Chapter 3

2009 Words
She looked at him taken aback by his statement, though she shouldn’t have been surprised. “And will you?” she jumped anxiously. “Not as long as you recall my last threat.” She remembered all too well his threat, wondering if she could endure a bare bottomed spanking. The thought had crossed her mind daily, of his marching her off to his barn, or taking her out to the shed behind her house, raising her skirts, and preparing her for the punishment of her life. Rebecca imagined the feel of the cool air on her posterior, the smell of the leather in his hand, and the flaming touch of his belt as it landed with a resounding smack against her naked skin. She shivered at the thought, and wondered as her mind played with the idea, how much she seemed to want it. This peculiar desire inside her loins was not going away, no matter how hard she might try to shove it aside. The way her body was churning, she had little doubt that at least part of her wanted Jake to haul her off to his barn that very instant, and spank her as he’d threatened. Yet, there was nothing she could do but wait for him to make that decision. “I remember your threat very well, “she stated. “Then, we’ll see if you can behave,” he reasoned, a delicious glint in his eye. He loved to tease her. And the truth be known? She loved the teasing too. That afternoon of reconciliation over, Jake became a sturdy fixture in her life. The result, Rebecca Rivers was practicing a little humility. She was a little more giving with her customers, a bit more cheerful when she met the townspeople on the street, and there was an unfamiliar girlish twinkle in her dark brown eyes. Everyone knew it had to be Jake Elder putting that twinkle there, though they’d never know exactly why. They’d never know the secret thoughts she harbored; and they’d never suspect what was behind that quick flashing glare Jake sent her way when she was about to step over the line again. He threatened often, but as long as she appeared to try her best, his look was all he needed to conquer her headstrong manners. There was a month or two of bliss, of Rebecca’s near perfect deportment, with only an occasional slap on her rear when she became a bit to shrill or crabby. But Jake’s leaving for three days became her undoing. A slip up in her books, a nasty visit from her banker, and an unexpected altercation with terrifying results brought back the spiteful, ill-tempered Rebecca, and a new chapter in her surrender. When Jake returned from his brief trip, with a beaming smile and a handful of wildflowers, it became clear to him that something was wrong. “How are you doing, my sweet?” he said, pecking her on the cheek. “I’m fine,” she said, snapping at him as she waited on a customer. It was hardly the welcome he expected. Jake’s return startled her, she hadn’t expected him until evening. He watched her carefully as she moved about the mercantile, seeing she was agitated and uneasy. “What’s the matter?” he asked, when they were finally alone. “The matter? Nothing,” she answered. “I don’t believe you.” “Well you should,” she said. “Everything here is perfectly fine. I’ll cook you dinner tonight, how would that be?” “I’d like that, Becca, but after you tell me what’s bothering you.” “Really, Jake, there’s nothing,” she protested. “No lies,” he warned. “No lies.” She was lying, but she smiled warmly, doing her damnedest to be sweet and coy and nonchalant. He couldn’t find out what had happened, no way, he’d be furious beyond belief. At least for the moment Jake believed her At dinner that night, Jake was himself again, all suspicions seemed to have vanished. “Let’s take a walk, it’s a lovely evening,” he suggested when they were finished, and he pulled her abruptly to her feet, grabbing her about the arms. “Ouch!” she cried. “What’s that?” “Nothing, you just squeezed me too tightly.” He tugged at the arm of her dress and raising the sleeve above the elbow, he found the wound. “What’s this?” he asked, instantly suspicious. “What you were afraid to tell me earlier?” She pursed her lips. “Tell me everything, Rebecca, don’t leave anything out.” “It’s not really important,” she started, but there was a sudden surge of emotion welling out of control inside her. Without planning it, she began to cry as all the hours of worry, and the horror of the event suppressed inside, came pouring out in one uncharacteristic wail. “I had an accident,” she said. “What!” “I fell from my horse.” “When? Where? And you’d better tell me the truth,” he said calmly. She looked at him wondering what she should say. She could lie and hope she wouldn’t get caught, but the other side of her prevailed, knowing how perceptive Jake was. He was likely to discover her fabrication and it would be worse. “I was riding to Sacramento, the horse got spooked, I fell, and this bruise.” She referred to her wound. It was more than a bruise, there was a nasty cut underneath the bandage. “You were going to Sacramento? Without me? I thought I’d made this clear?” “I know.” “And you weren’t going to tell me?” He was furious. She looked at him sheepishly and bit her lip. “You thought you could keep this from me?” “I had things that couldn’t wait, I had to go.” His eyes flared nastily. She was sure she’d never seen him so furious. “I’m sorry,” she said meekly. “You weren’t going to tell me, were you?” “I was, I really was,” she tried to convince him. “No, Rebecca, I know you better than that. You were going to hope I didn’t find out. Well I have.” He looked her squarely in the eye. Rebecca waited knowing what would happen, wishing that he’d just get started. “I’m going home,” he announced to her surprise as he backed away. “And you’ll be coming to my house tomorrow morning.” “Tomorrow?” “Tomorrow at eight. You can stew in your juices all night, my dear, thinking about my razor strap falling against your naked rear, and the way it’s going to burn before I’m finished.” She was too shocked to say a word as she watched him leave. His expression was one of finality. This was going to be worse than ever, and so different from the