Lyall's Story (Completed)

Lyall It’s been a few days since Lyna and Conall came home from their honeymoon and Lucy went back into town to check in on her bridal shop. I miss her a lot… she doesn’t know about me, what I am or the pack… and I guess she didn’t figure it out when she was here. No idea how I’m going to explain all this to her… she had been helping us with Lyna and Conall’s wedding for weeks and did an amazing job! She also looked so beautiful in her bridesmaid’s dress. Once the ceremony and reception were done, she didn’t stick around long. Because of the mate bond, it hurts having her away from me but I understand why she had to go back… soon it’ll be the alpha and luna ceremony for Conall and Lyna but we figured they’d want to relax before the ceremony. Lyna and I have a close relationship and we thought we were going to be mates, but it just wasn’t it for us. I’m happy for her she found her mate, and I know she’s happy for me I finally found mine. We had been good friends for many years and despite her struggles; she had these past few years I’m glad she had a happy ending. We had our usual casual morning meeting in her office just to see how things are going and what we need to do to keep up with everyday things around here. “Morning Lyna. Ready for the ceremony?” Lyna is currently alpha until she gives the title and responsibility to her mate, Conall. “Yeah, I think I am. I’ve been alpha for so long that it’ll probably be strange but I think Conall will make an excellent alpha.” She stares at her mate lovingly… must be nice to have a mate that understands you… “So, besides the ceremony, I think everything else is under control,” I ask her to change subjects. “Any word from Crescent pack?” They’re supposedly our sister pack, but lately, we’ve had a love/hate relationship with them. Their Luna, Griselda Ulrich is a prominent leader, but her second chance mate Sterling Skool… we’ve had a rocky start… a long story that I don’t really want to get into. “Haven’t heard anything from them, but I’m sure they’ll be at the ceremony. If not, I wouldn’t be offended. It’s more for us, anyway.” Yeah, I would not shed tears over them not coming anyway… “Any word from Lucy? I know she had to leave after the ceremony…” Thanks for twisting the knife Lyna… “No word… no call nor text from her since the ceremony. I’m getting worried about her, but I don’t want her to think I’m stalking her.” I let out a deep sigh... I miss her. “Yeah, human mates are complicated but unheard of. Do we even know anything about her past or family?” Lyna asks me with curiosity. “No… she didn’t really talk about personal life just what needed to be done.” “Yeah, she seemed like more of a ‘focus on what’s in front of us’ kind of lady. She’ll make a great beta female eventually…” Eventually… I was tired of hearing that… “Well, we know that she’s at the shop so that’s a good place to look. I can see if I can find any information on her with the resources we have.” “I suppose that’s a start. I miss her, Lyna… it hurts being away from her…” I lean on her shoulder and have my mope… “I know Lyall… and it makes me sad to see you like this. We will bring her home to us… I will try everything I can.” “I know you will, but until then we have an alpha ceremony to get ready for. We can invite her to that.” “How when she doesn’t know what we are…” I let out a deep sigh when I realize that… “Oh, yeah… that minor detail… well she can come to the after-party. That way she doesn’t ask us twenty questions.” “I suppose but it’s not the same.” “Yeah, you’re right… maybe you and I can go to her shop and ‘find me a new dress for it.’ This isn’t a full lie… but at least we can see her again. I don’t like to see you in pain…” “Thanks, Lyna… you’re going to be a great luna…” “If only mom and dad were here to see it…” Her parents had been murdered by a fellow alpha when she was sixteen… we eventually got the jerk, but it still doesn’t mean she isn’t hurting… “I’m sure they’d be proud of you. I know I am.” I gave her a reassuring smile, and she gave me one back. “Thanks, Lyall. Now how about we go into town and get a dress.” She looks at me with a mischievous smile and drags me to the jeep after telling Conall where we were going of course. Once we finally get into town, we find her store and her car parked out front. “Great, she’s in today! Come on!” She drags me out of the car and pulls me into the store. Immediately Lykos, my wolf goes crazy when we see her. “Yay, we finally see her again! Why does Lyna have to do all the work for you two to be together?!” It's like I could feel him jumping around and wagging his tail! “I don’t want it to look like we’re stalking her! In a human society that’s a bad thing!” “Details…” I roll my eyes at him and we pretend to look at the formal wear dresses when Lucy recognizes us. “Lyna! Lyall! So good to see you again! Back again for a dress? What’s the occasion?” “Just a formal party. I don’t normally go all out for formal occasions, so I figured we’d come back and let an expert help.” Oh, she’s good… I laugh to myself with this plan. She must’ve thought of this for a while. “Great, unlike my wedding dresses they aren’t in a super big hurry to get tailored. Any specific color you’re looking for?” “I’m not sure yet. I’ll see what you have. Lyall, why don’t you look around for some ideas for the guys.” She smirks at me and leaves Lucy and me to look around. “So, for the guys, are you thinking tux or suits?” I was distracted by her bright sky-blue eyes to notice her question. “Oh, uh… what would you recommend?” Whoops caught off guard. “Well, depending on how formal the party either this one will look nice on you. Is the party for you or someone else?” She blushes at me. She looks cute when she blushes. “It’s for Conall and Lyna. They’re celebrating being back from their honeymoon with us.” Sure, let’s go with that… not entirely wrong. “Oh, then that’s easy. I’d recommend a tux for Conall since he’s co-hosting with Lyna and a suit for you. Does anyone else need a suit?” “No, just me, so Lyna and I will probably