Chapter 4 Four

1574 Words
The drive to the Academy was two hours long, and by the time Sara got there, it was night time. The guards left her in the hands of the school matron, who led her to her dorm building. “This is your room,” the matron said, stopping in front of a door with the number 301 on it. She shoved a key into Sara’s hand. “It was the last remaining spot, so don’t come after me asking for a switch.” Sara nodded and took the key. After the matron left, Sara tried the door handle and found that the door was not locked. Taking a deep breath, she opened the door and walked inside. There was a short hallway leading into the main room, with a small kitchen located on the left side. The matron had informed her that her dorm had four rooms, which means she had four roommates. She was happy that everyone had their own rooms. If she happened to have problematic roommates, it would be easy to avoid them. When she emerged from the short hallway into the living room, she came to a halt, the scene in front of her taking her by surprise. On a sofa across the room lay a naked man, and with him, a naked woman. Why were they lounging naked in the living room when everyone had their own room? The man looked up and saw her, and a smirk crossed his face as he openly leered at her. “Hello, sweets. Lost?” The woman next to him glared at her, and then at the man. She shoved the guy in his side. “Shut up, Kai.” The guy paid no attention to his partner and sat up straighter, spreading his arms across the back of the sofa. His naked body was now in more display than before, and Sara made an effort to keep her eyes in safe territory. “Need help, sweetheart?” “No, thanks,” Sara bit, looking around the room. The sooner she found her room, the better. One of her roommates happened to like hanging around naked with her boyfriend in the living room. Just great. Did the others condone this sort of behaviour? “Which room is not taken?” she asked, turning her attention to the woman. The woman rolled her eyes and crossed her arms across her chest. “You have a female roommate?” she asked, directing her question to the man. What? Sara looked back to the man. Roommate? He was her roommate? “Looks like you need my help after all,” he said, rising to his feet and walking towards her. Sara instinctively took a step back and shot him a warning look. She could see the way he was looking at her, and she didn’t like it. “Don’t come near me,” she told him. “Oh? What are you gonna do about it?” he asked, not stopping his approach. “You are the one who wandered into my dorm room. Maybe I should teach you a lesson.” His eyes narrowed as he made the threat, and Sara sensed that he wasn’t joking. So, not only was she sharing a dorm with a guy, but a bully at that. “I was assigned to this dorm,” she told him. “Just show me the empty room and I’ll leave you alone.” “Who the hell are you? Why are you assigned to this dorm?” “I’m not the matron, how would I know?” she shot back. She now understood why the matron had told her not to go asking for a switch. If she hadn’t been warned already, she would be on her way to the Halls office to ask for a new room. Kai looked displeased with her reply, and he stalked towards her, his eyes flashing with anger. “Do you have any idea who you are talking to?” As he got closer to her, Sara felt overwhelmed by his presence. He had to be at least six feet, which made him tower over her five feet two figure. The angry vibe he was suddenly exuding made her feel even more in danger. When he stepped too close, Sara had to take a step back to create some distance between them. He didn’t stop his approach, and she ended up with her back pressed against the wall behind her. She swallowed as fear crawled into her belly. If he attacked her, would she be able to defend against him? “Look at me when I talk to you,” he demanded, lifting his hand to grasp her chin in his fingers. He then jerked upwards, forcing her to face him. Sara looked straight into his eyes, determined not to cower. If this guy was really her roommate, she wasn’t going to let him think he could boss her around and harass her whenever he wanted. Maybe a knee to his groin would teach him to stay away from her. Before she could launch her attack, he brushed his thumb over her lower lip. The move caught her off guard, but she recovered a second later and slapped his hand away. “Don’t touch me!” “I’ll do whatever I want,” he claimed, lowering his head until his lips were inches away from her ear, “and you’re going to like it.” Sara gulped as her heart beat wildly in her chest. He really was not going to leave her alone, was he? He pulled back and met her eyes again. “We are going to have a lot of fun, me and you,” he told her. “Keep dreaming,” she told him defiantly. His eyes flashed with fresh anger, and he punched the wall beside her head. Her entire body trembled, and she started wondering whether challenging him was a good idea. He glared at her, his jaw ticking, his body heat seeming to wrap around her and suffocate her. She could tell he was a powerful werewolf. His aura was too strong…was he an Alpha? With her rotten luck, it wouldn’t be a surprise if she happened to be stuck with an arrogant Alpha like him. A sudden gunshot rang through the air, interrupting the silence in the room. It took Sara several seconds to realise the shot had come from inside the room. Stunned, she ducked below Kai’s arm to see what was going on. She blinked when she saw another naked man, with a gun in his hand. This one was sitting on the sofa opposite the one Kai had been occupying. The sofa was facing away from the hallway, so when Sara walked in, she hadn’t noticed him. Looking at him, she couldn’t help but notice how handsome he was. Sara frowned as she wondered whether he too was her roommate. “Can I get some quiet around here?” the man demanded, directing his gaze towards Kai. “Alright, princess, no need to go around shooting s**t,” Kai said, rolling his eyes dramatically. The man’s eyes wandered to Sara, and they had eye contact for a few seconds. Sara tensed as she waited for him to make a comment about her presence. But he only looked at her blankly for a few seconds before laying back onto the sofa, disappearing from her line of sight. Even if he hadn’t said anything to her, the cold tone of his voice and the indifferent look he had given Sara told her he wasn’t one to mess with. “You’re lucky,” Kai grunted and then walked back to the sofa where his lover was still waiting. Relieved that he had left her alone, Sara tried the nearest room door. To her pleasant surprise, it happened to be empty, and she brought her suitcase inside and locked the door. She leaned against the closed door for a few seconds and took a deep breath. Her stay at North Academy was already off to a rocky start. How much worse was it going to get? Sighing, she got busy unpacking her stuff and making her bed. She was almost done when a loud scream from outside permeated the air. Quickly, she switched off her lights and sat at the bottom of her bed, hugging herself tight. She had long heard tales of the school’s punishers. If a werewolf was unruly, the punishers killed them. The scream she heard was full of pain, and she could only imagine what was going on outside. She was determined to keep a low profile and not do anything that would draw the punishers’ attention to herself. As the night went quiet again, she rose from her bed and went to the door. Pressing her ear to the wood, she listened for any movement outside. Forget the punishers, she had to think of a way to survive her roommates. What if they broke into her room at night? Especially that Kai guy, who already had a bone to pick with her. She ended up sitting on the floor, with her back against the door. She was tired and badly wanted to go to sleep, but didn’t want to risk her roommates bursting into her room. At the moment, her focus was to get through her first night at the school in one piece.
