Chapter 11I made sure the straps, which held the dagger in place, were snapped down before I left Tom's Tavern. As an extra precaution, I took two of the leather thongs from the fringe on the side of the scabbard, and wound it around the hilt and tied it. I reminded myself the dagger didn't kill vampires; it stabbed them in the heart, stunning them. Since the dagger was pure silver, it would probably burn so badly they'd want to be put out of their misery. Immobilized this way, someone could cut the vampire's head off.
