Chapter 2It’s several days before I’m back by my bench again. Thursday and Friday were mayhem at the building site, and I worked late both days. Then I spent the weekend sleeping or conked out on the couch in front of some mindless show or other on the television. I’m still foggy when I go to work on Monday, so at the end of the day, I desperately need a few moments on the bench, whether or not David and Princess will be there. It’s a wonderful day, probably one of the last before winter arrives. The air is clear and so fresh, every breath feels like it’s detoxing my lungs, my entire body. Every exhale expels stress and the toxicity created at work. The foreman reached new levels of bastardness today, blowing up at one of the other guys at the site for not following his exact instructions
