After waiting for three minutes, the person in charge of this auction event scurried out inside and hollered, "Apologies for the interruption, do we have a Mr. Wayne here? Mr. David Wayne, please?"
Everyone looked at each other as none of them knew a David Wayne. Only Kate and John appeared confused and wondered why the auctioneer was calling out my name.
"Hello, I'm David Wayne," I said as I approached him.
"Mr. Wayne, we're very sorry that we forgot to send you an invitation before. We didn't think you'd be interested in coming to our insignificant auction. Please accept my unreserved apologies. We're so honored to have you here tonight. I have arranged the best seats for you, please follow me!"
