Chapter 5: The Drunk Mistake

Reeve Lowel's Point of View

I lay down on my bed because of the extreme tiredness I felt. I was beyond exhausted. I just walked from the restaurant to the company. I walked for almost one hour in the middle of the heat! I don't want to see that freaking Nikos guy again.

When I arrived at the company, the manager of the HR department immediately approached me and said that it was my day off today. I was like, okay ... that is so weird. I thought that my manager would scold me but she gave me a day off. Wonderful! I went home to rest. Unable to feel my feet, I suddenly lay down on my bed. This is day is so tiring.

I tried focusing on my self first. I took bath and changed into nice clothes. Nilinis ko na rin ang buong kwarto ko na hindi ko man lang nagawa sa loob ng isang buwan. I even cleaned the kitchen area as well as the living room. The condo is good for two people yet it doesn't look crowded. At six in the afternoon, I heard someone opened the door. Colleen is already here. I felt someone walks straight to the kitchen.

"Oh my god!" Colleen exclaimed when she saw me.

"Why are you so startled?" Tanong ko habang pinupunasan ang lamesa.

"Bakit nandito ka kaagad? I though your office work will end at eight in the evening." She get a glass of water and drink it. I saw her hand is shaking. Okay, what is her problem?

"Nandito ako dahil dito ako nakatira. It's my day off. I know it's weird but it is really my free day." I muttered. I wash the clothe that I used in wiping the dining table at sinabit ito agad upang matuyo.

I was about to leave the kitchen when Colleen pulled me.

"What is it? You are acting so weird right now."

"Wait! Can you do me a little favor?" I shrugged her away and continue walking straight to the living room. Pero bigla akong nabigla dahil sa nakita ko.

"There is a guy sitting in our sofa." I said to Colleen and walk to the kitchen again.

"That is what I'm trying to tell you." Colleen said in panic.

"Why is there a handsome guy sitting in the sofa!?" Ulit ko sa kanya.

"He is my co-employee..." she explained. Naghintay ako sa sasabihin niya.

"Are you saying that I should leave the house first so you can have an alone time with him?" Nginitian ko siya ng nakakaloko. I'm happy for her but I'm not willing to go out the house. They can use the sofa or her room but I won't be leaving.

"No! No... hindi 'yan ang tinutukoy ko. Bakit ba ang dumi ng nasa isip mo." She crossed her arms and looked at me.

"Then why did you bring him?" Inakbayan niya ako pinaharap sa lalaking nakaupo sa sofa.

"Aleph is my friend, okay? I am not involve in any s****l activities with him! Mama mia! C'mon and let me introduce him to you." Okay... but it's still unclear why Colleen invited her friend.

"Aleph, this is my friend that I've been telling you. Her name is Reeve." Literal na tinulak ako ni Colleen papuntang living room at pinakilala sa akin ang kanyang kaibigan. Come to think of it, I never really have friends here because I am always with Stevan.

He flashes a sweet smile at kitang kita mo ang kanyang dimples.

"I know my dimples are cute but I don't do girls." He smiled and extended his arms.

"Aleph." He said. I awkwardly touched his hands and shake it.

"Sorry, I thought you and Colleen are together. By the way my name is Reeve." Tumingin ako nang para bang nagtatanong kay Colleen. He's gay? Para bang nabasa ni Colleen ang nasa isip ko kaya naman itong tumango.

"So my dear friend, you look like you are not yourself these past few weeks kaya naman we are here to help you." Pinaupo ako ni Colleen habang hinahawakan ang magkabilang braso ko. She gave me a meaningful look.

"No, no, no. I don't like what you are thinking." Aalis na sana ako nang hawakan naman ako ni Aleph sa kabilang kamay.

"I know your story Reeve, Colleen told me." Aleph is a hunk and he's handsome wearing a simple clothes. Sa unang tingin mo ay iisipin mong lalaki siya kahit sa tono ng kanyang pananalita but he's gay. I have nothing against gay people.

"Your ex-boyfriend cheated with your another friend. And you are now living miserably. So Colleen and I decided to bring you somewhere nice." Naipikit ko ang mata ko.

"But tomorrow is Tuesday! Diba dapat Friday ng gabi ginagawa ito?" I don't really like what's going on inside their head.

"Wala sa araw 'yun, okay? We are going to party like crazy tonight and forget all your sorrow. You can't say no to us, Reevie baby. It's one versus two. Aleph, put her inside and make her change her clothes." This day is not going to be the best day of my life.