come more often.” I smile at the thought of coming back to see her. “No problem.” I see her blush again and I can tell she wants to talk more personally but not in her shop. “Something on your mind?” Come on give me something I’m dying here! “I-I’ve missed you…” She turns beet red as she admits that to me. Finally! There is something there! “I’ve missed you too. Here you can have my number and we can keep in contact.” Yes! Brownie points for me! “Great, I’ll need to see you and Conall for a fitting, anyway. Wonder why he didn’t come with you?” “Uh… he had to talk to some of our neighbors.” Sure, let’s go with that… although talking with Luna Griselda and beta Sterling is not fun… “Aww too bad. Maybe next time. I better check on Lyna to see if she found anything.” She leaves me to go to the dresses. I get on my phone to text Conall. Me: Hey Conall, are you done with the meeting with Griselda and Sterling? Conall: Yeah, just finished. What’s up? Me: Can you come into town to Lucy’s shop? I’m dying here. I want to talk to her alone and she’s talking with Lyna. Conall: I suppose… you owe me for being your wingman. Me: Thanks alpha! See you soon. “Lyna just got off the phone with Conall he will be here soon so you two can talk about the party.” “Oh great, I probably should’ve brought him in the first place. Silly me.” I look around the guy’s section of her shop to get ideas but honestly with these things we know the ladies are the star of the show… after staring at dress shirts for ten minutes Conall finally shows up! “Hey, babe got done early?” She wraps her arms around his waist to hug him and while it’s sweet, it’s also nauseating. “Yeah, I did, and I figured I’d come along to help with the party.” “Hey Conall, good to see you again. Why don’t you and Lyall come with me and Lyna, you can keep looking around seeing what you like.” “Sure, lead the way. Let me know what you decide and we can coordinate.” We guys go to the guy’s section and I try on some suits while he tries on some tuxes. I admit we look good when we clean up. I come out first to show off my suit and I see Lyna in the back making her approval and Lucy blushing as she sees me in it. Guess she likes it. “So, ladies, what do you think?” I do a twirl for them kind of half-hearted and half showing off. “I like it on you, but a silver dress shirt and a forest green tie would look great with it,” Lyna says as she comes up to me. “I can see what we have.” Lucy goes into her supplies to see what she has and comes back with the dress shirt and tie Lyna requested. “I will be right back to show off,” I smirk at Lyna before turning back to my dressing room but I peek through the curtain door to see what’s going on. Conall comes out in his tux and Lyna seductively smiles at him making it known that she likes it. “Well, don’t you look handsome?” “I guess this is the look you want?” He kisses her cheek and I roll my eyes at them. So much for my wingman… “Yes, but try on the same shirt and tie for me, please.” She bats her eyes at him and he laughs as she gets her way. I come back out with her request and I can see both ladies approving. “I think you look handsome, Lyall…” Lucy is beet red and smiling that I can’t help but walk over to her and kiss her hand. Smooth… “Thank you… maybe after my fitting, we can go out for dinner?” Please say yes, please say yes! “Sure… I’ll just let my parents know I won’t be visiting them tonight.” She goes off to get her phone to tell them about our date. “Yay Lyall! Finally, asked her on a date!” Lyna squeals and hugs me. “About time dude!” Conall smacks my back as he shows off his tux “Ooh, I like it definitely a keeper. I found the most beautiful forest green ball gown I want to show you guys.” Lyna scurries to find the dress she found, and I got to admit it is an exquisite forest green gown. “Wow, Lyna… you’d look beautiful. Go on, now it’s your turn to be the model now. We did our turn!” Conall nudges her towards the dressing rooms as she giggles with an agreement. When she comes out, we make her do a little spin as she did with us, and we give her some teasing catcalls. “You look beautiful my luna.” Conall kisses her and I roll my eyes. “I’m still here… third-wheeling it here…” “Not technically, but I love this gown it’d be perfect for the ceremony.” Lucy comes back from her phone call and she squeals with excitement for her. “Oh, Lyna you look beautiful! This gown has been here a while, and I was hoping someone would wear it!” “Then I’ll be happy to get it. We’ll take everything we tried on tonight. Just let us change and we’ll be all set.” All three of us change back into our street clothes and put our fancy clothes into garment bags. After we pay for everything, Lucy closes her shop up for the night and Lyna throws me the extra clothes I had brought with me for the date that I was optimistic about. “What’s with the bag?” “Well, I may have had other intentions than just buying a suit. Although I needed it, my actual intention was to see you and ask you on a date…” “You wanted to see me again?” I see her trying to hide a smile. “Yeah, I did. I’ve wanted to see you again since you left the wedding… come on let me change into something a little more date appropriate and we can be off.” She unlocks the doors for me to borrow her dressing room and I come back in a midnight blue sweater and slacks. “You clean up nice. Did you have somewhere in mind?” I see her try to hide a shy smile as I notice her checking me out. “Well, I’m not too familiar in town. Usually, I’d cook at home.” “We can do that. I’d like to see your house.” Yes! I could howl if I could! Lykos and I are doing a mental happy dance. “Thanks for leaving the extra car. I’ll see you back at home. Lucy is coming for dinner!” I mindlink Lyna telling her of my plans. “Go easy on her. Take it slow! No mating on a first date!” Aww man… of course, she’s not a werewolf, so I had to do this the old-fashioned way… “Fine…” I let out a deep sigh. I want to mate with her so badly! “Have fun you two…” I open the SUV door for her, and we make it back to the pack.
