(Almira’s POV)
*Ring! Ring! Ring!*
I woke up to the sound of my alarm screaming at my ears.
“Arghh…” I groaned as I blindly searched for it on the bed with my eyes still closed.
This is probably one of those mornings where getting up on bed is the last thing I want to do. The sheets are just so cozy, and these arms hugging me are just so freaking warm.
Wait…
Arms? Hugging me?
My eyes widened as a chilling realization washed over me. I could feel all the hair on my body standing up at the thought of having another person beside me in bed.
I slowly lifted my head, avoiding to wake up whoever’s hugging me right now, and that’s when my face turned white. “What have I done…” I mumbled to myself
I silently gasped upon confirming that we’re both naked under the sheets inside an unfamiliar room.
Everything went crashing back inside my head as soon as I saw the face of the man I spent the whole night with. That gorgeous face was the same f*****g face who offered me drinks last night, and I don’t even want to remember how I ended up sleeping in his arms anymore.
“Hmmm…” he moaned, moving over to the other side of the bed.
I grabbed that as an opportunity to slide out of bed, quickly picking up the pieces of my clothes on the floor.
This can’t be f*****g happening right now. I wasn’t serious when I said that I was going to cheat like how my boyfriend did last night. That must be the whiskey messing up my head!
I paused when I saw the wallet of the man sticking out of the pile of clothes on the floor. I glanced to check if he was still sleeping before picking it up to know his name. I was greeted by the thick load of cash and black cards inside, but what really caught me off guard was the name printed on his credit card.
Lysander Hitwell
You’ve got to be shitting me right now.
The man I hooked up with last night was none other than the billionaire Alpha of the Shadow Weavers Pack—the same pack who is hosting the Hunting Festival.
Shit. s**t. s**t.
Now that explains why his face looked very familiar. He’s literally the CEO of MW Group, the most powerful company in the human world. I'd seen their logo on everything—every building, every product. I think I even saw their company’s logo on the whiskey I chugged down last night.
How could I not recognize his face?! He’s literally on every billboard in the City! I’m so f*****g dead. I really f*****g am—
“Awww!” I grunted when I suddenly felt nauseous.
Great. Just great. A hangover to top off this amazing mess. I clamped a hand over my mouth to keep myself from making a sound while I threw on some clothes. The absolute last thing I wanted was for him to wake up and see me.
I should get the hell out of here before anyone finds me here.
I was about to run to the door when I noticed something strange in the large mirror on the wall. As I turned to look at my reflection, my lips parted in a mixture of surprise and amazement. My natural brown hair has turned blonde with streaks of silver. There is also a strange ethereal glow on my skin that quickly disappeared as soon as it appeared.
“Holy f**k?”
What the hell happened to me?
*****
A week later…
My steps were quick and vigilant as I made my way to the HR office. I came here to collect my last paycheck after I finally decided to resign from my job. I haven’t been coming to work ever since I started having these strange changes in my body.
Morning sickness is starting to become a regular occurrence. I’ve also been having these weird dreams of me meeting something—someone, I don’t know. It’s just similar images of something I couldn’t quite grasp.
And did I mention that everyone keeps staring at my hair? I've even had a few people ask which salon I got this done.
Well, guess what? I DIDN’T.
I f****d a stranger and this happened.
Besides, there’s no way I’m going to work with my ex-boyfriend as my senior manager. He’s been trying to call me this past week, begging to work things out between us, but I think I made it clear on the first day that it’s beyond repair when another woman is involved.
A year of stupidity is enough. I’m not going to suffer in that kind of relationship anymore.
I was just about to turn to the next corridor when I noticed a tall, dark man blocking my path. I stepped back.
It’s Liam.
“So, you think you can just walk away? After what you did? After you humiliated me in front of everyone?”
I nervously looked at him.
The fire in his eyes tells me that he’s about to get his revenge on me in this very corridor. Liam was never the type to let go of something very easily. And what he hates most in this world is being humiliated in public. Something that I know very well.
“The HR officer sent this to me this morning,” he scoffed, waving a piece of paper in his hand which I’m suspecting is my resignation letter. “You really think I will let you go that easily?”
I was startled when he started tearing the letter violently in front of me. I watched as the bits of pieces fell on the floor. He stepped on it as he approached me.
“Is that why you haven’t been answering my calls? You were planning to leave me all this time?”
I clenched my fists.
“Why wouldn’t I? I’m not your girlfriend anymore. I can resign at work whenever I like—AHH!” I gasped when he suddenly grabbed my arm, squeezing it with all his might.
“You’re not f*****g breaking up with me!” he shouted.
I wanted to scream for help, but there was nobody in this area of the mall. My instincts are screaming at me to kick his nuts, but he locked my legs before I could even do that.
There was no way an Omega like me could overpower a Beta male like him. He could crush me with a single hand if he wanted to.
“LET GO OF ME!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, hoping that someone would come to help me. “Help! Somebody help me—AHMPP!” My eyes widened when Liam began kissing me aggressively. With all the strength I have left, I pushed him very hard, enough to pull him away from me. He hadn't even recovered from that when I slapped him next.
PAKK!
“f*****g b***h!”
“Don’t you f*****g touch me again. You disgust me!”
He smirked.
“Oh, I thought you liked it when I’m kissing you, huh? What changed? Some other guy is f*****g you now?”
“YES!”
The smirk on his face faded.
“What did you say?”
I gave him a sarcastic smile. He thinks he’s the only one who can proudly share his cheating to the world?
“You heard that f*****g right,” I confirmed, making his brows furrowed. “That night I disappeared, I was f*****g another man in the president suite. What? You’re surprised? You think I can’t do the things you did? You think I can’t f*****g cheat?!”
His face darkened, and then he sneered, “Come on, Almira. You’re not that noble. You’re just as low as I am. You got on that cruise hoping to hook up with a rich guy, and you’re mad because I beat you to it.”
“You bastard! How dare you insult my feelings like that!” I reached out to hit him, but he quickly grabbed my wrist.
He shoved me away, then raised his right hand, ready to slap me. I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the blow.
But just then, a familiar deep voice rang out behind me, cutting through the tension and stopping the impending physical altercation between Liam and me.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
