EPILOGUE

240 Words
Toronto Ontario, 100 years later…   The tourist snapped pictures on their phones as they followed the tour guide through the Kingston Spirits Distillery, one of the oldest liquor manufactories in the province. The guide was telling them all about how Kingston Spirits came to be. Alice stood in line with the others listening to the stories about the young family that flooded the streets with booze as bootleggers during prohibition. “It is said that the Kingston boys were the most wanted criminals, cleaver and unstoppable. They flouted the law at every chance. Finally, the tour guide pointed to an old vintage picture of the original founders of Kingston Spirits. Alice moved closer to get a good look at it. Unfortunately, the picture had been blown up for easier viewing large groups. It was four men dressed in fine suits and fedoras, standing in front of a smuggling truck with Tommy guns on their shoulders and cigars. Off to the side with the older man, a woman who the plaque beneath identified as Tempest Kingston, the matriarch of the Kingston family. On the other side, next to one of the younger men was a woman holding a young—the plaque dated the picture shortly after prohibition had been revoked. “They sure look like they had some stories to tell,” Alice said to the old woman standing next to them. “The bad boys always do.”
