Lunch from an Enemy

420 Words
I woke up to a knock on the door, my brows furrowed as I turned towards it. Who could it be? Aunt Althea, maybe? It could only be her since she was the only one who cared about me and Gray. I mean, Samantha did care, but in her own psychotic way, and none of us wanted that. I got out of bed, and only then did I notice that Gray was not in bed with me. I was starting to wonder where he was when I heard the sound of the shower, and my mind immediately calmed. The knock came on the door again, and I opened it, my brows furrowed. It was Samantha, followed closely by Aunt Althea. Samantha was holding a tray of food, a smile that some naive person who didn't know the amount of crazy she had in that tiny beautiful body would think was genuine, and even, almost apologetic. "What do you want?" "Evangeline," Aunt Althea said, her voice tender yet strict. "She simply brought you food. For you and Gray." Samantha nodded, her smile widening as she slowly moved the tray towards me. "I brought lunch." "We don't need it," I said, my voice low as I tried hard not to lose my temper. "Evangeline..." "What makes you think that we would want lunch from you after wgat you did to Gray at the hospital, to me, and the hotel, and then stole my dress? You have some nerve." Aunt Althea moved forward. "I understand that..." "No, you don't," I said, my eyes meeting hers. "You don't understand at all. You would be very cruel if you did, and then you proceeded to bring her here. She is f*****g crazy, and there is no way I am dealing with that right now." Aunt Althea started to say something, but I closed the door, my eyes closing as I leaned on it. I hated seeing her everywhere, and if it wouldn't be too f*****g selfish, I would have asked to leave this place where she seemed to be everywhere. "You deserve a hug for that." I slowly turned to him, and he was standing close to the bed, his hands clasped behind him, a towel wrapped around his waist, a small smile playing on his lips. "How do you deal with this every day?" He shrugged. "It's my life. I am used to it." I shook my head and covered the distance to him, my eyes closing as I rested on his bare chest.
