The morning radio host was still speaking about the recent tragedy in the country and had already mentioned how she was among the lawyers who would be working on it. Days before, her boss and Matthew had taken to making a public statement without her prior knowledge, putting it out there she was handling the case. She would have preferred to have been informed, but with the current status of the case, she had preferred not to meet with her boss at any point.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the male host who was already speaking about her.
"She has quite a reputation on the streets and in the sheets,’’ he jested while the other host laughed off, which prompted her to turn her radio off, not intending to hear the end of it. She was headed for Ben’ s office and getting her day ruined was the last thing she needed.
Pulling up to the sky scrapper that was labelled in large green, neon lights, she knew she was at the right destination. It was Seven Forty Five, which was perfect as her meeting was exactly at eight. The doorman let her in with a warm smile as she made her way to the lift to the 20th floor, which was her destination.
It was pretty early and there were a few employees who had already made it to the office, the lift a bit full, but as it moved to the upper floors she remained the only resident till it dinged, indicating she was finally on the last floor.
To her surprise, the floor looked nothing like an office as she had expected. It was devoid of any life, just one mahogany paneled door to her right and she took her phone to confirm she had received the right details from Grace. She was not lost, she was in the right place. Quickly she headed in front of the door, rang it twice and waited.
Ben was surprised to hear his door bell ringing that early. He expected it to be his brother who had taken to passing through his place for breakfast, never opting to eat at their parents ever since they had a falling out. Turning away from the breakfast he had been preparing, he headed towards the door, not even confirming who was on the other side before he swung it open.He would regret that decision as soon as he opened it and saw the person who was on the other side.
The unmistakable blue eyes that met him were not his brothers.
Heather Williams stood at his door in all her glory. The media never did her justice. She was an extremely gorgeous woman who, in terms of beauty, checked out all his requirements. The dark luscious hair, the full hips that asentuated her slim waist her breasts just the right size to fit in his palms. She was not dainty in any way. When he raised his eyes, he met hers, which had certainly caught him looking but somehow also held an amused glint to them.
He had expected surprise or discomfort but she just smiled and kept looking at him.
" If I knew I had been invited for a staring contest, I would have been more appropriately dressed,'' she finally spoke and that's when Ben realized his state of undress. He was still clad in his faded sleeping boxer, shirtless and covered with specks of floor all over.
This was never how he had envisioned meeting Heather, but it was too late to undo the impression.
" Sorry. I am just surprised to see you here,'' he finally was able to string up some words to reply to the woman before him while racking his brain for any reason she was there.
" We had a meeting scheduled today. Our secretaries planned it,'' she replied.
He mentally cursed at Ned. He had intentionally done this to him.
