Chapter 30: Royalty

“Mhir.” Leui called Mhir. They can see the wheat fields again, but the shack has disappeared. “Hush now. That fairy lied.” He told her. “Hmph! How dare she badmouth Lord Loheiruchel!” she said and stomped her feet. Leui grimaced when he saw a dent and a c***k on the ground. “Yes, yes. I’m already hungry. Let’s go find some food now.” He told her as he put the scythe on his back. Mhir didn’t argue anymore since her stomach loudly roared. Her face became red because of embarrassment. She immediately walked away. Leui secretly smiled as he followed behind her. The road is empty and two shadows formed on the ground with the help of the moonlight. One is a short dwarf. The other one is a man wearing a cloak and a death scythe on his hand. In the castle, King Khander stared at the portraits of his ancestors hanging on the walls. His gaze landed on the sixth portrait – Filur. The previous five portraits of their ancestors were personally painted by Filur. He is a man who is a master of both sword and brush. Khander’s sight then landed on the right side of the hall where ten portraits were hanging but there’s only one man on the ten portraits. The first portrait is a young man with short hair wearing bizarre clothes. The second portrait is the young man wearing a commoner’s clothes. The third portrait is the young man with shoulder-length hair wearing a knight’s clothes. The fourth portrait is the young man wearing a noble’s clothes. The fifth portrait is of a man who has long hair and a longing look in his eyes. The sixth portrait is of the man who is smiling happily while lovingly gazing at a male elf afar. The seventh portrait is of the man wearing a king’s clothes and has waist-long hair. The eighth portrait is of the man who is wearing wedding clothes with a male elf standing in front of him. The ninth portrait is of the man wearing a noble’s clothes while holding the male elf’s hand. The tenth portrait is a man wearing a black hooded cloak, his long brown hair falling on his chest and his brown eyes are empty and cold. He is holding a scythe. The portraits were unquestionably detailing the history of Loheiruchel. They were painted by Filur – the witness of Loheiruchel’s greatness, and downfall when Loheiruchel’s male elf wife died during the war, and Loheiruchel disappeared after he stabilized the human race. Filur became the second king – after Loheiruchel was forced to be the first one during the war. Khander heard footsteps approaching him, waking him up from his thoughts. He turned and saw his daughter – Fleur Eliese. Fleur is the title of a princess, and he only has one. He doesn’t have a son, either, since after Eliese was born, his wife unfortunately died. He didn’t find a new wife, since he only has one person he loved for this lifetime. He will choose an heir from their relatives to replace him when the time comes. Then, he will relieve Eliese as a princess for her to find her own happiness in life. “Father.” Fleur Eliese called and curtsied. “Something is bothering your mind?” she asked. She has beautiful raven hair, and her eyes are like black gemstones shining. Her skin is fair and smooth. Khander shook his head as he removed his gaze from Loheiruchel’s portraits. However, Fleur Eliese saw them. She hid her sigh and she smiled. It was thanks to Loheiruchel who brought peace in the human land. If he’s alive today, she will not hesitate to marry him out of responsibility if ever he would ask her to marry him. But, she knows Loheiruchel loved only one person. And, she, too, already has someone she loves. She noticed that her father seems to be thinking – hoping, Loheiruchel might still be alive. That he was just hiding for five hundred years, somewhere in the continent. But, Loheiruchel is a human. Even if they can reach a hundred years, they will never reach a span of five hundred years. Thus, Loheiruchel can only be dead. No one knew of his origin, even Filur. Thus, when he disappeared, and assumed dead, everyone grieved, but there’s no one to call as his family. Aside from the royal family. They included Loheiruchel’s name in their family register as Filur’s brother. Then, they honored him by placing his name on the royal mausoleum. Starting then, Filur’s descendants honored Loheiruchel every time they came to pray for their ancestors. “In one month, it’d be the 506th year the Great War concluded.” Khander said as they stopped in front of the royal mausoleum. “Tomorrow will be the third to the last full moon to conclude the 506 years of peace we are experiencing.” He said. “Father also felt the leaves are getting restless.” Fleur Eliese spoke. Khander didn’t answer, since both of them are aware. “Bring the priests with you tomorrow to pray with you in the mausoleum.” He told her. “Especially the priests with the elves’ blood,” he added. Loheiruchel’s male wife is an elf. Loheiruchel loves the land, and Khander hopes bringing Loheiruchel’s wife’s kin – even though their blood is, could quell the restlessness of the continent. “Yes, father.” Fleur Eliese answered and respectfully bowed. She watched as her father left. Then, she looked at the royal mausoleum. She stared at it for a long time, before she respectfully bowed. Then, she left. Three days later, Rainbow Village. “WOW…!!!” Mhir breathed heavily as her clear green eyes reflected the colorful field before them. The different kinds of flowers were neatly arranged like an elongated but flat rainbow on the ground. They could also smell the aromatic scent of flowers. “This is beautiful!” she exclaimed, her hands cupped on her chest as she jumped down the covered wagon. Leui shook his head and paid the driver with three gold ingots. He and Mhir had been walking down the road with no one in sight after they left the wheat fields. Mhir almost lost it when suddenly, they saw a covered wagon afar. Mhir thought it was a trap again, and Leui tested the space with the scythe. When they confirmed nothing changed, they immediately approached the wagon’s driver and asked him for food. Then, they began travelling with him after they heard he was going to the Capital to sell the bartered materials on his wagon. Leui and Mhir immediately bought food and other necessities from him – including clothes. They immediately changed from rags to riches. Then, before they knew it, they'd been travelling for three days. They passed by villages and also bought the delicacies. The people clamored around them two when they saw gold and silver ingots in Leui’s bag. They asked where he came from. He answered he’s a young noble went out to play with his female dwarf attendant. Mhir looked like she’s really into their play. The people believed Leui because of his youthful place and his hair and eyes of different color from theirs. Leui also went down the wagon while the driver of the wagon went home to his wife and children. Anyway, he and Mhir are not in a hurry to the Capital. Leui only went to the humans’ kingdom to sightsee. After he’d have his fill, he’ll return to the Central Plaza with Mhir. As for Tinum? Leui scoffed, his mood dampened. He feasted his eyes with the beautiful sight to alleviate his mood, but he’s wishing in his heart he could watch this breathtaking sight along with a breathtaking male elf. “Which color do you like the most?”  a man’s voice asked. “Red.” Another voice answered. “Why?” “It’s the color closest to the color of your hair and eyes.” Leui blinked, feeling lightheaded. He turned and saw Mhir standing beside him. “Hm?” she said when she turned and saw him looking like he lost his soul. “Leui, what’s wrong?” she asked, worry in her voice. “I – “ Leui said as he shook his head, shaking off the haziness in his mind. “- I seem I just had a dream.” He answered.
