Laurel Kevin and Kyle’s voices reach me as I unlock the door. They are playing video games, I realize as I hear Kevin trying to tease his father with the best trash talking a six-year-old can dish out. I snicker as I shut the door loudly so they know I’m home. “Aunt Relly! Come see, I’m kicking Daddy’s can.” I step in my shoulders shaking. Kyle sits there his eyes narrowed as he tries not to laugh. “Show me. Then Aunt Relly needs to eat. I am stahhhhving.” I tell him holding my stomach dramatically. Kevin demonstrates his can kicking skills and I laugh all the way to the kitchen. “Long day?” Kyle asks as he fixes Kevin a bedtime snack. “Interesting day.” I tell him about Grantham and his little contest he came up with.
