Chapter 2Michael still couldn’t believe Tre was actually there. He had hoped, of course, that Tre would be able to make good on his promise and show up, but there had been enough disappointments in the past year—a delayed flight, an injury, an emergency with his mother once—for Michael to know he needed to be patient and understanding. The fact that they couldn’t spend more time together was not Tre’s fault. He knew if Tre had a choice in the matter, things would be very different. But this was the hand they were dealt.