"I told you Colleen! Hindi bagay sa akin ang pumunta sa ganitong mga lugar. You know me, I'll just bore you to death." We used Aleph's car going to the club. They made me wore a fitted dress.

"This night is going to be lit." They said in unison. Wala na akong magawa kundi sumabay na lang sa kanilang dalawa. Nakasimangot akong pumasok sa club. I don't really like going into parties.

"Ano ka ba girl, we brought you here so you can relax. Kesa naman magmukmok ka lang sa loob ng kwarto mo." Aleph said. The place is huge and loud. Even if it's Monday. The place is crowded with people who's having a good time. We proceeded to the counter to make an order.

"Is there any menu here or something?" Tanong ko nang makaupo kami sa high stool. I frowned when Colleen and Aleph laughed.

"What are you? Ordering at Macdonald's? Usually, there is no menu here, you will place your order and the bartender already knows it." Colleen explained at me. Inikot ang paningin ko. There is a big circular place where you can order a drink. Sa loob nito ay may mga bartenders and there are lot of different shape of glasses inside.

"Are they offering juice? Orange juice perhaps?" Colleen smiled at the cute bartender. Hindi man lang niya narinig ang sinabi ko.

"One cocktail for our little friend here." She said at pointed at me. The cute bartender nod and make something in front of us.

"I don't want to drink!" Aleph tap my shoulders.

"Don't worry Reeve. Just think about today. Bakit hindi mo subukan gawin ang akala mong hindi mo magagawa. For a change, maybe?" Napalunok ako. Okay... I'll try it. This is just once in a lifetime.

"I don't want you to leave me here, okay?" Colleen and Aleph nodded their head telling me that they are not going anywhere. The bartender gave me the order as Colleen ordered two dry martinis.

I tried to taste the cocktail, in fairness, wala ang pait. It's like I'm just drinking tropicana juice.

"How was it?" Colleen asked. I gave her a two thumbs up.

"It's good. It's refreshing." I said. One glass is followed by another. But I can still know what I'm doing. Alam ko mababa lang ang tolerance ko sa alak pero sa iniinom ko ay hindi naman madaling nakakalasing. Alam ko pa rin ang nangyayari sa paligid ko.

"Gusto mo pa?" Tumango ako sa offer ni Colleen. She gave me another glass and the moment when I felt like the alcohol is kicking inside my system, I stopped drinking right away.

"I can't drink anymore." Sabi ko at naupo nang tahimik sa high stool. I'm still here hanggang sa simula hindi ako umaalis sa pwesto ko. We've been here for almost two hours now and I congratulate myself for being this far even though I'm drinking alcohol.

"Hey," tawag ko sa bartender na kumuha ng order ko kanina.

"Hey, look at me." I leaned closer.

"Yes, Ma'am? Is there something wrong?" Mahinahong tanong nito.

"May mali ba sa akin? Panget ba ako?" The bartender shook his head.

"Then why he cheated on me? Why did he left me? Why did he choose her instead of me? Bakit iniiwan na lang ako bigla ng mga taong mahal ko? Ganon na ba kadali iwan ang isang tulad ko?" Someone grabbed me from behind.

"Ohh, it's you Colleen." I said when I saw her.

"Sorry, she's drunk." Paumanhin na sinabi ni Colleen sa cute na bartender. Tumango ang bartender at ginawa na ulit niya ang trabaho niya.

"Hindi ako lasing." I muttered when I felt my head is throbbing.

"Yeah, and pigs can fly." My head is spinning pero alam kong hindi pa ako lasing. I can still drink many glasses of alcohol but I refused because I know I already reached my limit.

"Pahangin ka muna sa labas, sasamahan ka namin ni Aleph." I can't hear what Colleen is telling me. Kinapa ko ang buong katawan ko to check my phone.

"P-phone. Where's my p-phone? I know I put it h-here." I said and look for my phone.

"No need to bring me outside, Col. Magpapasundo na lang ako kay Stevan." I said and pulled my phone and started to browse my contacts. Colleen cupped my cheeks, ramdam ko naman na buhat ako ni Aleph palabas.

"Hey, listen to me. You and Stevan are no longer together." Para akong pinaliguan ng malamig na tubig sa narinig ko mula kay Colleen. Biglang bumalik ang lahat sa akin.

"Liar! Liar!" I cried.

"You told me earlier! Na kapag uminom ako ay makakalimutan ko siya? You are wrong! I still remember how he hurt me!" I started crying. Aleph is drying my tears while Col is caressing my back.

"I'm sorry." I cried. My head is spinning. Maybe I'm drunk, maybe I'm not. Nang makalabas kami ay pinaupo nila ako sa bench sa labas ng club. I whimpered and clenched my phone in my hand.

