Chapter 5The crazy storm blows over sometime during the night and is replaced by a deep chill. When I step out of my truck at the park after work that evening, the air smells like snow and if I were a betting man, I’d put money on snow before midnight.
I’m a bit early, so I check my phone while I wait for David and Princess. I woke up to a “good morning” message from him, something that both surprised me and caused my belly to tingle with happiness.
The new messages from David make that same happy tingle reappear. I’m picking up Princess now. See you soon, it reads, and it’s followed by a picture of David and Princess cheek to cheek, one happily grinning and the other with a tongue lolling out of her mouth.
