" look at her! how shameless she is! " palace guards and maids started their usual talking the moment Cynthia stepped out of her dorm. With her heavy pregnant belly, she walked slowy with one hand on her stomach. Though she's used to it by now, it still hurts. Getting pregnant with a child before marriage is considered as taboo in Finria kingdom. Finria is a kingdom where nature is at it's very best. Surrounded by ocean and vast forests, people of Finria lived harmoniously under the rule of their young king Edward. Cynthia looked at the magnificent chandelier hanging on the living room when the breeze from the outside caused it to swing a bit making pleasant noise which sounds like music to her ears. She wore her simple yellow tunic with a white cotton robe tied around her waist loosely. she's in her eighth month and about to go into labor any time. Cynthia when she first entered the palace as a maid impressed everyone with her work and her kind polite behavior. She got promoted as a personal maid to queen Rachel. Maids envied her . They are stopped by the guards guarding King's chamber. Cynthia was let in and Giselle decided to wait until she return. Inside the chamber, the king sat in front of the large oak table with a lot of paper in front of him. The chamber has a huge wardrobe on one side and on the other side, a huge bed. The room is painted in little purple . The light rays entering the room makes the room more bright as the curtains of the chamber are slided on one side. King Edward, who is in his late twenties stood up from his seat and asked her to follow him to the huge balcony. Cynthia was surprised as he never asked her presence after that fateful night. Not even when everyone in palace find out that she's pregnant. He avoided her like a plague. " Cynthia, you're not allowed to stay in here. I can't ruin my reputation and kingdom rules. i am going to extradite you from my kingdom. Leave this instant." He said without even looking at her. How can a king be so heartless. Cynthia wiped her tears and touched her swollen belly. She will endure anything for her unborn child. She just turned and was about to leave. Cynthia wiped her tears and came out of the chamber with her head held high. She did nothing wrong. She then walked towards her dorm with Giselle following her . On seeing Cynthia packing her bags, Giselle could comprehend what might have happened and went to her room and took her belongings . She then handed a letter to the royal adviser and returned to find Cynthia walking out of the palace. " got you " Giselle panted as she catch up with her. She then grabbed the bags in Cynthia's hand and hired a Cab. " come on, you're not going to get rid of me anytime soon. " Giselle intertwined her hands with Cynthia's. Cynthia couldn't control it anymore as she hugged Giselle and cried her heart out. Giselle took Cynthia to her village named Zola which is five miles away from palace where she has a livestock and a house with a old caretaker. She lost her parents and her younger sister to a accident years ago. her parents dies immediately whereas her sister dies after months. so, none in village knew about her sister. Giselle introduced Cynthia as her sister and told everyone that her sister's husband is a spy. They believe her. " why did you leave your job? " Cynthia asked her as she is feeling guilty for ruining her friend's work. It took her years to become head maid and she's is Queen's favourite. Giselle looked lovingly into her eyes, "Now remember what I tell you. i don't care about i left behind and you will always be my first preference. I won't let you suffer alone." Days rolled by, Both Cynthia and queen Rachel are about go to labour anytime and as fate would have it, it happens to be the same day. in Palace, there are many maids running around while a team of medical personnel are looking over Queen's delivery. Whereas in Zola, Only Giselle and her old caretaker are helping Cynthia deliver the baby. After hours, a loud wail of baby cries heard both in palace and in Zola. Queen Rachel gave birth to a girl and both of them doing fine. Unfortunately Cynthia lost a lot of bleed and still bleeding. The caretaker then cleaned the baby abs called Giselle out of the room. Giselle was heartbroken and distraught when the caretaker said Cynthia will be gone soon as her bleeding isn't stopped. Giselle took the baby from the caretaker and entered the room. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't control her tears. Giselle looked at Cynthia who is looking pale and tired and gave her a weak smile. She then placed the baby next to her and helped her sit. Cynthia took her baby girl in her arms and kissed her. She looked at her daughter. Just looking at her, Cynthia knew that the pain she's going through is worth it. Her thick black hair and delicate features accented her gorgeous eyes and pretty little face. She could see her daughter is stunningly beautiful. Her look of innocence is so alluring. Cynthia knew she doesn't have much time left. She remove her top and feed her daughter . It was painful two days for Giselle and Cynthia. Despite the pain, Cynthia smiled and never once complain or blame anyone for her ordeal. Giselle, on the other hand couldn't stop from blaming God and cursing the king. Everyone she looks at the innocent baby, her heart aches . They don't deserve this. what did the baby do? how can god be merciless? " Gis, i don't have much time left. i want you to do me one more favor. i am sorry that i am going to leave you. but i will die peacefully knowing that my baby will be safe with her godmother. i know you can give her twice the love and care you gave me. thank you for everything you have done for me. i won't forget it. you're amazing. i am gonna miss you, Giselle. I love you. " Cynthia chocked her words out. Giselle couldn't do anything to save her friend. she regret her helplessness . She tried to stay strong for her. she still hope for a miracle. " shh, don't say like that. You will be fine . " Giselle said while crying. " lie" Cynthia said. Her voice barely a whisper. " why you haven't named your child, yet? " Giselle asked trying to avoid the death topic. Cynthia smile before taking her baby in her arms. She held her close to her heart. " Ariana " Cynthia said to her baby and kissed it. She then sang a lullaby and put her baby to sleep. Cynthia hold onto Giselle hands while on her death bed. Giselle don't know how long they stayed like that . She woke up to Ariana's loud wail. She shook Cynthia but she doesn't wake up. She passed away on her sleep. Giselle took baby Ariana in her arms and promised to herself that she will take care of Ariana as her own. Giselle held Cynthia's funeral and a week later, She got a call from the palace. Queen Rachel after knowing that baby was born at the same time as her daughter wanted the baby to be brought up in palace as she can be princess friend and assistant when grownup. Giselle at first doesn't want to accept it but for the better future of Ariana, She agreed to it. Everyone was shocked to see Giselle back in the palace. Queen Rachel was surprised to see her . Rachel is one kind lady. Giselle lied to them that the baby was her sister's and she died during childbirth. Everyone believed her but the king was bit suspicious. Giselle was made head maid again and Ariana learned and played with princess Aria all day along. Aria was nothing like her snobbish father. Aria treated Ariana as her own sister and they both are best of friends. Days rolled by, Years rolled by, Now both are 18 years old. Today is their birthday. On their birthday, they have a biggest surprise waiting for them which is going to change their life forever.
