The entire room was dead silent. My laughter resounded through the room, sundering the suffocating atmosphere, heard by everyone. Kai's head jerked back to stare at me with such force I reckon he must have broken a bone or two. Anger and viciousness flashed through his eyes; a ghastly look appeared on his face. He had a grim aura. But it appeared like a lightbulb went on in his head, since he lazily leaned back in his chair and made a gesture toward me the next minute. "Mr. Taylor and I reached an agreement," he loftily said with a cocky grin. "He'll be splitting the bill with me today. He'll also be the first to pay. Once he pays his half, I'll pay right away." Everyone's gaze zeroed on me as his comments echoed across the room. Kai's group jumped right in. "Yes, yes, yes, Mr. Taylor
