IX chapter

ON THE SAME EVENING

AT THIRD PERSON'S POW:

After dinner, Adam went back to his room and sat down on his bed. Adam took an almost new Samsung phone out of his pocket and texted Caroline.

„Hi, Caroline. It's me, Adam. I wanted to know how you are.“

After writing down the message, he sat down on his bed and started waiting for an answer. It took some time for Caroline to answer.

„Hi, Adam. I am alright, but my mom does not like our talking. I hope that you don't mind if we talk more by message.“

Adam read a message and sighed. He already knew about it. 

„I know, and I understand. My dad feels the same. I think that they are doing this because they do not want to see us together.“

Adam smiled and sent a message back to Caroline. It took about ten mins for him to get an answer.

„I think that our parents wish to separate us. It is going to be hard for them since we love each other.“

Adam smiled and wrote an answer to Caroline.

Days in school went calmly. Most of the students were spending their time studying and getting ready for exams, and Adam with Caroline was no different. Adam and Caroline kept contacting them with text messages. It was the easiest way for them to communicate with each other. Time kept going fast and there was soon only one hundred days left before the exams. It was a small celebration where all of the students could attend and spend time together.

AT THE SAME TIME

AT ADAM'S POW:

I was walking after some classes and saw Caroline's classmates talking. I wrote her a message yesterday and I still haven't got an answer until today.

„I heard that dance was coming and I was hoping that you want come with me. Would you like that idea?“. 

I sent her that message and I was surprised about not getting an answer to that question. I was surprised that she did not respond to me and I was unable to talk with her since it was a Friday. I knew that today I was going to be able to talk with her and I hadn't seen her all day at school. I decided to talk with Caroline's classmates since it was only the idea of getting some information about her. 

-I heard that our dance is coming son.-Mia said.

-I agree. Did you got invited?-Violet asked.

-I was invited by Rick.-Rose said.

-It sounds like a sweet boy. I didn't think that he would invite you.-Violet said.

-Who invited you?-Mia asked.

-It was Rock.-Violet said and smiled.

-I think that he likes you.-Ana said.

-I was invited by Nick, and I heard that Kim was planning to invite you.-Rose said.

-It sounds nice.-Ana said.

I was looking at them and then I decided to get closer to them since I needed to get some information about Caroline. 

-Hi, girls. Have you seen Caroline?-I asked.

-I haven't.-Ana said.

-The same here.-Mia said and sighed.

-I can say the same thing.-Another girl said and all of the girls walked off fast. 

They are acting quite weird for some reason. I had better go back home and try to text her again.

I sat down on the bed and sent Caroline a few more times, but I haven't got an answer. It lasted for me a few days until I finally met my brother again.

I was walking down the street and saw Dominic walking towards me. I hadn't noticed him until I accidentally bumped into him.

-I am sorry. Dom?-I said.

-Hi, brother.-Dom said. -What is wrong?

-I am worried about Caroline. I haven't seen her for a few days.-I said.

-If you mean the girl that I met on the holidays, I met her.-Dom said.

-What? Where?-I said.

-Calm down, we could talk about it at a cafe.-Dom said.

-Let's go there then.-I said.

-Okay, okay.-Dom said, and I followed him.

When we walked inside the cafe, I sat down and Dom ordered a drink for both of us.

AT THE SAME TIME

AT THIRD PERSON'S POW:

When they entered the cafe, they sat down at a remote table and started their conversation by ordering a glass of ice with ice.

-Well, where and when did you see her?-Adam asked.

- I saw her and her parents last Saturday. She and her parents met some young man and went home after talking to him, but her parents were very pleased. After a while, they left the house and left.-Dom said.

-And who was that young man?-Adam asked.

- I do not know him and it seems to me that he does not belong to this subgroup.-Dom said.

-Was that young man here to handle things?-Adam asked.

- I don't think so. His eyes were full of admiration as he looked at his girlfriend.-Dom said.

- Does he like it? So what she told me before was true.-Adam said in an angry voice.

-My brother is finally starting to feel jealous.- Dom said, frowning at him. And what did she tell you before? -Dom asked.

-She told me that her mother didn't like her, that she was communicating with me, and that her mother would find a way to separate the two of us.-Adam said with a calm tone.

-Probably that conversation was part of the plan.- Dom said with disgust. - And his parents were probably unhappy because your girlfriend refused to forget you. And forgive me for trying to help you, I opened old wounds.

-And how much did you collect during the try-out exam?-Adam asked, trying to change the subject of the conversation.

-80. And you?-Domantas asked him.

- 85. As you can see, your younger brother is smarter than you — saying that Adam tries to gently slap his brother over the shoulder, but he pushes his hand away, grumbling:

- We will see how you will succeed in a proper exam.

-Let's see it in a future.-Adam said..

After that, the two brothers happily started discussing how to each do and what they would do next. One topic of conversation, however, saddened Dom.

- I hadn't gone home. After all, a father no longer considers me his son. Nothing like that. If you make the same mistake, I'll help you.-Dom said.

- All right. It’s until next time and don’t grieve over that dad’s stupid deed, one day he’ll realize he made a mistake.-Adam said.

- By Adam.. You have my phone in case something happens, write or call.-Dom said.

After that, Adam went home and was quite happy to meet his brother, but he still had the question: Where is Caroline?
