SIX FEET DEEP

A hand suddenly grabbed my chin, albeit gently, and a warm liquid which I recognized as herbal soup poured down my throat. At the bitter taste, I coughed loudly and spit it out immediately. Soon, my face knitted into a frown due to bewilderment and the pain that was coursing through my body. I was thrown down the cliff by the two guards. I hit a giant rock headfirst before I fell into the ocean underneath the cliff. I ended up losing consciousness due to pain and suffocation and I believe that I should be dead by now, yet I don't understand what was going on. Do dead people feel pain? After exerting my strength, my eyes, which seemed to be as heavy as lead, finally flew wide open. I glanced at the room I was in. I find myself in a room painted white and filled with lavender fragrance. Except for the soft bed I was lying on and a drawer that was placed next to the bed, the room was empty. A spoon appeared in my view which made me glance at the side; I saw a lady in her twenties dressed in a white half-apron coupled with a black skirt. She wore a lace headpiece and black high heels. "You're awake." She said softly and gestured the spoon to me. I shook my head and tried to sit up, but a wave of pain rushed through my body which added to the dull headache I was having, making me wince and return to my original position. "The doctor instructed you to take a bowl of herbal soup if you want to heal quickly." The maid muttered, which deepened my frown. "Where am I?" I questioned in a hoarse voice. "At my master's villa deep in the mountains. Master saw your floating body during his boat ride, and he saved you." The maid replied and I nodded in understanding. "I'll take it." I stretched out my hand and began to take the bitter herbal soup while suppressing my urge to barf. The maid quietly stood still while watching me intently, as if she wanted to make sure I didn't spit any of the soup out. After drinking the soup completely, I handed the bowl over to the maid, who gave me a glass of water in return. "I'll call the doctor over." The maid mentioned and left the room immediately. I clenched my fist hard with happiness and disbelief, my heart beating in a hurry. I couldn't believe that I managed to keep my life despite all my uncle did. I thought I was dead, but the moon goddess ended up giving me a second chance to free myself from my uncle and the red flame pack. I promised to treasure my life well. "Alpha Henry." I clenched my fist hard with bitter emotions running through me. "I swear I will make sure you and your family pay for all you have done to me heavily," I swore silently. I kept my mouth shut upon hearing footsteps and soon a handsome young man coupled with the maid entered the room. The handsome young man seemed to be in his twenties and his handsomeness made my heart skip a beat. He had brown eyes, a long and pointed nose coupled with thin red lips, and a gentle smile on his perfectly carved face. I couldn't help but hold my breath as the handsome doctor checked my health with a warm smile on his face. His patchouli scent invades my nose. The doctor seemed to feel my nervousness, and he flashed me a deep smile, "Calm down, mi amor." He said softly, which produced a red on my face. How can he call a stranger like me, Miamor? Immediately, he said so, the maid smacked his head playfully, "Stop it, you flirt." The maid rolled her eyes. The doctor winked at her and flashed her a seductive smile, "It's not my fault I'm born handsome." He retorted with a smug tone. The maid harrumphed and they continued to banter in between my treatment, which made me smile at the warm scene. My mind fell upon remembering the red flame pack. The doctors and nurses treat me like trash every time. They'll purposely mess everything up and ridicule me whenever I'm cleaning. "What are you two doing?" A thick voice suddenly booms in the room, which jolts me out of my thoughts. I craned my neck slightly and saw a man in his twenties who was 6.3ft tall with a muscular body. He had straight eyebrows, black eyes, a long and pointed nose, a well-carved jaw, thin red lips, and a blank expression. The man's expression was cold all through, and he was in a black suit. "Hey. Back soon, Beta Wyatt." The doctor grinned at the tall man. "I wondered when you'd learn not to quibble during treatment, Asher." Beta Wyatt grumbled and leaned against the wall. His black eyes fell on me coldly, and he seemed to evaluate me with his gaze before looking away a few seconds later. Throughout that period, my heart was pounding because I had the inkling that Beta Wyatt was someone I should never mess with. "It's not my fault Nancy finds me attractive." Doctor