The Shame

Rebecca's POV The air in the room soon got tensed as he pinned me down on the table while kissing me hard. I was losing my senses when all of a sudden the room lit up. I was glad that someone had finally come to my rescue. I saw him turn around adjusting his jacket, it was the nurse who had switched on the light while uncle Sam and aunt Lily stood there in shock looking at me. My tears slipped down my cheeks with my clothes all messed up I ran outside the room. I cannot face them for the rest of my life! I'm the most horrible person for letting them down. I had my tears gushing down while I stared at myself in the mirror of the restroom. I had a hickey on my neck that was slowly turning dark. Another set of tears flowed down my cheeks as I recollected what had happened. "Dear?", called the soft voice of aunt Lily outside the restroom. Oh no! I can't do this! I just wished to disappear. I closed my eyes making more tears fall on the floor. I fell on the floor and not realizing when aunt Lily entered the room. "Sssshhhh! It's okay baby girl! I trust you, I don't know what happened and how it lead to this but, I will trust you Rebecca because I know that we didn't raise you like this", said aunt Lily as she embraced me. I could barely speak as I was finding it hard to breathe amidst the hiccups of sorrow. I was held in a tight embrace by aunt Lily and somehow I didn't dare to open my eyes. I don't remember for how long we stayed like that but, it some how gave me peace. After a while we got out of the restroom to leave the hospital. I didn't bother to speak a word after what happened to me, neither did I see that despicable man! As soon as we reached home I ran to my room and fell on the bed breaking into tears. I knew that I still had to tell my family that there was nothing wrong done by me to lead the situation on. I don't remember how long I cried that night but, I slipped to my dream land empty stomach. The next morning I woke up to some loud sounds. I got up to peep outside my room only to see Mr and Mrs Hoffman yelling at each other. I had a bad feeling about this as they never yelled at each other but somehow today was different. It felt so wrong from the very start. I couldn't hear most of their conversation but what I did hear were some ground breaking words that shattered my heart silently. "I don't understand why would a man do this to our girl?", asked uncle Sam. "I know but, it's not our girl's fault", said aunt Lily. "But he won't keep quiet! He is some maniac who has taken an obsession for our girl and will ruin all of us in the process", said Uncle Sam. "I didn't know that he would do this when he first came up with the proposal", said aunt Lily "Neither did I but, I won't let our girl become a scapegoat in this", said uncle Sam. By now I had decided to confront them about their concerns. "What is it?", I interrupted them "Rebecca? what are you doing here? you should go sleep", said uncle Sam. I caught uncle Sam's hand and looked at him with concern in my eyes. He finally gave up to my concerns and finally spoke up. "He, he said he wants to marry you and if you refuse he plans on taking away our cafe", said uncle Sam dejected. I was taken aback by his words as I could barely comprehend his words. I knew how important the cafe was to the old couple and since I was born I was only trouble to the kind people around me. At first I became a trouble to my mother and then to Hoffman couple and now I'm going to ruin their lives just to protect myself. I stayed calm for a moment but, I had made my mind to face my troubles and not let anyone else suffer on my behalf. "I will marry him", I spoke up. "Have lost your mind dear?", said aunt Lily. "I won't let that happen" said uncle Sam. "And I won't let any of you suffer", I said confidently. "I don't want you to suffer either Rebecca, we promised your mother on the death bed, to take care of you", said uncle Sam with a sad smile. "I promise I won't suffer and I won't give up either. I will fight till the last breath for you uncle", I said holding on to his hand. "Please trust me, I won't give up that easily", I said trying to make them understand my desperation. Aunt Lily and uncle Sam nodded with sad smiles to cheer me up. I was sure of one thing and that was to never bow down to the beast. I decided to sue him for molesting me but then stopped as the memories of Uncle Pete's accident flashed. If he was the cause for it and got away with it then it won't be hard for him to execute the same plan again. I can't sit back and let him do as he pleased so, I decided to apply for a firm in New York and leave this state and forever settle in New York. I had applied for a few firms in New York and they surely would accept me. I went ahead and bought train ticket for myself as air ticket would be easily tracked and if he is as powerful as he claims to be then he'd have airport authorities block my passport in case I tried to leave but, train tickets were cheap and easily bought online anonymously. I decided to leave the place in the dead of the night when no one would suspect me. I reached the railway station and successfully got on the train. Everything seemed to be perfect until my phone beeped. I looked at the screen to see the notification flashing from the same private number. "Hey lady, I thought you'd be lonely on the train so I decided to company you" It read. I had my palms sweating when I heard the train's whistle blowing indicating it's departure from the station. There was something wrong. If this text is true then is it possible that he is on the same train as me? My worst fears came true when I saw the familiar huge frame entering my compartment.
