Lucky walked into the little home feeling like she had just entered another world. The living room looked connected to a dining room, but there was a mess scattered everywhere that she could not tell the difference. The outside was mildly messy with toys for the children, but those are large. This was just a cluster f*** beyond anything she could had ever imagined in her life. Her parent’s home did not even look that bad! She stares with her mouth nearly dropped at a large cabinet with its slots filled with paper where things are bursting out of it. The drawers looked like cloth hung out of some of them, while others looked like metal pieces or mail were poking out of them. There are all sorts of odds and ends in those slots, too, from a plate to metal brackets and screws. It just did not seem possible to look this disarrayed.
There are coffee cups placed carelessly around the room. Paint brushes, pens and pencils, and razors or screws are littered around the rooms. She was sure that she saw a spoon or a fork on the brown coffee table. She could see it already flying through the air and hurting someone from the stacked boxes on the brown couch that was pressed against the walls. They looked ready to topple at any minute. They obscured the brown paneling and the stairs behind them. Clothes, knickknacks, and books are poking out of the lids of the boxes. There are pictures hanging on the walls or positioned on the stands and coffee table. She was sure doilies were somewhere in that stacked mess.
This mess spread all the way to the dining room, where food was already laid out for someone. It was mixed between a sewing machine and cloth materials, like this woman was sewing her own clothes. The walls were covered by pictures of children, too, and the elderly, and adults her age that barely showed a free space on the wall. Who are all these people? Are they family? Then, her head snapped back to see half of a car that looked like it was embedded in the wall with a tray on the edge of the rolled-down windows. That was the most shocking part in this dining room. The floor looking like an explosion of clothes that were thrown everywhere and ripped apart or sewn together did not compare to it. Some did not look like they mixed well. She was not sure as she eyed something that looked like scissors, but in this home, she was not taking a chance.
She cannot even begin to understand how all these people can live in this place. She did not even know how it looked small on the outside and large on the inside. There did not seem to be room for all of them and nor did she sense magic. Her fingers twitched in her need to clean this house and figure out its mysteries. She could not believe that all those kids and that woman lived here… in this mess.
“Welcome!”
Lucky jerked her head to the cheery, blonde haired woman, who greeted her with such exuberance. She jumped at the loudness of her voice that offset her, but she settled down quickly trying to regain her composure. This woman’s hair is darker and frizzier than Cara’s, but the same color. She had green eyes that seemed to sparkle like she was truly happy to see her. However, she got the distinct impression she was not. There was tension in her slender body. Her hands were clasped together and seemed to tighten. Magic began to subtly fill the air, alerting Star that something was about to happen. It made her tense up her body so that she may have to dodge or fight someone born with magic.
Andrew had told her that this woman was a half witch, but this did not feel right to her, yet.
Lucky licked her dry lips before saying, “Alpha Andrew said that you would fix my hair. Your sister, Cara, … Umm, yeah, your sister told me to go on in.”
“Oh,” she squealed, unclasping her hands and drawing them wide for a hug. It made her flinch thinking that she was going to get hit with a magic ball or a hex. A genuine smile spread across the woman’s tanned face, letting her relax some. It was almost like the first one was a decoy, but then, next thing she knew, she was enveloped in a tight hug. “You’re the future Luna! I cannot believe he would allow me to do your hair! And to think, I thought my life would be dull and boring…”
She was panting with the need of air from this woman’s tight embrace. She could hear her voice get louder and louder in her ears. The excitement ringing through Marabella’s voice nearly deafened her while her face was turning red. It was uncomfortable at how close her body was to the other woman’s. It was like she was feeling her up, while at the same time, it was like she was just overzealous in her happiness. She was ready to yell to be released, but suddenly, she let go of her and grabbed her hands.
“I cannot wait to make you look sexier than you do now!” she squealed with a gleam to her eyes.
I like her, but if she does not get her mutt from contacting me… I’m killing her.
Stand down. Wolves like to be social.
Says you. The only social I like getting is with those alpha hunks.
“You’re Marabella?” Lucky asked curiously.
“Yes,” she said, bouncing on the balls of her feet.
“If you could please,” Lucky said as gently as possible, “get your wolf to stop trying to contact mine. She is defensive and ready to attack"
“Oh, it must be the magic,” Marabella squealed worriedly. She closed her eyes, making the magic suddenly disappear except for around her. “There, and I gave my wolf a talking to about just running head long into other wolves.”
“Thank you,” Lucky said, breathing easily.
The tension from Star seeped away from her shoulders, letting them relax. She was able to take in this woman dressed kind of scantily. It was almost a walking contradiction. She has on a turquoise blue dress that was more like a jumper with a little tail at the end. It cuts high on her legs and low on her chest to show her large breasts. She was slim with curves that made her wonder who gave her those genetics. Her hair and makeup looked disheveled, though. She was a beautiful mess.
