Ava I was sleeping peacefully until a continuous banging on the door made my ear hurt. I was too tired to get up and open the door, so I pulled the duvet over my head and professionally ignored the noise. " Avaa…" I heard my mom calling my name. " Ummm," I hummed loud enough for her to hear. " We are waiting for you downstairs, don't be late. If you don't come in five minutes you won't be having your breakfast and your pocket money," my mom yelled from the other side of the door. There was warning laced in her voice. My eyes snapped open at the raw threat she just gave me. I don't care much about the breakfast but I do care for my pocket money. " Nope, that won't do," I mumbled to myself and got out of bed at lightning speed. I am broke now and I need my money to survive until I get a decent job. I shook my head when I heard footsteps of my mom going downstairs, knowing she just hit the right nerve. This week took a toll on my body as I gave the final exams at my college finally and now I am going to rest for a while before I start applying for jobs. I made a quick trip to the bathroom and did my morning routine before I headed into the shower. After I was done with everything, I stepped out of the bathroom and went straight towards my closet. I pulled out a pair of black jeans and a top and wore them before drying my hair. I pulled my hair into a ponytail and I am done. I walked towards the door and made my way downstairs. " You woke up?" My brother John said sarcastically because yesterday I told everyone that I won't be able to wake up for a week. I rolled my eyes at him before sitting on my chair. " Good morning," I said. " Good morning, honey," my father greeted me, putting down the newspaper that he was reading. My mom came out of the kitchen with a dish in her hand and a big smile on her face. I rolled my eyes inwardly because if I do that in front of her she will smack me in my face. " Now what?" My mother asked me to get excited out of nowhere. " What?" I asked back, raising my brow. I can not understand these people. " Your college is over. So what are you gonna do now?" She asked. " I don't know?" I said as I shrugged and started to serve myself. " Maybe find a job and settle down," I said, munching on my sandwich. " No boyfriend?" She said making my father choke on his food. Yes, she can be blunt with her words too. " No, I am not into boys right now," I said. " Not into boys? Oh well, it's not a problem for us if you are into girls," she said, making me dizzy. " What I meant was I am right now focusing on my career, so stop pestering me," I said, clarifying her. " Aah, I see," she said. " Did you decide which company you are applying to?" My father asked. " No, not yet. I want to take a rest for a while before I go looking for a job, ``I said. " You know, you are always welcome in my company," he said. I sighed. But before I go back to the topic which will end up going on for an hour, he puts his both hands in the air as though he is surrendering. Leo Malkova, my father, is a director of a news channel. It has been this way since I told them I will move out after finding a job, but my parents oppose my idea very much saying that I am their only daughter and I can't move out until I marry someone, which I certainly will not. My mom Jessi also works with him in his company and that's how they met for the first time. She walked in for an interview and my father fell head over heels for her. I lowered my head and started to shove my face with a turkey sandwich when I heard the bell come from the front door. I looked up from my plate with knitted brows. I tilted my head to look at the clock and saw it was still early for someone to visit. I shrugged and started to eat the rest of the sandwich as I saw my mom getting up to answer the door. " Oh Linda, how are you ?" My mom shouted loud enough for us all to hear. What is she doing here at this time? I thought mentally as I finished the rest of my breakfast. They both walked towards the table, chatting happily like they were friends and saw each other after a very long time. My family loves her very much like a family member. I still remember the day I met her for the first time. I went to the park near our house as I wanted to stay fit and after one round I sat down on the bench and fell asleep. She was the one who sat beside me and held an umbrella over my head. Since then we have not only been friends but we became best friends. " Eat with us," my father offered. " Good morning, everyone. I am so sorry to disturb you all in the early morning," she said politely. " You are always welcome. This is your house too," my mother said, in disbelief hearing her words. " That's too kind of you," she said with a smile. " Are you done?" She asked, looking towards me. " Yup," I said as I got up from my chair. " Are you guys going somewhere?" My mother asked. " I am here to convince her to go out with me to celebrate finishing her exam," she said. I have the urge to roll my eyes at them so badly, but I controlled myself not to. " We are going upstairs now," I said urgently as I pushed her towards the stairs. I knew if we stayed there for a few more seconds she would convince her to do something evil. " I know the way," she said. " I know, but I wanted to escape quickly," I said, earning a chuckle from her. " Come on, she isn't that bad," she said. " Oh really? Live one day in my house. And then let me know if you still think that, ``I said, walking past her as I opened the door of my room. walking in she sat down on the edge of the bed and checked me out in a weird way, making me self-conscious.
