Forrest spoke without pause, but Violet simply ignored him and scanned the crowd. She was looking for someone. The crowd began to get noisy. “Did you hear Mr. Smith's last words? The Taylor Group!” “That’s why... that’s why Mr. Smith was so respectful. It all makes sense. It’s the Taylor Group after all.” The crowd had been enlightened. Of course, there were still some people that did not quite understand the situation. But, upon hearing all the comments being thrown around, those people also began to catch on. Their confusion changed to disbelief and shock. Seeing the dramatic reaction of the crowd, I was speechless. Although I knew the Taylor Group was rich and powerful, it was all on the level of hearsay. Until today, I lacked a proper sense of the magnitude of the company. Today, their reactions made me realize just how massive and influential the company was. And, this was just an assistant... Was I, in fact, Taylor Group’s president's son? My body began to grow hot. My palms were sweaty and I could hear my ears ringing. I was getting anxious. At the club’s entrance, Violet, not addressing Forrest, continued to scan the crowd. She did not see me. I got up on my feet intending to walk toward her; But lo and behold, Johnny, our dear manwhore, blocked me. “Stop right there. Who the f**k told you to walk over there?” “I personally don’t give a f**k where you go.” Johnny revealed a devilish smile. “But Mr. Smith wanted the club to be cleared out. So what makes you walk toward the club entrance? You’re only going to annoy her and anger Mr. Smith.” Dawn frantically nodded in response to Johnny's comments. “Yeah, even Johnny has to show respect," she remarked, her face filled with ridicule. "Why is trash like you trying to go over there? Do you have a f*****g death wish? You’re going to get us all killed!” “You’re a stupid loser. Just stay at home and fap. You’re an embarrassment to humanity.” “...” “How did I fall for such an i***t?” I thought bitterly. From the moment I stepped into that room to until now, my anger and grief had built up considerably. I was afraid that I would lose control and cause a scene. But a part of me whispered of the sweetness of revenge; taking subtle deep breaths, I willed myself to calm down. They preached of the wonders of wealth, and the lengths it could take you. Now, I would show them what money can really achieve. “She’s looking for me," I said, my voice cold. Several people in front of me froze. “What did you just say?” Johnny pointed at me, laughing. “That woman from the Taylor Group is here to see you? Give me a break! Hahaha, at least make up a reasonable lie. You’re killing me here!” Dawn looked at me in disgust. “Gael, how could you tell such lies? I originally thought you were just a broke ass. But you proved me wrong. You’re a broke-ass brain-damaged liar. No, you’re the epitome of a loser. You make me want to vomit.” “Did my bodyguards hit him too hard?” Johnny strutted in front of me, pulling a bundle of cash from his pocket, he flung it on my face. “This is my present to you. Go to the hospital and see if they can fix up your brain. At the very least, be an honest loser in the future. I have faith in you. Don’t frighten people saying nonsense like that.” Dawn burst into laughter, seeing this scene, and she was not the only one either, people around us also joined in. “What a loser! You think too highly of yourself. You aren’t worthy of her!” “It’s just another broke ass lunatic crazy about money.” “You’re brain-damaged, right?” “We need to watch him. If he actually rushes to the club’s entrance and offends those bigshots, we’ll be implicated.” Comments full of contempt and disdain traveled through my ears. My heart grew chilly. But the commotion successfully drew the attention of Violet. She looked in the direction of the noise. Her eyes lit up minutely and she headed my way. The eight bodyguards in black suits followed behind her. Slightly dazed, Forrest followed. The people in the chaotic crowd were shocked. An imposing aura stifled them. “s**t, why is she coming this way?” “I don’t know! Were we too loud? Did we upset her?” “Shut up, shut the f**k up.” Seeing Violet coming in my direction, the people that had laughed at me grew silent. Fear built up in them as they saw her close in. Click. Click. Click. The sound of her high heels hitting the floor was crisp. As she walked through, the crowd went dead silent, and like obedient sheep, they made way for her. Unfazed, Violet continued moving forward. Her striking aura caused the crowd to part like the red sea. Johnny’s eyes widened, seeing Violet get closer and closer. At last, Violet stood in front of me. I gave a small smile and opened my mouth to speak, but Johnny beat me to it. “Miss, I’m Johnny Miller. How may I help you?” His face was flushed, his body trembling. He tried to act like a gentleman. Violet frowned slightly and coldly spat out two words. “f**k off.” “Ah.” Johnny was clearly stunned. He saw Violet’s icy glare and subconsciously took a step back. She really was a stunning beauty. I observed Violet. Violet stared at me and revealed a soft smile. Her voice was respectful. “Mr. Taylor, I’m not late, right?” The smile was like a flower blooming on ice. It was soul-shakingly mesmerizing. I nodded my head slightly. “How’s that possible?!” cried Johnny. His face filled with horror, and his eyes bulged as if he had seen a ghost. His face turned deathly pale in an instant. His legs buckled, and his body trembled. He began to murmur soullessly, “How’s that possible? Was she really looking for him? How’s that possible...” Next to him, Dawn was no better. As if her whole body was struck by lightning, Dawn stared at me in disbelief. Her body stiffened. She opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. Violet ignored them and took a step forward. A light fragrance touched my face. She took out a white handkerchief and gently brushed my cheeks. Everyone was stunned by the turn of events. No one had anticipated this. No one could have predicted that this beautiful, picturesque woman would come to see me. In their eyes, our relationship looked intimate. For a brief moment, I watched Forrest’s face flash with surprise before settling into a more solemn expression. He had clearly just attached a great importance to me. Johnny was still in disbelief, his gaze full of jealousy. Dawn covered her mouth and stared blankly at me. The distance between me and Violet could be measured in centimeters. I could clearly see her delicate ears and neck. Her scent tickled my nose as she breathed into my ear. “Sir, for your safety, I can only address you as Mr. Taylor in public," she said quietly. "Now, were those two," her eyes signaled at Johnny and Dawn, "the people responsible?” Violet should have seen photos of Dawn. To confirm my identity, they probably investigated my relationships and life. Dawn, my girlfriend, would naturally be part of their investigation. Seeing Dawn in Johnny’s arms, her eyes turned frosty. She had put two and two together. I did not have to say a word before she deduced that they were the people who caused “the greatest humiliation of my life.” I nodded. “Understood, please leave this to me.” Violet wiped the blood on my face and stepped back. The light fragrance began to fade. Disappointment struck my heart. Violet glanced at the blood-stained handkerchief and looked at the wound on my forehead. The atmosphere became frigid as her aura grew chilly. She stared at Johnny and Dawn, expressionlessly. “Life is short. Bear with it. It’ll be over quickly.” Johnny and Dawn’s faces fell. They could feel the frost in her words, even though they did not yet understand what she meant. Johnny squeezed out an unpleasant smile. Stammering, he said, “Miss, is there... some sort of misunderstanding?” “No.” Violet coldly said, “Any offenses made against Mr. Tayor will not be tolerated.”
