Manning forced his lips together so he wouldn’t shout at Hush to start talking and passed the first building marking the outlying suburbs of the city and the end of the forest. “Why did Diamond tie you to the tree?”
“I don’t know.” Hush looked at him, his strange silvery eyes wide. “Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn’t…or Diamond never does it, it’s the one he’s bringing.”
“North?”
Hush tilted his head to the side. “For a while it was always North, but then he disappeared.” It pissed Manning off that he looked sad about it. North was a piece of s**t and to know he’d been near Hush had him gritting his teeth.
“North never tied me up. He was kind, kept me healthy.”
