Camilla Being alone isn't a very nice feeling. I can't even remember the last time I felt alone, probably five years ago when I ran away from home, at least before I met Cain. I opened the door to the penthouse and Derrick walked in with me. I'm not sure if he usually spends the night here with Damon or if he's just doing it because Damon isn't here and it's his job to keep me safe. "Welcome home ma'am, dinner will be served in few minutes." I almost gagged when he called me ma'am. A man old enough to be my father if not older referring to me as ma'am. "Please call me Camilla, I'll feel more comfortable if you do." "I don't think I can do that ma'am, Mr Salvador won't appreciate it. How about I call you by your last name?" I think that will even be better. "Please, that will be much more appreciated." I offered him a small smile before I retired upstairs, to Damon's bedroom. I showered, washing away the stress of today. I changed into one of the clothes that I packed before going downstairs to have dinner. I very much ate dinner alone, I invited Derrick, Jackie the cook and Simone to join me, but the blatantly refused to join me. I ended up picking on my food because of loss of appetite and loneliness. I tried keeping myself busy with Netflix after dinner, but because I wasn't in the mood for movies, it didn't do much in helping to kill my boredom. I couldn't even call Damon because I'm yet to get his new line, and Cain on the other hand is out on a date with this new lady he met at the club last week. Not knowing what else to do, I switched off the television, picked a pint of ice cream from the freezer before retiring to the bedroom to keep myself busy with the book I took from the library. At least, I'm always in the mood to read new romantic novel. Going to sleep is another option, but I don't want to fall asleep because I'm waiting for Damon's call. We promised to hear each other's voice everyday, and I don't want to believe that he will break his promise just on day one. He did break his promise. I eyes still feels heavy even after spending sometime under the shower just to make me feel awake but here I am, sitting on the back seat of the Benz, looking like Panda with dark circles round my eyes. I'm sure even Derrick can notice them despite the excessive foundation powder on my face. "Can we please stop at that coffee shop so I can get a cup of office?" I requested the moment I saw my favorite coffee shop in view. Derrick parked the car just outside the coffee shop and I got down, mumbled a thank you to him before walking into the shop. I joined the queue of coffee fetchers, my attention solely lost on my phone. I was busy checking my phone constantly for any missed calls or message from Damon, but I always ended up with disappointment. "We meet again." Some whispered in my eyes which made me jerk forward in fright, knocking someone's coffee in the process. "I'm so sorry... that was definitely a mistake... please." I winced at the glare she directed towards me. "Please, let me get you another cup of coffee" "So I'm supposed to wait until it's your turn right?" She huffed at me "you were obviously on the line, what business do you have with me who isn't any where close to you that you had to knock my coffee over?" "She already apologized," Rex pointed out as he came to my defense. It's your fault that we are even having this conversation in the first place. "what's your order?" He asked her as he made his way towards the counter, not even giving a f**k that people are giving him ugly glares for skipping the line. "Caffeine with enough cream" the girl replied, slightly surprised that he is really getting her a cup of coffee. He relayed the other to the guy at the counter then carried the coffee over to the girl "I hope you accept her apology now." She flipped her hair to the right, suddenly blushing "you didn't have to bother, afterall, you weren't the one who spilled my coffee." "I scared her, she jerked forward in fright and ended up knocking your coffee over in the process. From where I'm standing, it's pretty obvious that it's my fault." She smiled flirtingly at him, her lips widening in smile which isn't even warranted at this point. I mean she was literally scowling at me few minutes ago, what's with the bogus smile? "My name is Salome, but my friends call me Sal" "Good for them" he deadpanned before pointing towards me "that lady over there who spilled your coffee on you is my woman, and is quite the jealous type." Every eyes in the coffee shop turned to me, the supposed girlfriend. I sank deeper into the collar of my shirt, wishing that the earth will just open and swallow me. The door opened and Derrick walked in, looking so huge in this tiny place. "Is everything okay Miss Scott?" Rex sized him up with his eyes, his lips tightening in a thin line "and you are?" He asked as he approached us, Sarah...was it Sarah she called herself or... yeah I got it, Salome. He approached us, Salome long forgotten "who are you? You think looking like goddamn Hulk is going to prevent me from asking that question?" Thankfully, the guy at the counter handed me my coffee, I quickly paid him then turned to Rex "I wish I could say it was nice meeting you again, but see what it led to," I said pointing towards Salome's stained shirt. "I have to get back to work, and I really hope we don't run into each other again" His face tightened in pain, especially when Salome snickered behind him. He turned and glared at her which shut her up. "Is Hulk the reason why you've been pushing me away?" He took a step towards me and Derrick took a menacing one forward. "Chill dude, I just want