"Then I slit his wrist."
The two guards glanced at each other not knowing what to do.
She frowned looking down at her nails. "I didn't like that much, it got too much blood on my dress. What do you think I should do next time?"
"Um, not kill them?"
Kegan stared at him before laughing. "I didn't know you guys were so funny." She pushed his chest lightly.
"Um..."
"I think I'll just use a gun next time," She twirled her pigtail in thought. "Then again, that's never as fun. Maybe I'll just use my hands without the blood- but what would I drink?"
The one on the left looked alarmed and reached for his weapon. She giggled at their faces. "I'm just kidding, lighten up boys."
Kegan kicked her legs absentmindedly sitting on the desk they were allowed. She gave a quick glance over at Jasper seeing him close the air vent.
"Would one of you be a doll and help me down? I'm suddenly getting terrible cramps."
One of them hesitantly held his hand out and she grabbed it hopping down. "I have to go to the nurse."
"You have to be escorted."
"Oh don't worry about me," She waved off. "I think you should be more worried about Derrick stealing those clothes pins."
She watched them turn around and run over to the man about to stuff them in his pockets. She hummed to herself lightly and skipped out of the room.
Before leaving she grabbed a random basket full of towels. She passed a couple guards on the way and each of them asked where she was going. She only held the basket up and continued her way to the kitchen.
She dropped the basket on the floor after opening the double doors. Luke was in the middle of the room alone mopping the floors.
She quietly waltzed over to him and put her hand on his shoulder. He stiffened as it dragged to his front until his chest.
"You missed a spot."
"You're going to get in trouble."
Kegan frowned mockingly and spun around. "You really have gone soft Lukey," She looked around the room doing little circles. "What happened?"
"Neither of us need guards looking at us more than they already do."
"What're you and Jasper planning? You've been very secretive lately."
"Go do the laundry Kegan." He dismissed and continued mopping. She walked over and kicked her foot out effectively pushing the yellow bucket of water over.
"Oopsies." She frowned.
He ignored her and went to clean it up but she stood in his way. "What's up with you?"
He took a step forward but she didn't move. Their chests were pressed together as she stared up at him.
"What aren't you telling me?"
"I don't tell you a lot of things."
"You tell me everything."
"I'm not in the mood for this Kegan." He stated dully.
"Mood for what? I'm simply trying to figure out what my roommates are up to. I don't want to get in trouble because of you two."
She took a step back and gasped sharply when her foot slipped. Luke dropped the mop and caught her before she hit the ground.
"Whoops." She giggled.
"You're always falling into your own messes."
"I never fall Lukey, someone always catches me."
He dropped her.
Kegan watched as her gray dress turned a darker shade and spread by the seconds.
"That wasn't a good thing to do."
She stood up and held her hand up but he easily caught it before it made contact with his face.
"I dare you to try that again."
He glared into her eyes but she only gave him the same look back. Slowly unwrapping his hand from her wrist he let go.
She brought her knee up and hurt him where every man dreaded.
His jaw clenched and pain flashed in his eyes for a moment before he gave her a deadly look.
Maybe she shouldn't have done that...
She groaned when her back was slammed against a table harshly.
"That wasn't a good thing to do."
"I knew you liked it rough but soaking wet too?" She breathed out a smile trying to get his hands away from her neck. He was slowly applying pressure with every second. "Then again, I guess that's what you're used to."
"You're a fool Kegan."
"You're not going to do anything Luke. Stop playing."
"Unlike you, everything isn't a game to me."
He watched her lips pull into a smile. "What're you going to do then? Hurt me? I know you're not going to kill me."
She tried sitting up again but he held her down. "You make it very hard."
"I'm a difficult person." She seethed out clawing at his hands. It was starting to become difficult to breathe.
"So I've seen."
"If you're going to kill me," She paused trying to take a deep breath. "then do it. You look weak."
"You know I wouldn't kill you."
She wanted to say something back but she couldn't. Luke finally let her go and she hunched over gasping for air.
