The car ride was silent, and I caught myself turning to Gray constantly. He was leaned back, his eyes closed most of the time, or avoiding calls on his phone. I couldn't help looking at him, mostly because I wanted to be able to figure him out and because he looked like something straight out of a dream. To think he was my husband...
I shook my head and turned away, my heart beating hard, threatening to break free from the cage holding it back.
Gray's phone suddenly started ringing again, and he gave an exasperated sigh.
"Who is it?" I asked, taking the opportunity I got to break the silence.
He turned to me, then sighed. "Samantha."
I went pale, and I turned away, my hand coming above my heart. All of my insecurities immediately came to play, and I found myself doubting myself and all we have done ever since.
The phone continued to ring, and I bit down on my lips and turned to Gray, just in time to see him press a button. The glass rolled down, and he flung the phone into the traffic.
"Gray," I said, my eyes wide with surprise.
"You can forget about the other woman mow. There was never any, and there never will be."