to talk to her" "I'm really getting late Rex, not make this harder than it is. I'm grateful that you stepped up for me few minutes ago, but I want you to also remember that it wouldn't have happened if not because of you. So I owe you no favor, always remember that." I walked out is the shop without giving him the chance to say anything. Derrick opened the door for me and I got in before he rounded the car to get into the driver's seat. He started the car and rolled away with ease. "is that man bothering you?" Rex can be stubborn, but I don't think it has gotten to the extent of telling Derrick that he is bothering me. I wonder what he will do to him if I should say he is bothering me. "He's not bothering me, I only said those words earlier to stop you both from getting into a fight with each other." "I don't get into fist fight with teenagers, it's downright childish and exhausting. I use the easiest means possible to shut them up." "Easiest means possible?" Amazed at how reasoning, I couldn't help but ask "and what could that be? What could be the easiest means instead of using your fist?" He did not give me any reply, instead, he increased the volume of the music which has been playing softly ever since I got into this car. I took that as my cue to keep my mouth shut, so I did exactly that. I arrived at the library a little later than before that Mrs Jacklyn our boss glared at me through her window. I purposely swayed my hips just to annoy her the more. Throughout all the years I've spent working here, despite my battle with alcohol, I've never checked in late to work today, and this one time that it is happening, instead of her to worried about me, she is standing there glaring at me with those ridiculous glasses. I know she owns the library and all that, which means she will definitely be addicted to books, but that doesn't mean she should always dress so... mean and overly serious. "Try not to murder her with your eyes." "Well she's trying to murder me with hers" I defended before hugging him. I drew back a little to stare at him "you look quite happy and... Satisfied this morning." I waggled my brows at him "it seems someone got lucky this morning." I don't really care about Cain's s*x life, never have, never will. It was at the early stage of our friendship that he kept on introducing his girlfriends to me, new different faces every week, I eventually got tired of remembering their names, and I think he also got tired of introducing them to me. "My s*x life isn't your business, stop trying to get involved, it's disgusting and you're late, for the first time if I must point out" I rubbed my hands on my eyes tiredly "about that, I didn't sleep properly last night." His worried eyes scanned my body, but I waved him off "you don't have to worry, I'm sure it's insomnia, it will definitely get better." "Yeah, or maybe you should return to your at apartment so you can have a proper rest at night." I opened my mouth to say something, but he held up his index finger at me "do not disturb yourself with a response, I already know what you want to say. You look like s**t by the way." He brought his face closer to mine "definitely like an embalmed Panda." I slapped him on the shoulder "be nice to the old lady young man." He nudged towards Derrick and the Benz "you brought your driver along with you today again yah?" I didn't bother correcting him that he is not my driver, that he is Damon's driver. Infact, I ignored him altogether as I walked into my section of the library. He followed me inside and I arched a brow at him "Mrs Jacklyn is going to throw a fit if she walks in here and sees you chatting this early in the morning." "She can suck my d**k. It's pretty obvious that she slaves us here, then pay us very little at the end of the month." He pulled out a stool and sat and just beside the counter, very close to me "have you heard from your Spanish guy?" Damon is yet to call me or text me, which is very painful if I must confess. "Yes, I spoke with him last night." I lied, keeping the information short and precise so he won't call me out on my lie. He must have bought my lie because he smiled at me "good, I was beginning to worry that your sleepiness night was because of loneliness. It's nice that you spoke to him." I looked up from the journal "_but?" "Do you really know what his family really does in Spain?" He must have sensed my confusion "I meant for a living. Do you know what his family does for a living?" He always mentioned about his family business and companies. I never really asked what his family is into or what the company is all about. "Wine company?" My answer sounded more like a question than an answer to my ear. "The witch is coming." Cain announced as he stood up from the stool. "You aren't even sure of your answer to me Camy, you have to know this basic things about the guy you are dating. You were once a law student, I expect you to be smart in some things." Having said his mind, he walked out through the exit door while Mrs Jacklyn walked in through the entrance door. She narrowed her eyes at me "where is that friend of yours?" I feigned ignorance "Cain? He is not here, maybe you should go find him in his section or the male bathroom." She glared at me before walking away. My phone which was on the counter pointed, notifying me about a new message. I unlocked my phone and read the message. I'm sorry cariño for not calling as promised, I've been dead busy, twenty four hours isn't even enough for me. I'll call you tonight, I promise. X Damon I grinned like an i***t as I clutched the phone hard. At least he reached out to me, that is all that matters.
