. "He just arrived from Canada. He doesn't want to disrupt this dinner so he's in the second living room upstairs." The partial lie rolled out of my mouth easily.
"Mitchell, it's okay." Edward shook his head.
"Oh, it is?" She asked rhetorically.
"Can we just get done with dinner so the future couple can have their private talk?" Edward said, laughing. For some reason, Dad joined him to laugh, though it wasn't anywhere close to being funny.
My phone chimed in my hand. I raised it to my face, noticing a new message from a number.
*Hi. This is Jax. I'm definitely not interested in having this so-called private conversation with you tonight so I'd rather do other important things which include being blazing hot, than have the nonsense. So… we should meet some other time to talk, not tonight.*
