Why Does It Feel So Cold All Of A Sudden?

Even though I wanted to break away from the kiss, I couldn't and instead drew closer to him, my mate and I purred in delight—the temptation caused by the mate bond. Alpha Oswald's lips curled with mockery, yet he deepened the kiss. His hands reaching for my hair and running his hand through it jolted me awake. I pushed Oswald, parted from me, and glared at him. "What are you doing to me?" I yelled in fury. How dare he play tricks on me? Not only did he invite me over by stirring up Maia, but he dared to kiss me when he had a partner, and he was intent on kicking me out of the power axis. Oswald shrugged, his face was calm as if he wasn't the one who just cheated on his Luna. This man is simply a jerk and I can't believe that I was mated to such a person as him. "A deep warning, mate." He says in that deep, sexy voice of his which weakens my resolve again. What's happening to me? "You don't want to be on my bad side," Alpha Oswald warned. I sighed, knowing he was right, but asking me to go with his order is certainly impossible for an arrogant being like me, especially when we don't see eye to eye. I took a deep breath and tried to be as gentle and soft as I could, "Can you let me stay in the power Axis pack? I promise not to trouble you." I said in the softest tone I could decipher. Even though I was already dead to the world; finding a pack to stay in with such a face as mine would be difficult because I didn't know how much my picture had been spread by my uncle or how accommodating the packs are. Besides, I need a place to stay to build myself before returning to the Red Flame Pack. Yes, one day I'll return to take over all that has been snatched from me. I promised to pay an eye for an eye. A life for a life "No." Alpha Oswald pronounced bluntly. "You should understand my intent is to kick you out." He replied with a mischievous smirk. I thought I had a leash on my anger due to all I've gone through, but now I feel that the concept is wrong; I so much want to beat this proud and infuriating Alpha up. "And I promised not to give up without a fight." I retorted with determination. Alpha Oswald held my chin, a wicked smirk playing on his face, "It's not up to you. This is a game you've lost from the beginning." I smacked his hand away and glared at him. "We shall see," I replied and stormed away from him. I had just arrived at the entrance of the forest when my steps came to a halt. I bit my lips and tried to settle on my thoughts. Now I began to feel a pang of regret within. This is Alpha Oswald we were talking about; did I just interact with him like that? How can I be so stupid? I should have restrained my anger and arrogance and been nothing but a docile girl until he softened. Now I ended up with an Alpha who wanted to kick me out at all costs. While I was battling and blaming myself, Maia purred with ecstasy, "Our mate is so domineering and handsome…" "Shut up!" I retorted angrily and took a deep breath to calm myself. I knew this wasn't the time to blame myself, rather it was the time to act. 'Maybe I need to return to the forest to beg Alpha Oswald. I can't afford to lose the only chance to have a pack that'll protect me. Even if he wants me to kneel...' "I should go," I muttered decisively, and began to walk deep into the forest. I was yet to take the fourth step when I heard a familiar voice behind me. "Maia?" I turned to see Asher smiling and walking toward me. "Doctor Asher," I called, and bowed to him slightly. Asher's face wrinkled into a frown, "I told you to call me Asher. I sounded like an old man there." He joked and threw his hand on my shoulder and I nodded. "Right, what are you doing here? The Luna Queen ordered to see you. And Nancy has been looking for you." He casually said. I bit my lower lips, knowing I couldn't tell Asher the truth. I said, "I was out to get fresh air because it was…" I was yet to complete his words when a deep pressure wrapped around me, suffocating me. I could feel my mate's anger, his pressure was so strong that the surrounding air felt so cold. Asher removed his hand from my shoulder and rubbed his shoulder, "Why does it feel so cold all of a sudden?" I looked around, but I couldn't find a trace of Alpha Oswald. Yet I couldn't be more sure that he was around, and I understood that he was secretly giving me a deep warning. "You said Nancy was searching for me, right? I'm