Past and Present

205 Words
I sat there, water drenching me, my hair clinging to my neck and shoulders, my body lightly shaking. The door was being hit again and again, and I could hear swearing, cursing, profanities. None of it could make me move, however. My body felt tied to a memory I had subconsciously buried in the past, a memory that had violently chipped off from a soul that was once complete. Tears slowly started to fill my eyes, my fingers trembling. I wasn't sure what I felt right now. I wasn't sure of anything. My heart felt like it was being ripped in two, my soul deforming. I brought my hands to my ears, my eyes wide, my lips quivering as I tried to breathe. I could hear some commotion outside, and the banging had stopped. I could hear yelling. A scream. Gray. I turned to the still closed door as I heard his voice come closer to me. "Angeline!" I could barely answer before I heard something else. The sound of flesh. A maniacal laugh. Gray cursing. A few screams. I couldn't bring myself to open it, my fear mounting with each breath I took, a combination of the past and the present effectively ruining me.