other times when he’d whipped her on the spot. This time she could refuse. Of course, that would undoubtedly end their relationship. Jake had left he decision in her hands, surrender to him would clearly be her choice. The morning glittered brightly, brisk but clear. The sun shone down on Rebecca’s back as she rode, britches on, to her old house, and Jake, and whatever was waiting for her there. She had spent most of the night thinking about what was to come. By morning, she decided that she had only one choice, submit. It was time to have someone special in her life, someone that wanted to care about her. And who but Jake Elder could match her strength and will? If surrendering to Jake’s wishes for her was what it took to continue their relationship, then surrender to Jake was what she’d do. She pulled up her horse by the house, and dismounted. Jake was already on the porch, looking relieved to see her there. “In the barn,” he ordered without so much as a friendly hello. Her eyes grew wide, but she didn’t protest. Certainly his more gentle side was gone, the soft eyes, the warm arms, the sure caring that she loved so well. “I do deserve this”, she kept saying to herself. The little lies, the lack of trust, trying to hide things from him. She prepared herself as best she could. “By the way, I found this old razor strap in the barn. Perhaps your rear end has felt it before?” “No, never,” she replied. That was the truth, never had her parents laid one finger on her. “That’s too bad. Perhaps if your father had been more strict, we wouldn’t be having these problems right now.” As she looked at the strap her whole body tingled. She recognized it as her father’s, the surface smooth with age and oil. Two inches wide, it was a menacing looking implement. Her body shuddered in anticipation, how much longer would he make her wait? She was so confused inside with fear and wild desire she couldn’t think. “By the bench,” he instructed. Rebecca trembled, but obeyed, moving to the old work bench. “Turn around,” he said. She did. She couldn’t believe how much she was shaking. “Now, lower your britches,” he said. She hesitated, but found the buttons before he spoke again, and pushed her pants down to her knees. “Your underwear,” he added. Those too came down, and the cool morning air inside the barn gave her goosebumps where her naked skin was firm and ready for the strap. The act was not only embarrassing but arousing as well. She turned back to him with a whimpering look. “Maybe you thought I wouldn’t live up to my word?” he suggested. “No, I know how serious you are. It’s just… I know how much it’s going to hurt.” She bit her lip. “No, Rebecca, you don’t know that at all, how much it’s going to hurt. Expect the worst, after all your misbehaving ass is bare as a baby’s today. Turn around and bend over, if you insist on acting like a foolish child, traipsing all over the countryside by yourself, behaving like a little brat, well then, I’ll punish you like one.” He moved forward to the bench, to her half-bent, naked rear, and pushed her down firmly so her chest rested on the wood. “Grab the other side of the table, I don’t want your hands getting in my way.” She obeyed. Helpless, humbled, all defenses gone. She was shivering madly from head to toe. “Two dozen,” she heard Jake say, just as his arm quickly swung back, the strap raring in his hand. She could see it from the corner of her eye, as it made a cruel swish through the air, and came down firmly on her creamy skin. “Yeow!” she cried, though she realized that the stroke was not as hard as she thought it would be. He laid a second crack across the first. Again, without the bite that could have been. “Three.” He was counting to himself. The strap came down zealously, though not so hard she couldn’t stand it. Eight, Nine, Ten. The intensity increased. “Oh gawd! It hurts!” she cried at last, as the pain began to take effect. Thwack! The belt sizzled on the thirteenth stroke. “Oh, gawd, pleaseeee,” she gasped, as his hand went back for the next. Thwack! Thwack! The sizzle, the cruel thwack, the sudden jolt, the next dozen were much harder than the first. With each she was reminded of Jake’s command over her, and his unrelenting aim to tame her into the gentle woman she could be. “Oh, gawd!” she gasped. The last one landed with a strong bite and she let go with a flood of tears from her eyes. Finally, he pulled her up. “You feel it burn?” he asked. “Oh, my god yes,” she gasped. “Good, it should!” he said tersely, as she watched him hang the strap on one of the posts, should he need it again. He looked at her calmly. “Perhaps you’d better raise your drawers,” he suggested. She’d almost forgot herself, and quickly pulled her drawers back around her waist, as he face blushed as red as her red ass. “You’ve learned your lesson?” he asked. “Yes.” She felt as meek as a kitten. This time that curious sense of peace pervaded her whole body; and this time she didn’t push it aside with anger. “I’m glad,” Jake said, satisfied. She looked into his eyes and he looked back at her tenderly. “I didn’t like doing that, Becca,” he admitted. She actually believed him. “This is not going to end, you know,” she asserted, “I mean I’m always going to do something to anger you, I can’t help it Jake.” There were still tears trickling down her cheek. “Well, then, you know what you’ll get,” he replied, brushing those tears aside with his gentle hand. “It’s just the way I am, Jake,” she exclaimed. “I know,” he said, “and I like the way you are.” His arms surrounded her and she melted into him. He kissed her, not gently as he’d kissed her before, but vigorously, a rushing wave of desire passing through them both. His hands roved about her body caressing her thighs and her tender bottom, and even her generous breasts. She responded, moving with eager reply. Jake would have liked to have removed those britches once again—for other reasons—but he overcame the desire of the moment, and backed away. Not yet, he thought, they still had a ways to go. Putting his arm around her waist they left the barn.
