"Amber." I said again, my mind taking it's dead time to catch up with everything.
"How?" I asked. "How did this happen to you? Why did mother do this to you? It was her, wasn't it?"
Amber sighed and stared at her arms as though she were seeing it for the first time. "Yes it was mother. She did this to me for you."
I frowned, "for me?"
I couldn't understand how she could possibly have done something so horrible for my benefit. How would I benefit from my own sister becoming a bird?
Amber nodded and took a seat on the ground as though she'd been longing to do so. She was still staring at her body as though she couldn't believe it was before her. "After you broke down in front of her she couldn't function properly. She hated that the fallen angels were the ones that did that to you. The fact that you wouldn't let her deal with them on her own angered her even more. She eventually decided that you couldn't do it on your own."
My eyes widened. "What did mother do?"
My heart was racing now and I wasn't sure whether or not I was prepared for what she was about to say.
"That spell she put on you to go into a deep sleep. It was for much longer than you think. . ."
I froze. "How long?"
Her eyes were sad, I could see the tears threatening to fall. "You've been asleep for 5000 years Amethyst."
My heart stopped beating at her words and I had to fight to catch my breath.
"5000 years?" I asked in disbelief.
This. . . This couldn't be true.
It wasn't possible!
"You must be lying to me. Please tell me you're lying to me!" I begged. "She wouldn't do this to me, mother wouldn't. . ."
The fallen angel's words from before replayed in my head. He was telling the truth, I'd been stuck in that ice structure for centuries.
Why would my own mother do this to me?
"There must be something we can do about this." I cried. "I need to see mother, I need her to correct this mistake."
"Amethyst." Amber whispered with tears flowing down her cheeks. "It's been 5000 years. . . Mother. . . Mother is no more."
My eyes widened. "We age slowly. . . She couldn't have possibly died!"
She nodded. "I know, but 5000 years is still plenty of time. She had been sick for a while. I was trapped as a bird and couldn't help her. One day I came home and she had completely disappeared. I've been searching for her for centuries. . . She's no more sister."
I felt the first tear roll down my cheeks and onto my lips. I could taste it's saltiness as I tried to regain my composure.
"She didn't want you to be alone when you awakened. This date was written on a plaque at home. She made sure that I memorized it. She somehow knew that today was the day the spell would be broken. She trapped me as a bird so that I would also stay the same age as you."
I knew that spell. Mother had taught it to me before. In order to not age, you needed to make a sacrifice. Amber's sacrifice in this case was becoming a bird and being trapped in that body.
I was asleep for so long. So long that I still had all of the emotions I'd had with me the day she'd put me to rest despite it being 5000 years later. It meant that I would grieve for her as though she'd just died.
Why did she not think of this? Why would she do this to me?
I felt my sister's arms around me and I completely broke down before her.
I'd not only lost the man that had promised to be mine forever, I'd also lost my very own mother. . .the woman that meant everything to me. Even though so much time had passed, the pain was still very real. So real that my heart threatened to explode with emotion.

~ANGELO~
The sight before me was a heartbreaking one. The young witch's story was a depressing one. She'd been through hell and awakened centuries later to find out that her mother was no more.
I wouldn't wish such a catastrophe on my worst enemy.
They'd been holding each other and crying for what felt like hours. For some reason my heart tugged at the tears of the witch that had kissed me just a few minutes ago. I touched my lips and then my heart. The feeling of her kiss was electric, it did things to my body that I'd never felt before. However, along with the pleasure that it gave to me also came unwanted pain. The pain in my heart had mimicked that of a heart attack.
Originally I'd thought that the witch had put me under some kind of spell. However, her expression said that she had no idea what was happening to me. Which meant either she had no idea or she was very good at hiding it.
I hesitantly walked towards them both. Unsure whether or not they would want me near them since I was quite sure that it was someone of my kind that had caused most of their troubles.
"ANGELO!" I heard my brother's voice from a distance. "Angelo where are you?"
The women stiffened at his calls and they both turned in the direction of the sound.
"Who is looking for you?" Amethyst asked as she suddenly turned defensive.
I held up my hands to stop her from doing anything that could possibly hurt him. "It's okay. It's just my brother trying to find me, nothing to be alarmed about." He assured me.
My brother's eyes brightened with relief the moment they settled on me.
"Brother!" He exclaimed. "I've been searching everywhere for you! I told you this place is curse—," he trailed off as his eyes evaluated our surroundings.
Nathaniel's eyes widened as he took one look at the puddle of water besides the witches.
"A-Angelo. . ." He whispered in disbelief, the pitch in his voice changing. "Don't tell me you woke the f*****g sleeping witch!"
I pressed the back of my head against the tree behind of me and prepared myself for his outburst.
This ought to be entertaining. . .
