Maia's POV
My heart feels like it wants to start pacing, because the sight of police at my house definitely doesn't mean anything good. But I'm trying my best not to overreact just yet, because I really don't know what's going on.
I stop slightly on the street where I just alighted my cab, and take a breath before walking forward towards the police line.
Okay, now my heart starts gaining a pace. I can't help but wreck my head, wondering what's happening, as I walk up all the way to the yellow line.
An officer suddenly approaches me from the inside, and stands in front of me before I can reach the line.
"Ma'am this area is off limits."
