I sat on the couch, watching Gray gently walk around, still gently rocking Kris up and down. Kris had fallen asleep in his arms already, and I watched them, a smile lifting my kips. Gray see.ed rather unwilling to let him go, but I could tell it was mutual from how tight Kris' arms were around Gray's neck.
"Why, now I am jealous."
Gray turned to me, then smiled. "Are you possessive of me, or are you possessive of him?"
I thought about it for a bit. "How about both of you?"
He chuckled, his eyes turning to Kris as he ran his hand up and down his little back. "I still fully belong to you, Evangeline, you know that."
Something about how casually he had said that while carrying maximum sincerity in his eyes immediately made my cheeks redden with hear, and I bit down on my lips, avoiding his gaze for a bit.
"You are sweet talking me, you genie cheater."
He laughed, running his hand down Kris' hair. "What would you rather I say? Explicit details of how..."
"Hey," I said, stopping him before he could finish. "We have a child now."
He raised a brow. "And?"
"You can't say thing like that in front of him."
His brow only shot up higher. "Explicit as in, details on how I want to ensure you stay with me?"
I coloured again, and he gave a small laugh.
"Your innocence is gone, Angeline."
"That's not my fault, and you know it."
"You are shifting blame. Typical guilty behaviour."
I gave him a scowl, and he smiled, just as Kris stirred, moving to rest the injured side of his face on Gray's chest.
"Wait," Gray said, then slowly adjusted his head so he wouldn't hit himself by brushing the wounded part against Gray.
Kris stirred and slowly looked up, his eyes filled with sleep.
"You are not so bad at this," I complimented. "How about you offer to feed him? I doubt he has had anything to eat."
Gray immediately nodded and turned to Kris, who was still drowsy with sleep, his hand covering his eye and gently scratching the skim underneath.
"Do you want to eat, Kris?"
Kris looked up to Gray. "Are you my daddy?"
Gray's eyes met mine for a brief second, and I gave him a small nod. He turned to Kris, then smiled.
"Yes. I am daddy."
Kris immediately broke into a smile. "Mummy came too."
"I know," Gray said, nodding. "She is over there."
He turned Kris towards me, and I saw the little boy's face light up with a smile.
"I am going to take you home with me, okay?"
"Are you adopting me?"
Gray let his fingers gently caress Kris' cheek. "You are my son. I don't need to adopt you. You are mine, okay? See? We look alike very much."
I smiled. They did look so much alike. Like Gray was split open or cloned.
Kris broke into a smile, and Gray gently wiped the tears under his lashes.
"Do you want to eat now? Daddy brought a lot of food."
Kris nodded, and Gray leaned back on the bed, gently putting Kris back on the bed and propping him up the same way I had.
He turned to me, and I stood up, taking out some of the dishes that were more popular with kids.
"Are you allergic to anything?" Gray asked, and it made me smile just how meticulous he was being with Kris.
I could tell that Kris was going to grow up with the best of everything and an extremely loving father despite who his mother was, and that he would understand Gray's hesitation when he was much, much older.
Kris nodded his head, but I doubt he even knew what it meant to be allergic to anything. Gray sat beside him in bed, and I checked the foods for allergens and simply avoided the ones with nuts or tomatoes.
Luckily, he ate well, his smile big as he kept staring at Gray like he was awestruck. I actually understood. If I hadn't been in such massive trouble the first time I met Gray, I would have been awestruck, too.
His visuals were unreal. His proportions unbelievably perfect, and even though I had seen him shirtless a lot of times, it still looked extremely ethereal. Like he had worked out of a book on perfection.
Kris ate so well that I started to feel hungry, too. I grabbed the bags and slowly opened up a plate from inside and grabbed the cutlery. I ate slowly while watching Kris eat, and Gray being extremely careful.
I could tell he had never handled a kid before, and it only made him more attractive, how much effort he was putting it on.
You are doing it again, Evangeline.
I shook my head and blinked, my chest heaving. The voices in my head were starting to get too darn loud, and I could hear the arguments ensue.
My heart, as usual, the treacherous little bastard was pushing me towards what could very well be a disaster, but my mind, thank you, Lord, was maintaining rationality.
"Are you okay?" Gray suddenly asked, turning to me.
I looked up, my eyes wide, my lips parted, but before I could reply, a knock came on the door.
I turned towards it, happy to have an escape from the question, especially since my cheeks were flaming hot, and I had limited options to tell him that he would believe, since I had been looking straight at him too.
I might have just sucked it up and admitted that I was having inappropriate thoughts about him that admit my heart was ready to be on the line for him again.
"Come in," Gray said, and a doctor and a nurse walked in.
The doctor smiled at Gray before proceeding towards Kris. "I can see our little superhero is awake and eating already."
Gray nodded. "Will he be okay?"
"He didn't have a lot of injuries. Considering the other person died with third-degree burns, he must have been shielded by her, or at least, by something else. He is a very lucky boy."
Gray let out a sigh of relief and turned back to Kris. "Thank you, doctor."
"He will take a few medications through the drip now, and we will check on him tomorrow morning."
Gray moved away from the bed, and the doctor gave a few instructions to the nurse. We all watched her administer the medications before she finally stepped away.
"Thank you very much, Doctor."
The doctor nodded, then walked away with the nurse. Gray sat next to Kris again, and while Kros wouldn't eat anymore, he lay up on Gray's arm, his tiny lips half open as he seemed to drift off to sleep again.
I laughed at his rather peculiar position, and I looked up to Gray. Gray's eyes were full of adoration, and I let out a small sigh, my eyes blinking slowly as I watched him gently caress Kris' hair.
He was ten times more attractive this way, and I wondered how he would be when I gave him a child. How we would all be as a family. Him, me, Kris.
My stupid little heart dared to believe that it would be absolutely beautiful, and my normally rational mind believed it too.
