Chapter 8 I headed downstairs, the girls promising to follow me in a short while. As I passed the kitchen, Webb hurried by with a tray of highball glasses and unidentifiable hors d'oeuvres. “Where is everyone?” I asked. He tipped his head towards the parlor. “The ladies are settled in there, while the senator, Mr. Huntington, and Mr. Graham are in the study.” He turned away with a distracted air. “Excuse me, miss.” I couldn’t help but sympathize.