leaving." I waved to Asher and bolted away from the forest. I don't want to be kicked out! "There you are!" Nancy yelled and rushed toward me and then held my hand as soon as I arrived in the pack. "Where were you all day?" She said as if I had left for over 40 minutes, making me roll my eyes. "In the forest taking fresh air." I lied and she sighed. "Don't go there too much, Alpha announced a few days ago that they found traces of rogues at the border," Nancy informed me. "Really?" Nancy nodded and pulled me along as we walked the pack. The Power Axis pack was a huge one, the biggest pack of the wolf clan. As we walked the tiled floor that decorated the pack, an identical grand-looking pack house with fresh-trimmed lawn and fountain decorated each side of the street making me let out a gasp. The Power Axis pack was sparkling clean, unlike the red flame pack which was filled with untrained wolves who don't know how to keep the pack clean ever since my parents' death. Now that I was announced dead, would they feel sad? After all, the princess/slave who does all the job is gone. Unlike the Red Flame pack who only knew how to make snide remarks, the pack members we met across the way were very friendly. They all had wide smiles on their faces as they greeted Nancy and me, which slowly calmed my nerves. Yet after arriving at the Oasis pack house where Nancy resides, Nancy didn't come to a stop and instead continued to walk down. "Where are we going to?" I asked her with curiosity. "There." Nancy pointed at a distant mansion. "The Luna Queen would like to see you, so we are currently going to the Alpha's mansion." She revealed. "Luna Queen?" I whispered, feeling unconscious of myself. To think that I've actually forgotten about the meeting with the Luna Queen. I pulled at my clothes trying to straighten any wrinkles on them. I felt so anxious meeting the woman who should have become my mother-in-law, had it been… Nancy stroked my hand, "Relax Maia. Our Luna Queen is so friendly and sweet. You'll fall in love with her in seconds." Nancy explained to comfort me. Unfortunately, that couldn't calm my anxiety at all because all I kept remembering was how cruel Luna Anabelle was to me. She treated me like dirt every time ever since my parents died, unlike before their death where she used to be my favorite aunt. Still, I forced out a smile and continued to follow Nancy. My heart caught in my throat. Although I wished it would take longer, soon we arrived at an expansive three-story mansion with imported marble floors and walls and intricate architecture that encased its splendor and majesty. It was the perfect fit for a royal! Although I spent twelve years of my life living in the Red Flame pack palace, I was stunned by the splendor of the Alpha King pack house because it was a sight I had never seen before. "Beautiful right?" Nancy asked and I nodded absentmindedly. "This building stately belongs to the Alpha and Luna in rule. It was said to be built by the first king of the Red Flame pack for every Alpha in history except, Alpha Oswald who chose not to leave here though," Nancy explained. I gasped in disbelief, "Why? This is so beautiful!" Even a fool will choose this mansion above any other. 'Our mate isn't a fool.' An angry Maia roared at me which made me roll my eyes. "Who knows? Even when Luna Lorelei pleaded with him to, he refused, which was the reason Alpha King and Luna Queen reside here up to date." Nancy explained. I scoffed inwardly. Looking at Alpha Oswald, one would see that he had nothing but a screw loose, or else what explanation can hold his reason for what he did to me and his reason for dissing such a beautiful mansion. The warriors who were positioned at the front of the mansion let us in and Nancy led the way with extreme familiarity. Stepping into the mansion made me feel as if I had stepped into a fantasy. With marble floors the color of an ocean and the marble wall the color of the blue sky. On a double seater white sofa sat Luna Lorelei who was going through an entertainment magazine elegantly and walking down the stairs was a beautiful lady who seemed to be in her early thirties. Even without being told, I knew she was Alpha Oswald's mother judging by their identical face. "Mom." Lorelei stood up and walked toward the Luna Queen. She hooked her arms with the Luna Queen, who smiled instantly. They both exchanged pleasantries before Luna Queen turned to me.
