My brows furrowed as I held Gray's gaze. "Is there something wrong? I mean, I..." He shrugged. "It's nothing you need to worry about. I just want you to come with me." I slowly nodded, then took in all of the dishes I had made. "How about breakfast?" "We probably won't be long." I removed the apron I was wearing, then quickly went upstairs for a shower. My mind was troubled throughout, and I wondered if something else came up. Another person with another unsolicited drama. I let out a small sigh, then closed my eyes for a brief moment before stepping out of the shower. I dressed in an elegant white dress, then made my way slowly out of the room. I could see Gray on a call from the top of the stairs. He had worn his shirt but was struggling with buttoning up, his attention greatly divided. Slowly, I walked downstairs and then gently reached for him, my fingers carefully pulling the edges of his shirt together. That was when he turned to look at me. His eyes slightly widened and softened as he took me in, the sound from his phone, whoever that may be ending up unattended as he watched me. "You should answer your phone," I said, feeling heat rise up my cheeks because of the intense way he was staring at me. Having his eyes in me felt like a blessing and a curse at the same time, and I wanted to hide as much as I wanted to unravel in his arms. I guess that is the curse of being as attracted to anyone as I am to him. He made Kelvin and his betrayal seem like such a distant memory, and the pain I felt was almost justified by... everything I was feeling now. Slowly, Gray ran his hand down the edge of my hair, tucking it back a bit, his eyes leaving mine to follow the little dance of his fingers. I swallowed hard as I tried to concentrate on the buttons, but I don't know if the buttons were just too much or if my hands were shaky and my heart fluttering. "Thank you for last night," he suddenly said, and I looked up to meet his eyes. His gaze was unreadable but not closed off. There was just so much going on that there was barely time for me to analyse it. "Anything for you," I breathed, then started to turn away again. I was quite unsuccessful at that as his fingers gently went under my chin, then raised my face to meet his again. I am not sure how easy I am, but Gray keeps stretching my limits. How else am I to explain to myself the sigh that left my mouth and the way my hand immediately rested in his still bare chest the moment his fingers raised my chin? "Am I to believe that you would really do anything for me?" I swallowed. I wasn't sure I was that brave, but at the same time, I believed I was competent. I have seen him at his worst, and he still wasn't so bad. I have watched Kevin with Rose coloured glasses and look what he did to my heart. Maybe the allure of Gray is the fact that I never had to wear those glasses. He ripped them off himself with the way he married me, then showed me exactly why I wouldn't need them in the first place. "Yes." He chuckled, running his finger down my jawline. "Would you be interested in picking a ring for my wife?" My eyes flew open as I met his, but he was slowly leaning to me. His face rested on the side of mine, his eyes closing as he let his cheek slowly caress mine. It was a weird, beautiful way to stay close, and I had absolutely no complaints. He sighed, his hand dropping to cup my waist and pull me close. "I am tired of seeing her wear a ring I bought with the input of a woman she does not like. I want to buy her a ring out of my own volition. I happen to be an i***t and don't know her preference, so I would be glad if you would help." I smiled, my heart fluttering wildly in my chest. "Why do I need to help you with a ring?" He shrugged, lightly moving his lips against my lips. "You are the closest woman to me, sweetheart, and I believe you would do anything for me." I laughed, then turned into him, knowing just how dangerous the proximity was, yet learning just how much I loved to play with fire. My eyes dropped to his lips for a long moment before they flicked up to meet his eyes. His eyes were filled with amusement and tenderness, and my cheeks felt a little hot. "I want another reward." He chuckled. "I happen to have more than enough."
