Tim Gu watched as he scolded the girl for a long time, yet she didn’t even lift her eyelids, and his expression darkened immediately.
“Are you listening to me?”
Nancy Gu took off the earbud from her left ear and coldly glanced at Tim Gu.
“If you want to apologize, go ahead; I won’t entertain you.”
Tim Gu’s face turned green with anger upon hearing this.
Xena Gu noticed this and quickly put on a facade of good-hearted persuasion.
“Nancy, don’t talk to Dad like that; he’s doing it for your own good. Offending the Cai family is not beneficial for our family; you should go apologize.”
“Listen to how Xena puts it; she’s only thinking about how it affects our family. And look at you—causing trouble without remorse and acting as if others owe you something,” Tim Gu angrily accused.
The girl showed a hint of irritation in her eyes.
“I’ve been bullied by Yan Cai for months; have you ever considered my feelings?”

Nancy Gu sneered: “Since you never considered me, what right do I have to consider the Gu family? Letting Yan Cai go is already my concession; I’m not as soft-hearted as you all think. If you want to apologize to the Cai family, feel free; just don’t bother me!
”
The girl’s face displayed clear impatience, exuding an aura that warned others not to approach her.
Not wanting to waste more words with her family, she put her earbud back in, blocking out all external noise, and turned to leave the police station.
“This girl is really becoming more unreasonable,” Tim Gu sighed deeply, his brows tightly knitted together.
“If I had known she would be so stubborn, I shouldn’t have softened my heart and brought her back to Pingcheng.”
If it weren’t for successfully becoming a representative in the city council, he wouldn’t have wanted this girl around causing him trouble at all.
“Dad, don’t be angry,” Xena said sweetly while linking arms with Tim Gu in comfort.
After glancing at his eldest daughter, Tim Gu's gloomy mood gradually improved.
“Xena, luckily I still have such an excellent daughter like you by my side.”
Mo Jiang watched Nancy leave before turning back and saying: “Uncle Gu, don’t worry; tonight I’ll book a private room at Guiyun Restaurant and invite the Cai family over for dinner; this matter should be resolved then.”
Tim Gu's frown began to ease up; with Mo Jiang stepping in, things would be easier with the Cai family.
“Mo Jiang, Uncle really doesn’t know how to thank you enough.”
Mo Jiang looked affectionately at Xena Ye.
“No need for thanks; I just don’t want Xena worrying too much.”
Ella Zhou smiled broadly as she looked at Mo Jiang with eyes full of approval like that of a future son-in-law.
“This kid Mo Jiang has always cared about Xena so much; having him around makes us parents feel reassured. When can you two settle down? That way I can finally rest easy.”
“Mom, what are you talking about?” Xena playfully chided but felt secretly delighted inside. She knew Mo Jiang loved her dearly and treated her like a princess. Her parents were also very satisfied with this future son-in-law and she looked forward to becoming Mrs. Mo sooner rather than later. Tim Gu chuckled: “Are you shy now?”
Xena gazed tenderly at Mo Jiang: “Brother Mo is so outstanding; I'm afraid I'm not worthy of him.”
“Nonsense! My daughter is also very outstanding,” Tim Gu retorted stubbornly. Mo Jiang nodded gracefully in agreement: “Uncle is right; Xena is the kindest and most loving girl I've ever met—if I could marry her one day, it would be my blessing.” With these words from Mo Jiang, both Tim Gu and Ella Zhou wore smiles on their faces.
Tim Gu felt increasingly that cultivating Xena into such an excellent person was his most profitable investment.
