The Substitute Wife

Chapter Eight

"I accidentally slipped my legs earlier while I was in the farm and hit the stone, but it's already cleaned up and fine.." Alexander's expression didn't fade. He touched her knees slowly and kissed them. It made her flinch from the stinging pain. And he had noticed it.

" Next time be careful, mi amore. I was only gone for a day but you already harmed yourself. " He stood up and took off his blazer. Sandy was left on the bed covering her naked body with the comforter. Later on, he was back in the bedroom with a band aid in his hand.

" I think it's not necessary since Levi had already cleaned-"

" Levi? You let another man touch you, Amara?" The way her husband looked at her was something she didn't expect. His eyes were piercing through her head as if she was kind of a dirty person. She was shocked and at the same time hurt. Sandy quickly questioned herself what just happened?

" He's a doctor-"

"But did you let him touch your knees? Answer me, Amara." She nearly jumped after he spit his words. Alexander's jaw was clenched as he looked at her. He was out of control after hearing another man.

"I.. I didn't mean to, he just cleaned my bruises.." Sandy was getting scared for the first time. What she was seeing now wasn't her husband like before. He was darker than she had imagined, scarier than she had thought. Things started to crept her entire body, just thinking about how she was all alone with those strangers together with him. She wanted to escape and never came back.

"You disappointed me tonight, Amara. Clean yourself again," He stormed in front of her after saying his final words. She was left alone, dumbfounded and confused about his actions. He thought of her as the dirtiest woman who was only treated with some nice people. What's more if he saw her talking with Levi earlier? But those things didn't matter to Sandy, what she had witnessed now was scaring her. She began to think that she was living with a monster.

"Ms. Amara, master, wanted you to wear this dress tonight. He was waiting for you in the dining room, please be there before he lost his senses." Irish was the one who came and helped her. She was already done bathing herself for the second time, more on cleaning herself.

" T-thanks.. Was he that angry right now? " She wanted to hide away from him. Sandy didn't expect that it would be a big deal for him. Levi was only helping her earlier.

"You'll be fine, Ms. Amara. I will take my leave now," she was left dumbfounded again. Sandy was battling herself whether to put the clothes on or she would escape the dinner with her husband. Just thinking about facing him after what had just happened was losing her confidence. It would be better if he can't see her. In that way Alexander won't remember that another man had touched her.

"Just f*****g cut them off damn it! Don't wait for me to do the job.!" She was near the dining room when Alexander's voice echoed in the place. Sandy's whole body was shivering. Her legs stopped moving and all she did was to stand up. She might drop herself if she takes another step forward. All in all, she was already terrified. It took her a few minutes to decide whether to go downstairs or not. But here she was, being a coward in the middle of the night. It's nearly 8 o'clock in the evening when she finished preparing herself.

"What are you doing there, mi amore? Come here, let's eat our dinner." And as expected, she was scared to death upon seeing her husband's presence in front of her. Her knees began to weaken, it was obvious that she was scared of him. Sandy's breathing was heavy, she slowly took her steps back away from him. She was clueless where she had the strength to do so. All she had in mind was to stay away from him.

"Mi amore, don't do that. I'm not going to hurt you, forgive me if I suddenly get mad earlier. I'm a territorial person, and I don't like it when someone is touching what's mine. I'm sorry, baby.." He slowly reached out to her and pulled towards him. Sandy's body was hardened when he hugged her, he kissed her forehead countless times. She tried to calm herself down and control her breathing.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.."

"It's okay, mi amore. I forgive you already. But don't let anyone touch you again, are we clear?" Obediently, she nodded her head. Alexander carried her body and went into the table. He placed her next to the chair he was in before he settled down.

"Eat a lot, I knew you didn't have your breakfast earlier. I shouldn't have left you last night."

Sandy searches for something to talk about. But she was completely muted to respond to him. She timidly took the fork and knife and began to eat. Ignoring her husband's presence next to her, she just realized how hungry she was.

" You should sleep early tonight, we will leave tomorrow in the morning." Although she was confused about Alexander tonight. She chooses to stay focused and act normally in front of him. It would also be good to leave the villa, just in case she will be meeting Levi again. It will surely create a misunderstanding once her husband will see them.

"And one more thing, we will be attending a party tomorrow night. Prepare yourself," He added again which flustered her whole system. It would be the first time she will meet new people from her husband's world. What could she expect? He never introduced her to his family members, not even his friends or relatives.

" Party? "

" It's my cousin's engagement party," He answered calmly and continued eating. Sandy stared at him dumbly and thought about what was going on. It was all unexpected. But at least, finally, he will introduce her to his family. She once longed for it.