Asher replied with a mischievous grin. "Who finds you attractive?" Nancy smacked Asher again and stomped out of the room, but not before greeting Beta Wyatt politely. There was silence in the room until Beta Wyatt suddenly questioned, "How's she?" "She has almost recovered." Doctor Asher replied and turned to me with a smile, "Hey, you heal quickly for an omega. It's hard to believe you'll survive that fall." Doctor Asher winked at me with a grin. I squeezed my finger nervously, "I didn't expect it either. I guess I'm lucky." I replied quietly. Beta Wyatt suddenly stared at me and made his way toward the side of my bed. "What's your name? Where are you from and why did you commit suicide?" He asked me with his penetrating gaze and cold voice. I swallowed hard, shivering with fear at his freezing gaze. Due to the fact that I became a slave before I could attend the royal family meeting, I was unable to recognize which pack Beta Wyatt hails from, and it made me worried that it was likely for them to know me once I mentioned my real name. After all, my name was famously known in the werewolf clan before my parents' death. Back then, a lot of princes and princesses liked to make a trip to the red flame pack to see my face, play with me, and make connections. Unfortunately, Alpha Henry immediately ordered them to stop seeing me after my parents' death so none of them would know I was being maltreated by him and his family. I don't know how many days I have been unconscious, but I know that my death has likely spread around the Wolf clans. And after everything I've gone through in the Red Flame pack, I don't want to return there in the meantime until I'm a strong version of myself. Even though I don't know who Beta Wyatt is, I'd rather leave with him than return to the Red Flame pack. "My. My name is Maia." I spurned out a lie nervously. I lowered my eyes, afraid that Beta Wyatt would stare into my eyes, and discover that I was lying. "Maia? A beautiful name for a beautiful omega." Doctor Asher winked at me, which made my face burn red. I was relieved that they seemed to buy my lie except that… "Maia?" Beta Wyatt suddenly called with a frown on his face. My heart skipped a beat. It couldn't be that he knew I was lying, could he? I gulped and nodded my head nervously. "Reply to my other questions." He finalized and I sighed in relief. "I hailed from the Green Mist pack. My parents died a few months ago, and I was driven out by my greedy relatives who wanted all my parents' property to themselves. I decided to commit suicide due to frustration." I quickly weaved a half-lie and half-truth, shedding crocodile tears while praying to the moon goddess that Beta Wyatt doesn't know the truth. My heart was pounding through the ordeal because Beta Wyatt's face was cold throughout, as if he didn't believe my words. His black eyes were firmly locked on me, but upon remembering that this was my only chance, I gritted my teeth and refused to dodge his gaze. Beta Wyatt made his way beside me, his steps clicking against the floor one after the other until he was right in front of me. His sandalwood scent wrapped around me strongly. He stared at me hard, which made me swallow due to fear and nervousness, my stomach churning. "I don't tolerate some of these identities who want to enter my pack; a runaway princess from another pack, a slave who's sworn to the king, a pack traitor, etc." Beta Wyatt paused and stared at me coldly. My heart was thumping against my chest at this rate, and it was a wonder how none of them heard my chaotic heartbeat. "And if it turns out that you lied about your identity…" Beta Wyatt's finger suddenly made a slicing motion which almost made me jump. "You'll be six feet deep." He finalized with a harsh stern voice. "I… I…" I stuttered nervously, but before I could say anything, Beta Wyatt threw his hand across Asher's shoulder. "Let's leave." He ordered and Asher grinned. "You heartless thing. You shocked my patient." Asher murmured as they left the room. I heaved a sigh when they left the room, the pressure I felt unshackled immediately. Even though I do like to believe that I'm fearless and arrogant, I was a lot affected by Beta Wyatt's presence, especially his black eyes which seemed to be staring deep into my soul. "What if they find out our identity?" Maia, my wolf, suddenly questioned, which made my heart skip a beat. "I can only hope they don't find out or else we'll truly be six feet deep. Beta Wyatt looked so cold and stern, and I'm sure his method will be worse than uncle's." I sighed regretfully. I can only pray that Beta Wyatt doesn't find the truth out or else I'm dead, but will that be possible?
