CHAPTER 18 She heard muffled sounds outside her bedroom door and sat up, trying to remember if she had actually fallen asleep or not. It was before dawn. The chickens weren’t even ready to awaken the world with their clucking. Hannah hadn’t bothered to undress the night before, so she stepped out of bed, straightened her blouse, and tiptoed to the door.
