Chapter 19: Recovering

"Rani, Rani, RANI? Please wake up. Talk to me please?" I begged. Shaking her a little but I had no response from her. She felt cold to the touch. She started to look pale. Her lips started to turn blue. In a panick, I carried her into my arms and rushed to my room, in werewolf speed. On the way, I ordered one of the omgas servant to send a doctor to my room immediately. When I was at my bedroom door, I kicked it open and put Rani onto the bed. I waited for the doctor to arrive. They were taking to long. Don't they understand the meaning of immediately? Every second the doctor not here, the paler Rani get. A few seconds later, the doctor had arrived. It was a female doctor. Good cause I know I wouldn't cope if they were a male doctor.
"What took you so long?" I demanded. The doctor jumped.
"I'm sorry your majesty, I was with a patient. Came as fast as I could when you asked my present" she said apologetic.
"Check on her and I want to know what's happening to her" I barked. They nodded obediently and went straight to work. She checked her pulse, her eyes and temperature. The doctor then went through their bag and took out a needle. I jumped to my feet and put my hand around their throat.
"What the needle for?" I demanded. The doctor put their hands up in surrender.
"I need to take some samples from her so I can have an accurate diagnosis" she explained calmly. I let her go and she continued what they were doing. I watched a very close eye on her. The doctor draw up some blood and put the sample in her bag. They also did a swap around Rani's mouth. It took half an hour for the doctor to finish examining Rani.
"You're majesty, when was the last time she been fed by blood?" The doctor asked.
"This morning, why?" I responded. She nodded, scratching her chin.
"How many times a day?" She asked.
"Once a day" I said simply.
"What happened today?" She questioned while studying Rani.
"Their was incidents at the food hall that lead her use her magic" I said, getting agitated now.
"Hmmmm" they responded. I'm starting to loose my patience.
"For f**k sake. Just tell me what's wrong with her instead of asking 21 questions" I snapped, getting frustrated with all of the questions. The doctor didn't flinched but instead they just gave me a pointed look. Impressive.
"She's just over inserted herself. I advised that she avoid using magic for a while. Maybe two weeks at least. Also increase her blood intake by three times a day for keeping her strength up" they advised.
"Ok and anything else I need to know?"
"She needs body heat. Normal heat like fire won't work for her cause she's a demon and a vampire. They don't naturally generate body heat. They rely on other species to warm them up when something like this happens. Anybody heat will do though" she explained respectfully. I growled to that last bit. Over my dead body if someone touch Rani. It be only me who get to touch her and nobody else. She's mine. The doctor had a musing look on her face of my reaction to her statement. I scoffed.
"She'll won't wake up for a bit. No longer than two to tree days at least. However, if you want her to recover faster then I suggest that you give her some blood now, just few drops in her mouth and warm her up right away" she advised. I nodded.
"Thanks, you may go" I said dismissively with a wave of my hand.
"I'll be on my way then. I'll test her samples and let you if she needs anything else" the doctor said. After that she packed her things and left the room, bowing respectfully closing the door behind them.
Once the doctor left, I took off my shirt, leaving me bare chested, and went into bed, and hold Rani close to me. She was extremely cold. I slice my wrist, to draw up blood and put it on her mouth. She latched on my wrist in an instinct. Taking few sip. After a moment she retracted her fang after drinking my blood. I wipe the blood from her lips and I licked the wound from my wrist. I pulled Rani's cold body to my chest and I use my flames to coat our body parts, to keep her warm. She was already starting to warm up. Feeling satisfied, I fell asleep with my pretty little demon in my arms.

It's been two days that Rani stayed unconscious. My anxiety was through the roof. Every second she wasn't waking up the more impatient I've become. I know the doctor said it will be few days for her to recover but I just want her to wake and see her hazel green eyes I love to see. However, she has been recovering a lot better now. She got her colour back and her body is warmer now. Furthermore, I did what the doctor told me to do. I gave her my blood three times a day and I use my body heat to warm her up for the past few days like clock work.
Right now I'm in bed, holding Rani close; using my flames coating for warmth. I never left her side except for I needed to do my business in the bathroom. I haven't eaten past few days. How could I? When Rani is unconscious. I can't rest until she's wake up and well. I stretched my arms when I felt Rani moving.
"Rani? Are you awake?" I asked hopeful.
"I am now that you woke me up" she grumbled, opening her eyes and looking at me sleepy.
"Thanks the goddess and the mother of all dragons that you're ok" I said with relief. I must of said that a little to load cause she winced.
"Not so load swamp beast. You're going to make me go deaf" she groan out.
"Sorry my pretty little demon. I'm just relieved that your ok" I cooed. Giving her a peck in the lips. She smiled and gave me peck back, and nuzzled my nose.
"How long have I been unconscious for?" she asked as she was trying to sit up from the bed. I helped her up and making her rest her back on the bed rest with some pillows for support.
"Two days my little demon" I replied. She nodded.
"That's good. I thought it would be longer" she said absence mindedly.
"You got me worried there. I thought you wouldn't wake up" I said emotionally. Rani reached over a to grab my hand and gave it a squeeze.
"I'm sorry Rudra" she said softly. I gave her a small smile.
"So. Now I'm awake, what's the plan for the day?" My Rani asked.
"The plans that you're on bed rest until you're fully recovered and you're not allowed to use your magic at least for two weeks" I stated. She gave me a pouted look.
"The doctor's orders" I added. She huffed, crossing her arms above her chest.
"Not even a little magic" she asked. I frowned.
"No" I said bluntly.
"But...." she was about to argue when I put my hands up to stop her.
"No more using magic until you're recovered. You need rest. The doctor said you over inserted yourself" I said sternly with no room for argument. Rani glared at me.
"Also you're going to have increased blood intake by three times a day for now on" I added.
"Anything else I need to know?" She said with annoyance.
"Yes actually. You needed body heat to warm you up cause your body was extremely cold to the touch. I use my flames to help you recover faster" I explained. Rani's mouth made an oh.
"So who warmed me up then?" She asked with mischief in her voice.
"Me of course. Who else? I'm not letting anyone touching you. Only I get to touch you cause you're mine" I retorted and growled. She snorted.
"I jest swamp beast. I know it was you who would warm me up. You're too possessive" she teased. It was my turn to glare at her. She was covering her mouth to try to hide her giggles. I rolled my eyes.
"Is that why you're shirtless?" gesturing my chest as she looked up and down.
"Yes. you like what you see?" I said smugly, wiggling my eyebrows at her. She raise a brow at me.
"yes" she said bluntly. I smirked. Puffin up my chest. She snorted. After she composed herself, Rani looked at me seriously.
"We need to talk about what happened at dinner the other day" she said seriously. Oh boy. I hope she's not talking about the contract.
"What happened at dinner?" I asked, acting innocent. She just gave me a pointed look.
"Don't play innocently with me your majesty. You know what I'm talking about. The blood oath contract" she said matter of factly. s**t! She pissed. She only call me your majesty when she's angry at me. I was hoping she wouldn't mention it yet. I'm so screwed. I gulped. I guess I don't have much of a choice now. Lets get this over with and hope she won't kill me afterwards.