“You’re welcome, Future Luna,” Marbella said happily with her hands clasped together. She swung her body side-to-side, showing that happiness as she continued talking. “I cannot believe that one of the sons would bring you here so soon. I thought it would be next week, but I guess I lost that bet! D***. Now, I’ll owe Randolf thirty dollars. Oh well! I still get the pleasure of taking care of you, so it is all just great. So, what will it be today? A fluff and shine to make your wolf proud of your hair. Ooo, or are you looking to go out on the town needing to s*x it up a bit? Or, or maybe, you don’t need to with those hunky men around. I am sure with someone as beautiful as you have had a taste of them already…”
“Please!” Lucky said, feeling her mind going into overload at her incessant chatter. Her body was tightening, too, at the thought of those men’s hands on her, especially Dorran. What she did to him less than an hour ago is still fresh in her mind. She needed this woman’s hyper exuberance to stop before she lost her mind to her s****l thoughts. It was not like she needed help thinking about them in that way. “I just need a cut to fix the problem with my hair.”
She pulled the hair tie out of her hair, showing Marabella what she meant. She lifted a few strands and tried not to think about how it happened. It hurt too much to know that someone would want to kill her. She does not even know the reason, but she guesses it has to do with the contract.
“What happened?” Marabella asked, losing her happiness.
It was like all the happiness in the room was drained out and it hit Lucky in the gut. Her wolf bristled at it and became alert, again. The sadness was like a wave that would come and go. She could feel it trying to drain her, but she refused to let it. She gave a patient smile to the woman, hoping to ease her weariness.
Some jacka** snuck in like a coward while I was drained…
It is alright. We’re alive.
“Someone snuck into my room and poured wolfsbane on me,” Lucky stated as she pointed to her neck. There was a small scar on her neck now after Star healed her while walking through the garden. She had grumbled about doing it, but she did not want to leave her human counterpart suffering. “We assume that it was one of the son’s ex’s that did this, but nothing is certain until we find the culprit.”
“Of course,” Marabella nodded firmly. Then, she put her cheerful smile back in place. “Then, I shall give you the Dark Amber Pack special to make you feel wanted. Ignore those jealous b****es that can’t have what isn’t theirs.”
Lucky could not help giggling at that. This woman’s feelings had filled the room, again, and pushed onto her. She could not help the way she had been made to feel giddy inside, which was a true gift for a stylist. The main reason for any woman to get their hair done was to feel better or just doing what was necessary. She, also, liked the way she was so welcoming to her and friendly.
“Well, let’s get you started,” Marabella said, walking to the doorway in the corner. “This way.”
She followed with her brows scrunched together, wondering how she had missed a doorway. She was sure it was not there before, but Edge did say that things were not what they appear in his pack. The entrance to seeing the Elders proved that, but this was different. She is supposed to be a werewolf s***h witch and an omega, which means she was lowly on the totem pole in the hierarchy. Marabella did not feel that low on the totem pole. It felt like she was higher ranked, but she had yet to formally meet those of rank. Maybe then, she will be able to understand their ranking.
Again, she feels like she has been transported somewhere else. The room next to the dining room was larger and brighter. Black and white checkered floors shined brightly from the hanging lights above that looked new. There are two black swivel chairs on her right and one on her left with (of course) mirrors. The white walls had splashes of blue and silver paint on them that made them almost stylish instead of bland. There was a white wall in the middle of this room that looked like it divided area into two. It was surreal that it would fit into a home this small.
“Now, you sit there,” Marabella said, pointing to the black chair laid back to the sink next to her. “I will get something to cover your clothes.”
Lucky just gave a nod as she looked over the place, feeling her mind renew with its confusion. Just like the Elder’s temple, nothing appeared like it was supposed to. She struggled to understand how both places looked so small on the outside and were large on the inside. She knows what she was told by the alpha, but this perked her curiosity too much. She breathed in, then out, trying to shake it from her mind. This was not her pack yet, she told herself, hoping to drive away her curiosity plaguing her with questions about the intrigues.
She knows that she will have to wait until she becomes Luna to know the full details about this pack. Right now, she has sworn no fidelity to them. She was just here to date these men and choose a mate. That was if they would start dating her sometime soon instead of acting like a**es. It was one of her bigger problems to worry about rather than something mysterious like this place. Another was her father.
Star had huffed about their father tagging along on what she believed was a date. She was still not happy and neither of them felt like forgiving him for letting their mother and sister hurt her. They cannot ignore the good he did do, though, which leads to a small crack in the door to their heart. He did try to stop her mother from selling her. It added to his favor, but it still hurt that he would let them abuse her all those years. And the worst part was finding out that her mother chose one twin over the other. She did not value her like she did Lucy, and he let her. He walked away too many times while she was being hurt and even helped in that hurt, too. She was sure that he had no feelings for her except his words felt too truthful. She wanted him to be that big, awful dad that never gave a d***, because it would hurt less.