He left her alone and went to pick his mop up. "You're a bastard."
"Tell me Kegan," He started softly cleaning the mess she made. "Where are you parents?"
"They're dead."
"By your own doing if I'm correct?"
"What's your point?" She asked breathing heavily.
"When did they get married?"
"..."
"You made yourself a bastard."
-
"Put this in your bra."
"And slice my titty off? No."
Jasper gave her a deadpanned look and put the oval shaped blade in her hand. "Put it in your bra. You owe me a favor."
"You still owe me a kiss."
Jasper ignored the eyebrow raised from his little brother. "I said I'll do it later." He growled quietly.
"You don't plan this stuff." She shook her head but put the blade in her bra. "Where did you even get that?"
"Air conditioning."
"What is it?"
"It's part of the fan."
"Do you know how many people I could kill with this? I could kill you two right now."
"I'd like to see you try."
She went to respond but quickly shut her mouth when the alarm went off. Merely rolling her eyes she sat down at the plastic table in front of Luke. He already was shuffling the cards before she could get her hands on them.
None of them were bothered by the alarm, it had to happen more than three times a week. Someone tried to escape, someone tried to hurt someone, room check, it was always something different. It always meant to return back to your rooms.
"Are you playing Jasp?"
Jasper declined Luke's offer and sat on the end of the bed watching them.
It wasn't until their door opened that they became more interested in why the alarm had gone off.
Kegan stood up and hid behind Luke adjusting the blade in her bra. When she saw the inspectors behind their warden she knew it was a room check.
"Hey," She huffed when they tore their blankets off and flipped the mattress over. "I just made those beds."
"Find anything?" Tom, the warden, asked standing in the doorway. He sighed holding onto the bars when they finished and told him no. The doors were all structured to have a bar door before a solid one in front of it.
Sometimes if they were lucky the guards would open the solid door so they could interact with the others. It usually always got out of hand.
"Pat them down then let's go."
Kegan winked when one of the inspectors stepped in front of her. "You can pat me down any day."
He ignored the little comments she made now and then and started at her legs. "There's obviously nothing on my legs except hair." She rolled her eyes when he started patting her skin. "I'll show you what I can do with a razor one day, if you're lucky."
He was yet again silent until he reached her breasts. He put his hands on the straps and tensed looking her in the eyes. "They're just boobs, grow up."
Luke and Jasper watched carefully already done being patted down.
He gestured to the pointed object poking through her shirt. "Boss." Tom sighed and walked over to Kegan.
"You know how to get me going." She winked.
Tom took matters into his own hands and searched her bra. She sucked in a breath when he pulled the object out.
"Whoopsies."
Jasper sighed heavily and Luke rolled his eyes.
"You caught me," She held her hands up. "I'm a cheater."
He threw the card on the floor and walked out of the room without giving her a single glance.
When their doors shut once again she frowned at the huge mess they made. "I just cleaned up."
"Where did you put it?"
"He threw it on the floor. That was my best card too. I was totally going to-"
"The blade Kegan."
"Oh," She picked Milly up from the floor and shook her. "It's in her."
"Can you get it out?"
"I don't think so." She replied sheepishly trying to stick her hand in the hole she made.
"It's fine," Jasper assured. "I don't need it."
"Why did you go through the trouble of getting it then?"
"I needed that room empty. If the air conditioning is broken by law they can't let people work in there."
"I see you." She grinned. "You wanna kiss somewhere privately."
"Yes, that's it." He rolled his eyes.
She shrugged trying to lift her mattress up. Luke picked it up for her and put it back where it belonged.
"Thank you, Killer."
He only nodded in return.
"What's so important about that room?"
"Nothing." He answered curtly silently telling her not to question it any further.
"I'll let you have your secrets."
-
Kegan's eyes snapped open abruptly.
She hung over the bar and looked at Luke laying in his bunk.
"I finally figured it out."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah."
"And what did you figure out?"
"Your tattoos."
"Did you now?"
"Yes."
"What are they?"
"It's a map."