"S-stevan, Stevan..." I said while scrolling on my contacts.

"Reeve, stop it." I shrugged Colleen away when she tried getting my phone. Not a chance, ha ha!

"Let her be, Colleen." Aleph said. Hindi ko sila pinansin na dalawa, I dialed Stevan's number. Nakailang ring lang ito at agad may sumagot sa kabilang linya.

"Stevan? Why did you do it? Bakit hindi ako? Bakit hindi ako ang pinili mo?" I cried over the phone.

"Reeve? Are you drunk?" Rinig ko mula sa kabilang linya.

"Ang sakit nang iniwan mo ko Stevan. Hindi ko matanggap. Hindi ba pwedeng ako ang piliin mo? I gave everything to you, all my love, all my time! Pero bakit ito ang pinalit mo sa akin? Ang daya mo naman. Bumuo tayo ng pangarap, sabay tayong bumuo! Pero bakit sa iba mo tinutupad?" Naiiyak na sambit ko. I cried while sitting on the bench, my phone in my hand.

"Reeve?" Sambit niya sa pangalan ko. May namuong galit na naman sa puso ko.

"Yes! My name is Reeve. I am the f*****g ex girlfriend you cheated on and the fun fact about is you f**k my best friend! Ha! Did you ever think about me when you shoved your d**k to my friend's p***y. What the f**k ever." I shouted at the top of my lungs. Mukhang nagulat siya sa sinabi ko dahil alam niyang hindi ako nagmumura.

"Your d**k is small! You know what I gave up my virginity last night and his d**k is long and huge. He's so good in bed! And I like the feeling of having a d**k inside me! You heard that, you f*****g prick!? Buti na lang hindi ko sa'yo binigay dahil isa kang malaking itlog!" I shouted and I hope his ears will burst from my voice. I ended the call and smiled. Lumaki nang lumaki ang ngite ko sa labi at nakita ko na lang ang sarili kong tumatawa nang malakas.

"Wow, girl! You made me speechless." Aleph reacted. Hindi ko siya pinakinggan. I opened my phone again and dial Stevan's number.

"Stevan please, ako na lang. Ako na lang piliin mo." Kung kanino ay tumatawa ako ngayon naman ay umiiyak na naman ulit.

"Get her phone, Aleph! She's crazy. This is a bad idea. Dapat hindi ko na lang siya pinainom." Colleen commented at my side.

"Gimme b-back my phone! Gimme gimme!" I said when Aleph get my phone and ended the call.

"Hindi na siya babalik Reeve, okay?" Niyakap ko ang poste na katabi ng bench na inuupuan ko.

"He will. He loves me." Why does my head is so heavy?

"Shut the hell up, bitches. Napaka ingay niyo." May sumigaw na babae sa amin. Bigla akong napatayo dahil sa sigaw niyo.

"I smell trouble." Aleph said. Hinawakan niya ang magkabilang kamay namin ni Colleen at pinapwesto sa kanyang likuran.

"I'm sorry, my friend here is broken hearted. Pasensya na lang sa ingay namin." Aleph said using his kind voice. Nakatago kaming dalawa ni Colleen sa kanyang likuran. I don't really know what's happening right now. All I know is that my head is throbbing like crazy and I'm trying to see who shouted at us. There's a four girls who approached us. Tulad namin ay mukhang nakainom na rin ang mga ito.

"Move your f*****g gay ass, bastard. And let me teach that b***h a lesson." Gay ass? Did he just called Aleph a gay ass and a bastard?

I'm trying my best to open my eyes. Pumipikit na kasi ito. Nilalabanan ko lang ang antok ko.

"Umalis ka dito bakla, salot. Huwag mong itago 'yang maingay na babae na yan. Ilabas mo para hindi na makapagingay." Salot? Did he just called him salot?

"You homophobic son of a bitch." I shouted and pushed Aleph and Colleen away. Sinugod ko 'yung babaeng homophobic at ginawaran ng isang malakas na suntok sa mukha. This is war. I don't know what's happening right now. I can just feel someone is pulling my hair and everything went black.

Morning came and my head is killing me. Nagising lang ako mula sa ingay na nangagaling mula kay Colleen.

"Reeve, I know you are experiencing a hangover right now but don't freak out, okay?" Tiningnan ko lang siya at bumalik sa pagpikit ng aking mata.

"Go on." I said groggily. Ilang baso ba nainom ko at bakit ang sakit naman sa ulo?

"You need a lawyer. Someone just sued you."

Say, what!?
