"Finally, I'm a second-year college student now," I whispered to myself with a smile as I walked into the university's computer laboratory. I had just come from the Arts and Sciences Department to submit my registration form and complete my enrollment.
With my enrollment slip in hand, I went to the counter and spoke to the student assistant assigned there.
"Hi, Miss! Can I register an account? I need to use a computer," I said, handing over my enrollment slip.
"Hello, Miss! Sure," she replied before typing on her keyboard. "Miss, you're registered now. You can log in from any unit. But if you prefer, you can use the one at the far end so you won't be disturbed if other students come in later," she suggested politely.
"Thank you, Miss," I replied before heading to the unit she pointed out.
I immediately logged into my YM account after turning on the computer. Since I didn't have anyone to chat with, I browsed a website for a while. After some time, a chat box popped up on my screen.
Sagittarius: "Hi! Care to chat?"
I wasn't planning on replying, but since I was bored, I decided to respond.
SnowQueen18: "Hello! Sure. ASL?" I replied.
"26, M, U.S.A. You?" came the quick response, with a smiling emoticon at the end of the message that made me smile.
"18, F, Philippines."
"Really? Where in the Philippines exactly?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Because I am also from the Philippines. Iloilo to be exact. How about you?"
"Are you serious? I am from Bacolod."
"No way!"
"Yes way, highway!" I answered with several laughing emoticons. "Do you speak Hiligaynon?"
"Of course! And you?"
"Huo, e. Ginoo ko! Abi ko ma-nosebleed pa ako sa imo." (Yes, of course. My goodness! I thought I'd get a nosebleed talking to you.)
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Nalipay gid ako nga may nakilala ako nga kasimanwa diri sa chat. Kasubo abi sang kabuhi diri sa US." (Ha! Ha! Ha! I'm really happy to meet a fellow Hiligaynon speaker here in chat. Life in the US is really lonely.)
"Ay gali? Abi ko masadya ang kabuhi kon ara sa abroad?" (Really? I thought life abroad was fun?)
"Indi man sa tanan nga ti-on. Kapin pa kon indi mo kaupod ang imo pamilya." (Not all the time. Especially when you're not with your family.)
"Indi mo gali upod ang pamilya mo dira? Kon amo na, diin sila ya?" (You mean you're not with your family there? Where are they?)
"Ara lang sila dira sa Iloilo. Ako lang sa amon nga mag-ululutod ang ari diri." (They're just in Iloilo. I'm the only one among my siblings who's here.)
"I see. Naintindihan ko na kon ngaa gakasubuan ka dira." (I see. Now I understand why you're feeling lonely.)

"By the way, are you really from Bacolod?"
"I'm actually from Cebu. But I'm studying here in Bacolod. I'm a second-year college student."
"I see. Anyway, we haven't properly introduced ourselves. My name is Sagittarius Dela Victoria. What's yours?"
"Margaux Cuevas."
"Hi again, Margaux! You have a beautiful name."
"You're a sweet-talker!" I replied.
"Am I too obvious? Ha! Ha! Ha! By the way, what course are you taking?"
"I'm taking up Bachelor of Science in Mathematics."
I couldn't help but smile while typing my response. He was fun to talk to.
"Wow! I think you are one smart lady."
"Not really. How about you?"
"I am a Mechanical Engineer and a professor at one of the universities in New York. I finished my Engineering at the West Institute of Technology in Iloilo."
"Woah! You must be smart and intelligent. Anyway, can I call you Sage? Sagittarius is quite long. You can call me Marg."
"Sure, Marg. I would love you! I mean I would love that!" he replied, with a heart emoticon.
"Great! Anyway, I have to go. I still have a class. See you around, Sage."
"Thank you, Marg. Will there be a next time for us? I enjoyed chatting with you."
"Sure."
"No one would get mad, right?"
"Nope. I'm happy to have met you."
"It's a deal, then. See you around, Marg. I'm happy to know you. Take care."
"You, too. Bye, Sage!"
"Bye, Marg!"
